Black Cherry Merlot

I usually only like super sweet scents such as Ariana Grande's earlier catalog or something fun and refreshing like Cucumber Melon, but this is just so divine. It's definitely sweet with a little bit of a darker vibe which I account it from the tartness of the berries. I typically hate the smell of any alcohol (e.g wine) but I personally don't get any notes of that. It's all mainly dark cherries and raspberries to me. If you basically like berries but don't want to drown yourself in a sugary fruity sweetness, I definitely recommend this one. The only real downside with this is that it is not long lasting at all. After an hour in Florida's climate, it's basically just kinda gone.

My Mom used to have a Black Cherry Hand Sanitizer from Bath and Bodyworks I used to Love, everytime she used it, it would fill the room with the smell of Cherry ICEE like the ones you get from a Movie theater. About a year later we were back in the store and I found this fragrance that smelled EXACTLY like the Sanitizer. Needless to say I was completely in love and didn't wait to buy. It's a good one that I can still smell on my clothes a day or so later, and In my opinion it its most occasions and seasons with the Sweet Cherry smell.

Disclaimer, i only have the hand sanitiser of this scent because i think the rest of the line is discontinued? What a tragedy though, i'm OBSESSED and want to smell like this all the time. It's sweet, tart, and it smells dark yet still fresh. It reminds me of Ruby Gloom if you know what i mean. I have gotten comments saying its cloying/irritating, but that was from my mother so who knows if she's real or just being a hater. Anyways i personally love it, but i do get why people say it smells like cough syrup.

I love this fragrance. It reminds me so much of the original Victoria by Victoria Secret from the early 90s. There is something similar in the notes but I cannot tell you what it is. I do not get any ballpoint pen or licorice notes at all from this. There is a sweetness there it is understated and not sugary. I really enjoy this fragrance. I started with the body mist and have since been back to buy the matching body cream.

Im going to need to stock up on this one! I AM IN LOVE! THIS IS the perfect cherry bomb scent! It smells exactly like the black cherry yankee candle. Its incredible! Its a deep, rich black cherry. Slightly tart but also a sweetness! Really just cherry madness! Its totally amazing! I smell no raspberry at all really, I gather the merlot is probably that intense depth to the scent! 9/10

I wish Bath and Body works would make an perfume out of this stuff. It smells sooo... good. I love the cherry notes in this. BBW has an hand lotion in this line and not gonna lie it smells way better than the fragrance mist. The hand lotion has a deeper cherry note than the mist. If BBW makes perfume out of this, I would buy like 10 of them cause it smells soo good. Rating: 7.5/10

We love this fragrance The Raspberry, red wine and sour cherry are just a great combination it's juicy and sweet cherry bomb and last all day on us. In our opinion this is unisex see no problem with a man wearing this, my husband does and has received many compliments.

My absolute favorite cherry scent. The juicy cherry and bitter merlot is the best combo ever and I've spent way too much time trying to find a perfume like it. Even better than lost cherry! I can't believe they discontinued this!!

I absolutely love this! Straight Dr. Pepper and I ain't mad, LOL. It's powdery but in a confectioner's sugar type of way. Cherry vanilla liqueur, with a touch of warm almond.

I loved Chocolate Covered Cherry so much that I had to have Black Cherry Merlot. They might be cousins and share the same main notes but Black Cherry Merlot sits more on the fruity sweet side while Chocolate Covered Cherry is more gourmand and the experience to the nose is different. Between the two cherries i like CCC better, the chocolate and liqueur are more peculiar and provide for a more complex and grown up, so to say, cherry. BCM is still a nice scent. Easy to wear, a tad too sweet and synthetic but still pleasant. Decent longevity and probably more interesting in its drydown on my skin. I own the version with the glittery bottle (xmas special 2020/2019??? In Italy we get most of the lines/editions with some delay). Rate: 7,5/10

Like with a lot of BBW fragrances, some of the notes (cherry in this case) evaporate quickly. After a few minutes it goes from a dominantly cherry almond scent to raspberry spritzer. The wine note adds freshness and neutralizes the fruitiness of the cherry and almond notes. Without the wine note, I think this will smell like something you'd find in your household (ahem, cough drops and air freshener). Luckily, this fragrance isn't like that at all. Although I am a fan of cherry fragrances, I do agree that it is headache-inducing at times--especially if the cherry has an overpowering almond note. It's sweet, but not sugary sweet. It's also got a tang and a bit of zest which makes it fresh and bubbly.

