Japanese Cherry Blossom

Japanese Cherry Blossom from B&BW is powdery sweet floral, musky and woody. It feels like it has some hidden 90s powdery peach and vanilla notes in it as well. Warm and clean but not fresh. There is no cherry in it so don't go into this thinking it'll be fruity. I really like it as someone in my early 20s and I think this could be an easy reach for colder weather if I want a mist that smells more like a perfume. It would be convenient for travel if I ever have to go on a fall or winter trip. Absolutely not blind buy safe nowadays because it's different from what's popular in current fragrance trends. This fragrance is in the same family as things like Tresor, Exclamation, Avon Far Away, etc. which could explain why some people are calling it an "old lady" scent. Is Japanese Cherry Blossom dated? Yeah, it's a very 90s style of fragrance. Is it an old lady scent? I don't think enough time has passed for it to 100% qualify as that. This scent profile is relatively recent and what I believe paved the way for many sweet, often vanilla-forward fragrances popular today. Nothing bold like chypres, bitter greens, heavy spices or smoke here! It's a cozy scent that envelops you in a warm hug. JCB seems to have a bad reputation with a lot of online B&BW fans and people often wonder how it hasn't been discontinued already and questioning why it's a bestseller if "nobody" likes it. The truth is that there has to be many people that gravitate towards this older scent profile and they are likely not the ones who collect and talk online about the brand. It's probably just a more affordable version of the fragrances some people like, or nostalgia for JCB itself. A problem with this body mist is the fact that the liquid in its current formulation is bright red. It stains the paper tester and stains clothes too. Hopefully it's something that can easily be washed out of fabric. I feel like the red colour sets up false fruity expectations anyways and an amber colour like in Tresor would suit it more. Can't blame people for disliking it due to past memories... but otherwise I'm defending JCB! Just don't overspray, it's stronger than some other B&BW mists and can get pretty powdery.

They could never make me hate you, Japanese Cherry Blossom 🌸❤️ But it's very possible that I only love this scent because of nostalgia, since it was one of the first fragrances I owned back in the early 2010s, in a shimmer mist. I feel like the bottle was always beautiful. If I had never smelled this before and was just introduced to it now I fear I wouldn't like it... On my skin it just smells like slightly floral powder. On clothes the floral scent seems to stay a little longer. Okay, as I'm smelling it right now I'm realizing that maybe this isn't that good... But I still love it 🥲 ETA: I wonder if it might have been a little bit different 15ish years ago Also I wish it had more sweetness. WHERE is the pear??? I don't smell pear at all and I wish I did

So.. for many years I stayed away from Japanese Cherry Blossom, avoided at all costs given that EVERYONE says this smells like either an old lady or hospital.. but I swear, after wearing this fragrance for a few days I literally am so ready to get a full bottle and maybe the entire line. This to me smells sweet, floral, powdery and fresh, and LASTS so long on skin and clothing. It makes me feel comfort? Which I’m not sure why given that my mother or anyone in my family ever worn this scent given its reputation? But to me this smells so good, and honestly doesn’t deserve the hate it gets, the bottle is so damn pretty too. If this was reformulated maybe tone down on the powder, and add a bit more freshness to it but other than that this is perfect as is ❤️🌸

Hated it at first- then one day decided to wear to work instead of my Lost Cherry (not saying there's any similarity- just didn't want to use my good shit for work) Something clicked and I fell in love with it. I think it was the sandalwood in the dry down and just the amazing breeze I caught after. JCB is very well rounded/ versatile and goes well with my body- the "all in 1 fragrance" IMO , can see why it's a cult classic of BBW. Honestly won't wear anything else from them now; can be worn year round. Very nice clean after shower smell. If you like florals like Chanel No.5, or muskier fresh fruity smells- JCB is def worth a try.

Es un aroma muy único, lo compre a ciegas y me encantó, es un perfume maduro y floral en dónde vivo no es un tipo de fragancia muy común y eso me gusta, tiene una proyección, moderada lo único negativo es que necesita muchas pulverizaciones para que se pueda llegar a percibir *bien*, aunque en la ropa dura más, para mí es mentira eso de que te mancha la ropa porque en lo personal no me pasó, es un perfume para el día a día, no es para nada dulce de hecho huele mucho a sándalo con flores muy parecido a cuando oles un incienso fresco, yo uso este perfume combinado con el flower by kenzo y quedan muy bien juntos

