Book Loft

my first love from bath and body works. the notes on the bottle are crisp bergamot, neroli, and cozy woods. i think that it must be brighter and pepper-y on paper because on my clothes and skin it just reads so cozy and comforting. i'm not the biggest fan of clean scents in terms of what i prefer to wear, but this truly makes me so happy every time i smell it. it's clean and comforting without being boring and screechy. i want to buy every product they sell in this scent. it's that bad. i think you have to separate the name from the scent for sure. it's not really a direct book or paper scent. it reminds me of being cozied up in a ruffle of fresh warm bedsheets and fluffy pillows while you read a library book. it's woody and powdery like a book can be, though the neroli stops it from being a true stick your nose in a book scent. staying power is okay, definitely not a strong sillage, but maybe with layering the scent can project a little more. makes me want to try l'eau papier.

Ugh I love this scent sooo much, so disappointed they didnt bring it back for the fall this year. I ended up buying Diptyque L'eau Papier because of this, and honestly this one is a little better. Leau Papier has a little bit of sweetness to it that this doesn't have, and that gives this an edge. I definitely feel the paper vibe. Something about it gives the vibe of opening a brand new book and smelling/feeling the dry, crisp clean white pages of it and hearing the crisp page turning noises as you turn the page lol. This is more dry, clean and powdery than Leau Papier. Very VERY similar though and both are stellar fragrances. I also bought the BDK Saint Honore fragrance because it's supposed to smell similar to Leau Papier and to me that one is the worst of these three, and doesn't smell as crisp and paper-y as these two. I also bought an arab supposed dupe of this and Leau Papier online recently and will update my review when I get it.

I blind-bought this, thinking it would be a good dupe of Diptyque Papier.... Its not. But it's actually better, in my opinion. Its slightly more floral- but bergamot, whereas Papier is mimosa. Bookloft does not have the pepper that is a main in Papier. It sits softly on the skin, and really gives off a calm, composed feeling. The listed notes here are completely wrong, there is absolutely no mahogany or lavender. I actually went around my office holding two testers- one with Papier, and the other with Bookloft. I asked which one they thought was the $200 fragrance vs the $20, and whether they were similar enough for one to be a "dupe". The results were split 50/50 on the price, and most agreed that its a good dupe, just Papier had pepper, which is absent in Bookloft.

i needed some time with this one. on first impression on paper, all i got was neroli and while it felt summer-appropriate, it wasn’t what i expected or wanted. on revisiting it, again on paper, i got more bergamot. and then on my third impression, i wore it heavily on my skin and clothes, and i fell in love. maybe i just needed more time to get to know the scent, or maybe the other smells in store were distorting the notes. yes, you definitely get neroli and bergamot, but the scent texture is overall surprisingly creamy, with a fuzzy musk heavily underlying the whole scent experience. it’s so cozy but still so classy, and perfectly unisex. it also performs and lasts surprisingly well for a clean musk scent!

Can confirm that this smells veryyyy similar to Diptyque L'eau Papier. A really beautiful unique scent, smells clean and musky but definitely has a dark academia fall quality. It smells like new books to me not old. Like you're walking into Barnes and Noble and you get whiffs of that clean fresh crisp new sheets of paper smell. Maybe I'm just associating with that bc it's called Book Loft lol. The lasting power is what you'd expect from a mist but the Diptyque one is very light and also horrendous lasting power and so not worth the price so you might as well get this with the bodycare to layer!

I absolutely love this. I was bored at BBW smelling their new body sprays and this one really caught my nose. I purchased it and went home and could not stop smelling it from the bottle and spraying it on myself. About an hour later I gave in and went back to BBW to get the whole line of this (the shower gel, lotion, and body cream). The scent is beautiful, cozy, addictive, and musky. It's reminiscent of l'eau papier but I think I like the smell of this even more. I will be layering my perfumes with this allll fall and winter and I can't wait.