Smells like Luden's cherry cough drops, the ones that taste like candy. Last about as long as one too. I actually loved the smell of this. Wish they would bring it back but just make it project and last longer. Last about 30 minutes at arms length, then skin scent for maybe 2 hours.

This is a favorite in uncomplicated body sprays, for me. Cherry can go so wrong but I definitely get "sangria" more than "cough drop." Started my love affair with cherry that has never been truly satisfied.

Playful and nostalgic like a cherry sucker! A little alcoholic, but more gourmand than cheap. I wouldn't wear it to a job interview, but day-to-day or on a night out I love it :)

I absolutely detest this, which is relatively rare for me. But you know, if there's a surefire genre of fragrance that would repulse me, it's gotta be cheap, artificial smelling, syrupy cherry cough cold medicine fragrances. Which is 100% is. I'm extremely confused by "raspberry" being listed here. It isn't raspberry, raspberry is actually my favorite fruit, as opposed to cherry, my absolute nemesis. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this at all, but more power to you if you enjoy it. That's the beauty of it all, we're free to love or fragrances as we go. Hey! At least something atrocious is still better to a totally boring, forgettable fragrance, right?! 🤢 🍒

I liked this one for a while and then it kinda fell off for me. It started to smell way to strong and bitter. The scent would linger for way too long. It caused me several headaches. I hadn’t worn it in a while and then tried again and even then it’s still was suffocating. All in all I would try it for yourself because it was honestly really enjoyable, sweet, dark and sexy. Then I guess I got interested in other scents because it wasn’t the same after a while. It also doesn't help that every time they reintroduce it, it's different. Whether long lasting or not as strong or way too strong, all of them are different from each other.

The first few seconds feature a very artificial cherry, which translates a bit like wine, so I don’t mind it too much. Then, some almond extract comes in, and it turns gourmand ... very edible. But, that sticks around for less than a minute .. then a clean, floral, musky note comes in. The rest of the wear is a rich black cherry mixed with this clean, fluffy floral-musk. It’s ok, but I wish I had more almond and less of the floral-musk, which feels a bit out of place. Fantastic longevity for a body mist!

I’ve gotten compliments from friends when I wore this fragrance. I don’t understand why people compare it to cough syrup. I don’t see the resemblance, expect that most cough syrup is cherry flavored, and this is a cherry scent. Black Cherry Merlot is a juicy, dark cherry crushed into a sweet tart wine. I really savor it, especially in the colder months.

Honestly the only b&bw scent I can’t stand. Smells exactly like an artificial cherry jello. No alchohol or musk notes, just an unpleasant medicinal cherry.

Cherry hard candy! That's the best way I can describe this one and I mean it as a compliment. As soon as I heard the name, I got eager and curious to try this one. I like most of BABW as shower gel and body lotion and not body mist. So I chose to buy a shower gel of this one and I'm not disappointed. I should mention that merlot is my favorite wine and cherry, almost my favorite fruit both in edible and olfactive form, so I may be a little biased in my judgement. Black cherry merlot is a simple one. The only thing that adds some sophistication is the deep bitter note that I'm getting. Might it be merlot or even amaretto? Whatever it is, is not bad at all. But beware: If you don't like cherry scented food such as cherry candy, syrup and so on, forget about black cherry merlot. I can imagine that some people may find it unpleasant. If not, it definitely stands its name.

I think this smells like a red Lifesaver candy! I first realized that when I had the foaming hand soap. The FFM isn't as strongly scented as the hand soap. It's softer. I like the scent, but on its own it's a little to fruity and juvenile. I like it layered with any of my cherry perfumes. It's also really nice layered with Sweet Whiskey as well. I wish the wine note was more prevalent. I don't find it boozy at all. It's just sweet like the Lifesaver candy.

One of those scents they try to sell in body care (like Leaves) that ends up only sold in home fragrances such as the candles, room spray, or soap. I expected it to be longer lasting. Most of their mists have some lasting power. This one doesn’t. If they’d amp up the cherry it would be better.

I’ve got this in the lotion, and mine is definitely expired. However, I remember what it smelled like when it was good, and it was fantastic, like a cherry slushie from the movie theater. I do believe that firecracker pop is similar enough to satisfy my wanting for it.

I smelled the 2023 version. It smells like cherry Blow Pops to me. I don't get any alcoholic notes or almond/marzipan/powder from this. It's just a linear sour-but-sweet cherry lollipop.

This instantly makes me nauseated and gives me a massive headache. I'd wish for cloying if that were it's only offense. Absolutely ruins me toward other berry centric scents.

Cherry flavored Kool aid all the way. Smells beautiful, but DOES NOT LAST whatsoever. Disappears within minutes.