I know a lot of people don’t like this but I doooo. This to me is like a “innocent sweet girl” scent, it’s soft, floral, sweet, and slightly powdery. Think about that one girl in your life that is just so kind to everyone and pure, this is her in a bottle in my opinion and I live for it in fact I’m probably gonna get the perfume version. I’d say this perfume is for middle schoolers all the way up to mid 30s. It’s super basic but basic is likable and there’s nothing wrong with that 🫶 embrace your basicness girliepops 🌷⭐️🌸

Best scent at BBW period. Not cloying at all smh. I've loved it the moment I first smelled it many years ago, and the love is going strong ya'll. I have friends who don't like fragrances compliment me every time I wear it. Stop spraying 20 sprays all over and then complain it's cloying tf. Do you know how many lives japanese cherry blossom have saved? jk but like fr tho.

I don't know how old the bottle I smelled just now was but you guys must be getting duds or are spraying it too much because this is one of the most beautiful and feminine body mist from bath and body works (and just in general) the cherry blossom note is soooo strong but I can smell every note listed and they just blend in the best way. Far from b&bw's worst scent <3

This to me is the epitome of “polite” very inoffensive. If it were a person it would be the cute sweet shy girl that is very kind and you can’t hate. BUT if you over spray it WILL smell very cheap and synthetic not gonna lie. It’d be good for very very casual events or sick days because it won’t project very far it just won’t and I like it for that reason.

i used to wear this in high school. i have since ran out of a bottle that i used for years, and i have never once got tired of this scent. the cherry blossom is super sweet and addictive, and its balanced out perfectly with the sandalwood and musk. it's amazing for layering. although not my favorite body mist from bbw, this one is perfect for spring.

I don’t understand why anyone would “hate” this. It’s floral, clean, and slightly powdery. It’s simple and beautiful. I understand why some people say it’s for an older audience but anyone can weird this and just smell pretty and put together for cheap. I recently got the lotion version after 10 years of not smelling it, and I’m so happy.

very old lady-like in the most lovely way. i love this spray soo much. it’s floral, very powdery and almost.. chalky? i cant think of any other way to describe it but it’s not bad in the slightest. a very comforting scent, and it especially works as someone who often goes for more vintage/retro looks

its a soft floral fragrance. i personally hate florals and am more of a vanilla person but this one is still a very good fragrance to me because the florals aren't harsh or old lady-ish. smells like floraly clean laundry and is very long lasting. Basically an elegant perfumey smell and a good one

In my opinion this is a very wonderful smelling spray mist that should be worn by someone that appreciates it's great fragrance, long lasting and makes you feel relaxed. I love it and my husband loves it to He wear's it really well and always get's compliments on how good he smell's.

I don’t really care what anyone says about this scent. It’s so fresh, so light and comforting. I wear this to bed when I’m in the mood. Something about this is really uplifting, I find it soft and it dries down to such a clean skin scent. Love, it has earned the popularity imo

primarily floral and very fruity obv, it *is* strong but that's what I like about it. polarizing, but i wear it for that purpose. a bit earthy after a while, like someone just splintered a branch of it off and shoved it in my face.

I just got this recently as a gift and I was really surprised. It does smell like strong version of The Ritual of Sakura from Rituals. Which is a scent I really enjoy. It's surprisingly strong and quite long lasting.

Powdery, clean, floral, and perfect. My favorite body spray of all time. This scent is timeless and I’m completely in love with it. Great for layering, great for every season and everyday. So inexpensive as well!

this used to have me in a chokehold and if i wasnt a berry kiss disco ball i was wafting the scent of japanese cherry blossom like an active volcano blowing smoke. the scent is nostalgic and potent love this

One of my signature scents. It's mature and sweet. Say what you want, but it is in it's own class and does it's own thing. definitely recognizable and identifiable for that reason.

A casual scent I normally wear for school. It has a sweet floral aroma. This fragance is one of my favorites, I recommend for young girls seeking a good fragrance!!!