I love this. It really does bring to mind books. Like old books in a library lol. It’s a comforting smell. But there’s something in it that makes it wearable as a perfume. There is a perfume EDP not listed on Fragrantica by Wicked Good called Papier Blanc that smells exactly like it which is widely known to be a dupe of L'Eau Papier by Diptyque. I do own the Wicked Good dupe and it’s wonderful. Also, the notes listed are confusing to me, as I smell neither lavender nor mahogany.

I got a sample of L’eau Papier and was getting ready to purchase a full bottle. I heard that book loft smelled very similar to it so I ran to BBW to give it a try, immediately left the store with 4 bottles. It’s amazing how spot on this is, I can’t tell the difference between the two. Book loft lasts for hours on me and I don’t have to shell out $200 for a bottle!. I’m gonna be so sad when BBW stops selling this, now I’ve gotta buy 5 more bottles.

Definitely gives l'eau Papier by Dyptique. Love it. I'm not a fan of lavender, but this immediately was a win for me. After reading the notes, I do smell the lavender. So if that's a problem, may not be for you. Initially before knowing about the lavender, it made me think of Harry Potter. Robes, heavy curtains, library, wood laden hallways, hardwood chairs, green desk lamps and warm lighting. Velvet cords. A fitting name.

A beautiful, musky, neroli heavy, skin scent. Reminds me vaguely of Glossier You, Phlur Missing Person, and Finery Without a Trace — Book Loft is certainly not identical to any of those but has a very similar vibe! I would describe it as very neroli heavy, with a soft, fluffy musk and slightly spicy-woodsy base. It’s a beautiful floral, musky, clean scent that I adore wearing this is spring, summer, and early fall :)

this is a woody, musky scent. i don’t own a ton of b&bw scents, so i can’t compare to their musks (i’d imagine they’re similar) but this is a surprising love for me. certainly unisex. aptly named. it’s warm and there seems to be a hint of spice to it. 10/10 for me, which surprised me. it’s a mist so longevity isn’t great, but i’m happy to reapply these. one of my favorites since guilty as fig (RIP)

This smells like BDK Saint Honore 312! That’s also comparable to L’eau Papier and BBW Musk. In my opinion this is all in the same DNA as L’eau Papier but it’s not identical. Musk from the Clean line is closer to L’eau Papier. Book Loft is more of a dupe for BDK. It’s a lovely cozy scent. I’m happy to have them all. I hope that this one sticks around. I did stock up and I got 3 bottles.

I have for a long time been obsessed with L’eau Papier, and smelt this on a trip to Canada. WOW! You immediately get a rice-like note, it feels sweeter and fluffier than L’eau Papier’s and I would argue that it’s even stronger smelling. It definitely projects more even if longevity isn’t the best. Ignore the notes, to me it smells like mimosa and sweet musk!

This is such a good alternative or addition to so many soft/musky/paper-y perfumes like it. I know a few coworkers/friends who like it too (pretty unisex scent) I hope it stays in the BBW roster forever ;; But yes. If you like Not a Perfume, Commodity paper, L'eau Papier, You(Glossier), etc. more or less, feel free to give Book Loft a try :D

I’m pleasantly shocked at how well the longevity for this is, especially with it being a body mist! I did layer it with the matching lotion so maybe that helped but wow!! And then the next time I wore it I layered it with L’Eau Papier. Perfect layering combo with wonderful longevity.

DNA of L'eau Papier, Glossier You, BDK 312 St. Honore. But of course watered down with alcohol. Don't ask for sillage, don't ask for strength. This is like the whisper of the mentioned DNA. The notes listed maybe wrong. For gourmand lovers, you can layer this with vanilla-ey perfume.

This body spray is lovely! It's woody and clean with the lavender, but the lavender isn't so in your face. To me, anyone could wear this. They, thems, man, woman, child... any of you could wear this. It's just a clean, woody scent that isn't cloying.

Such a beautiful, clean smelling frag. I knew I had to get this when I was at B&BW getting Fall fragrances. This actually has a distinct, papery smell paired with a kind of 'fresh sheets' scent that hangs on the dry down.