The craziest thing happened to me while wearing this body spray!!! Obviously, we know that this perfume has been extremely popular for years! Because of it’s popularity I’ve been drawn to it but also avoided it. Lol I’ve sampled it many times when I was younger and always got the inviting mature-mother perfume vibe. I have purchased it several times, but for others. Never for myself. Anyway, I went to Bath and Body Works when they were running a sale on the wallflowers and purchase the Japanese Cherry Blossom with 10 other scents. When I got home, the JCB wallflower broke after I plugged it in. How? I have no idea but I was not going to waste the product inside so I placed the bottle on the counter while I figured out how to utilize it. I washed my hands and went out to run errands with my daughter. Well, the smell followed me all day because it lingered on my fingers and the smell was completely beautiful and captivating. Immediately I purchased the body spray. Lucky for me, when I went to the store they were having a sale... the mists were only $4.95. So here’s the crazy part! I made a sale on OfferUp and the guy came to pick up the household item. He was in his car, and I gave him the product through the passenger window. He messaged me an hour later apologize for asking me, but he wanted to know the name of the perfume that I was wearing. I am so shocked that he was able to smell my scent from the passenger window ! I mixed this with sweater weather and went to meet up with someone from FB market place that purchased an item I posted. Well... she messaged me an hour later to ask me for my fragrance because the items I sold her smelled so good. I have a question for you, do you know a perfume that smells just like Japanese Cherry Blossom. I would love a concentrated higher quality version. Edit : this reminds me of Vanilla Sky ! Lol

Bath & Body Works best. This was, is, a popular and beloved fragrance. It is a timeless, ageless, genderless fragrance. Anyone can wear it and feel great. It is for me a stay at home and feel good comfort fragrance and or after shower and before bed kind of scent. It can be worn daily to any place at all any time of the year, but being cherry blossom-forward, this is totally a spring time thing. The first thing one picks up on is something fresh and floral, and quite pink, similar to a rose scent, but it is the cherry blossom in all it's glory. It is creamy, but not heavy, and with the extra addition of jasmine and mimosa, it is like entering a little Japanese garden with the perfume of the flowers in the air caressing your nose. If you like floral scents, and I do, especially for before I head out to start my day sometimes or right before bed, this is such a beautiful cherry blossom/Japanese garden scent, without overdoing it. The dry down comes quick and it is a sandalwood. The 'wood' note even recreates the cherry blossom trees that grow in Japan. Feels like walking under cherry blossom trees. This scent is not complex, doesn't last very long, not going to turn heads, but it is just a simple and well-blended delicious floral fragrance with a touch of wood. For longer lasting effects, try the body lotion and then put on the fragrance and re-apply. I will never stop wearing this fragrance. I've loved it ever since it was first release and pray that it never turns into one of those obscure rare discontinued perfumes.

I almost purchased this last night at B&B and I might go back and get it. I can see why one of the reviewers below said it made her feel put together like EL Red Door (a signature of mine and my wedding fragrance) this is a very sandalwood heavy fragrance. The florals and fruits are there but they are not the main star of the show, it is the deep and intriguing sandalwood mingling with amber accord. This smells elegant, mysterious. Almost otherworldly. I'm surprised they can create such lovely and unique perfumes for such little money. I loved B&B back in the 90s but fell out of love for many years. I might be back in love now. I will go back and smell it again. But I do remember being sad I didn't walk out w/ it. I'm not usually a fan of Cherry blossom but here w/ the powdery mimosa and sandalwood it adds a mysterious depth. This isn't a fragrance for the young crowd. Mature women only. Went out and bought this. The perfume is even better. A beautiful cherry blossom, jasmine, amber sandalwood with a touch of pear. Beautifully blended.

Maybe that’s why their general demographic are hating on it; it’s more mature, but it is such a beauty to my older nose. It starts a bit sharp and strong with clean laundry-like musk, so I can’t be trigger happy with it as with the other B&BW’s products. Not much fruit emanates from my skin, except maybe a hint of plum. It then eases into a sublime scent. Delicate cherry blossoms, powdery mimosas, a smooth sandalwood, a creamy clean musk, and a whiff of incense. Complex but in a subtle -and dare I say -sophisticated way. Cozy and zen.

Somehow I’d never smelled this (as far as I know), and I was recently gifted a pack of this with body spray, body wash, candle, etc. I was shocked at how good it smells to me, especially the shower gel! I wouldn’t wear it as “perfume” but it’s really lovely layered for a shower or bath ritual. It’s completely easy on the nose, and quite pretty. I love sandalwood, and my chemistry seems to being out the sandalwood and leave the florals behind. That’s probably why I enjoy this so much. I get that scent memories overwhelm perception of fragrances. Luckily I don’t have any with this one, and I had no idea it’s been around for many years!

this is a classic b&bw scent that i've repurchased in different forms (mist, cream, scrub, etc.) throughout my school years. i bought it again with a coupon just because i felt nostalgic for it. it reminds me of early mornings getting ready for dreadful days, of silly drama and endless homework. yet somehow that hasn't changed my enjoyment of this scent. i smell the innocent florals and i think about how happy i am that that phase is over. every spray of this now has a different freshness due to the calm in my new adult life + ̊‧ ۶ৎ ̊.