The notes are incorrect. The correct posted notes are bergamot, neroli and woods. This is very similar to Leau Papier and probably a repackage of No.3 Musk. I love this fragrance and which it was in the core line up.

Honestly in my opinion it smells like settling in a corner of a dusty old library filled with all kinds of old books. It’s got an almost smoky incense quality to it. Like a dusty old leather book.

Incredibly delightful, easy to wear and gets tons of compliments. Reminds me of an overworked librarian who you're in a lesbian situationship and after you visit her the scent still lingers

Cozy and soft yet present. This is beautiful. If your a skin scent but better girly you need to get this. If you liked vanilla suede from BBW then you will enjoy this too

Their best mist of all time... gives clean fresh soft powdery laundry with light neroli and soft woods. This is unisex and light.

Notes are listed wrong. This smells exactly like the candle version, which smells like BDK 312. I stocked up.

Woody, floral, aromatic, fresh spicy, softly sweet, herbal, sensual, charming, whimsical, inviting, cozy, comforting, soothing, calming, unique The notes listed on the bottle are crisp bergamot, neroli, and cozy woods. However, I do think I pick up on some lavender and mahogany (the notes listed here) as well. This is a rather unique and interesting scent to me, especially since I typically go for vanillas, gourmands, and beachy/coconut scents. To me this is mainly woody and aromatic with a calming floral facet of what I believe is lavender. Overall it gives me a delightfully cozy and comforting feeling. I can picture myself curling up by a warm fire with my favorite book as I look out the window and see the leaves falling from the trees in a cold wind as it rains. For reference, some of my favorite B&BW scents include Coco Paradise, At the Beach, Oahu Coconut Sunset, Beach Nights, Boardwalk Marshmallow Clouds, Forever Sunshine, Cashmere Glow, Whipped Honey & Vanilla, Aspen Caramel Woods, Fireside Flurries, Bonfire Bash, Frosted Snowdrop, Cozy Vanilla Bourbon, Vanilla Romance, Pistachio Glaze

As a L'Eau Papier lover this FFM really pulled me in. Although this is one dimensional compared to Leau Papier, it still pairs well with it. I think it’s a nice clean musky scent, reminds me of going to study in a university library on a crisp cold day. If you have been wanting to try L'Eau Papier but the price tag is throwing you off, def give book loft a go! But do keep in mind it’s not the same but it’s in the same family.

I feel like this is Musk no. 3 just rebottled. I am not really getting lavendar or mohogany. It's nice just not what I expected ...I will take it to layer with Diptyque Leau Papier and get a little more bang for my buck. I will say that there is a slight caramel accord to this which Musk no. 3/LP both lack which is interesting.

I am in love with the olfactory experience I get from this scent but I have found the mist to be temperamental. Book Loft is heavenly as a wallflower and I wish the mist captured the same essence. At its best, this scent captures a very intimate, tranquile, comforting, cozy feeling. It's a complete vibe.

I have the spray and the lotion. I really liked this at first, but I’m getting slowly sick of it. A bit heavy for me, doesne help that I wore it at the beginning of the school year so now it smells like school 💔

Immediately, it reminded me of magazines. The opening smells like those thick glossy magazines, but as it dries down, it’s starting to smell like BDK 312 Saint-Honoré. They smell exactly the same.

If you want dupe at a reasonable price now that BBW ended the sale run of Book Loft, Dossier Musky Musk has the same paper scent without the slightly sweet floral note.

I dunno...the neroli is strong and bitter. It kind of smells like someone's house. It doesn't smell like books or paper at all. And anyone saying this has any amount of sweetness is literally out of their knocker. It resembles something like a cleaner or a carpet cleaner. Once again, it does not smell like books or a book store. If you don't like neroli stay away from this. And fragrantica, where did you get lavender and mahogany?...it's not even like it smells like those notes...get it together. This is unisex as it just smells like a household cleaning product. Maybe like a wet wipe for kitchen counters. Some are saying that if you like glossier You, you'll like this..but that's simply not true. Glossier you smells more like paper/books/pencil shavings. This book loft is very polarizing

It’s powdery and it smells like fresh laundry and apples. It’s fresh and it reminds me of ironing clothes in a good way. I think it’s a choice for people who like powdery scents.

When I first smelled this I had to do a "double -smell" and then immediately went, "Wtf is neroli doing in something named Book Loft?!" -And that's the tl;dr version of the review to follow: After being well aquainted with Diptyque's L'eau Papier and owning Musk No. 3 from B&BW, I was frustrated to discover that Book Loft does not resemble either. This is a neroli scent first and foremost with the familiar dry/modern woods accord present in everything now from Amouage to literal cat litter (not a dig just an observation). If you enjoy clean girl minimalist unisex but feminine-leaning shower fresh translucent innocent florals and the compelling contrast with orange blossom hydrosols over clean trendy niche of the moment bases, Book Loft will not disappoint. However.... It is absolutely nothing at all like the smell of books (hint of sweet vanillin-tinted warm, dry wood, amber, musk, powder, tonka, ambrette or lactones or heliotropin, orris, leather, any of those things...) nor is it like a single one of the, "smells like paper, smells like a study, smells like a library etc." niche and indie scents which have already been released and have become so abundant in the past decade. This scent was very unfortunately named since it's for big neroli lovers who don't mind all the new synthetic woods. This is a floral green woody scent. For those who don't know what neroli smells like, it's like a more natural version of Coppertone sunscreen, or white bar soap with a hint of pollen and leaves. As L'eau Papier dupes go, the discontinued B&BW Musk No. 3 was a great budget one, and those in search of something cozy and paper-like but still available for sale at B&BW should consider Sunwashed Santal. It's not like Musk No. 3 but it does smell like an actual warm, slightly dusty old book.

This smells nothing like Commodity Book- or Book (expressive). I own full bottles of both and they literally smell absolutely nothing alike. As far as Commodity Paper goes, I don’t think they smell similar either. Commodity Paper has a cedar note that pulls extremely musty & dusty on my skin, I have a 30mL of it, and while they layer nicely, I don’t think you’ll find them similar if you’re trying to find a replacement for book loft. I just wanted to share my experience for anyone who loves this fragrance as much as I do and may be looking for an alternative. I made sure to compare them all side by side just to be sure and I promise you none of these are similar.

God I love this. It’s giving bergamot bomb on the initial spray, but quickly turns to woody, papery goodness. Like sitting in an old vintage wooden library with a new book. I’m getting a paper smell, but not like an old book, but a fresh new book smell iykwim😂. It’s just so fresh and comforting. I think I go nose blind to it quickly though. I neeeeeeed a perfume that smells like this so I can smell it on myself all day. BBW released this scent at the perfect time. This is like a cool morning in late summer, reminding you that fall is on the way.

Bought this since I'm absolutely in love with the candle and wallflower and thought those two smelled so similar to L'eau Papier. The opening is exactly like candle and wallflower, but there's a strong floral in the drydown which I'm not a huge fan of. Fragrantica says lavender but I think it's the neroli; definitely a white floral note. The candle lists the same notes, but I don't get a floral in the candle. At $6 a bottle though, I'll take it!

To me, this smells like the musk body sprays BBW has been putting out: If You Musk, No. 3 Musk, Clean Musk, and Musk. I smelled it in the store and loved it, but then when I got it home and smelled it there, I realized it's just the BBW musk. If you can smell other notes in Book Loft, I'm happy for you! But I do not.

A gentle version of Glossier You to me, also JHAG Not A Perfume, so if you like those, this will work for you. I also find it similar to the long gone B&BW Kaleidoscope. To me, it is a floral woody musk. I will be after the lotion and shower gel. I work in a library and keep this in our bathroom.

I love the smell of this but I don't think I would want to smell like it lol. It's reminiscent of an attic with a bunch of old boxes in it. 100% a JHaG Ode to Dullness dupe. Not Eau Papier. If you're looking for an Eau Papier dupe, you want B&BW Musk no. 3