This was the first fragrance I had, I had it in both lotion and soap form, and I still have it in perfume form :] It's admittedly kinda generic, apparently it's a very VERY common fragrance to gift someone. But there's a reason for that, it's not necessarily a stand out scent, but it's also inoffensive. It's pleasant flowery and a little fruity, I can't imagine anyone not finding it pleasant!! While not as exciting as other scents (IMO), it is a very pleasant one :]

This might be a slightly delusional review but... am I crazy to think that this is unisex? Anyway, this is a nice scent, it's floral, fresh, and softly woody. Of course, the performance isn't the best it could be but what can you really expect, it's a mist! I don't get all the hate for this perfume... like what? I am quite picky with floral perfumes and even I don't hate this. I don't understand.

One of my besties sent me more of her unused Bath & Body Works items again, so let's review them! This is the first of two in the fourth shipment she's sent my way. This is honestly such a nostalgic fragrance for me. A lot of the women in my life wore this when I was a child, so I think of them when I smell this. It's simply a mature, musky, slightly creamy and sweet cherry blossom scent.

I’m wondering if this scent has this much unbridled hate because of the brand and the fact that it’s a body mist. I find that it’s a nice floral linear smell. Nothing to write home about but I used to get a lot of compliments when wearing it. I don’t really purchase from BBW outside candles now but this scent and a lot of others they carry are nostalgic, safe, and reliable.

this was one of the bath and body works i was obsessed with as a kid/young teen. i was a weeb so of course the name was the reason i even wanted it, but i grew to really like it. i think hating on it has been a trending thing recently, but it's really just a mediocre floral scent that i rate higher due to nostalgia. she's not bad at all. 2.5/5!

For me, this smells exactly like summer; because for some reason I find hints of sunscreen smell in it. Though it doesn't stand out as a smell, it is certainly nice and clean-scented. Weird enough I can't smell much of cherry blossom, but rather an overwhelming jasmine. Overall, a nice scent; clean and on the more floral side.

This was my go-to when I was in sixth grade, albeit in lotion form. Smelled the spray in stores recently and it doesn't smell the way it used to, but I'll always remember her and hope that she smells differently to me in the future (or, if they changed the formula, that the original comes back eventually). my best friend gifted me the diamond spray in 2021. its very floral, very fresh too, like shampoo. has a hint of fruitiness from what i remember. but it’s very nice, this used to be a signature scent of mine in 7th grade and this perfume symbolized the start of our best friendship so i only put it on when i get nostalgic

My brother bought this (and the lotion) for me as a gift. I like it as a basic, affordable floral. I can see why others dislike it--if you like feminine, warm, or sunny florals, this is probably not a floral you will love. I think it's unisex. Powdery, cool floral with a touch of sandalwood.

For me, this is a warm, musky floral. I don't get much fruit in the scent. It's very soft and doesn't project very far. A good any day scent, but not every day. I like it and I've had it in my collection for years and re-bought. However, it's not the most interesting scent BBW has on offer.

For a springtime flower, JCB's fragrance is musky and warm. I'm more compelled to wear during fall and winter when it's less humid. It's popular among some of my co-workers, but I don't see it as a daytime fragrance at all. It's way too warm, musky, and deep. Much better for a date night.

I like this a lot, but I wish the newer formula lasted longer. It’s still got that sweet floral kick, but it wears off after only a few hours. This would be a great first fragrance for a middle schooler OR a wonderful casual scent for someone who doesn’t like really strong scents.

This perfume has been around long enough that I've even gifted it to my little sister for Christmas. I remember my mom and sister buying this every time they step foot in a Bath and Body Works store, the scent has become ingrained in my mind by now.

I exclusively use this as a nighttime mist (also Moonlight Path) bc of the clean powdery vibes. It’s a floral cherry with that very grandma-y feel but I find comfort in it because of that 🤷 Layers well with the Jergens cherry almond lotion too!!

Really enjoy this. But dont overspray . It's very floral . With powdery soapy dry down which I really enjoy. Way different than Bbw Cherry blossom , which smells like watermelon. This is very clean floral. Long lasting. Great value.

I can't hate this fragrance just because people are complaining about it now. I had the lotion in this scent as well as the perfume in middle school and thought it was really nice smelling. Its floral and sweet and cute!
