I would like to thank everyone in this review thread, just blind bought the "Fragrance World" clone "Hard Wood" after reading about it. You all ROCK!! I can't wait to get this in-house!! Special shout out to @MKPUNK for suggesting this frag on the forum! 06OCT23 REVIEW: Whoa boy...this is smooooooooth!! I wasn't expecting this level of sophistication and smoothness. Opens up with a light citrus and amber kick that is VERY refreshing. Then the Clary Sage, Tonka Bean and Mahogany or Sandalwood kick in and give it an even smoother feel. I can't say that I specifically picked up on the Mahogany or Cognac since I don't know what either of those smell like...but the sandalwood gives this a creamy and slightly woody tone to the fragrance. The Bourbon Vanilla gives it a sweetness that makes the whole composition alluring...but not playful. They really knocked this one outta the park! The composition on this "Hard Wood" definitely works! Longevity on my skin with 12-16 sprays total was about 6 hours to skin scent though...so carry a travel sprayer if you plan on smelling like this all day. I got a few compliments while picking up breakfast this morning by two different women at two different stores. But don't forget...how you look and carry yourself makes more of a difference than anything. How you smell is just the icing on the cake! 07OCT23 UPDATE: This fragrance has helped me figure out why I've had a longstanding disagreement with the note of "Amber" in fragrances!!!!!!! With Amber fragrances....if I sleep with them on, the morning after, I smell like I've been...faintly sweaty...or as posh women say, "Glistening". The sheets and my pillow smell like I had a hot-flash in the night, or the fan stopped working and I didn't wake up from the heat. "Amber" is apparently the natural scent of my body! I can smell that EXACT SAME NOTE when I do not shower overnight. I always wondered why my wife says that she loves the smell of my "Natural Scent" when to me it smells faintly......sweaty. Now I get it...I now understand why I never liked "Amber"...it's because it reminds me of ME! Sadly, the mental association I have with my personal body scent is one of embarrassment and negativity thanks to my mother. Thats why I never believed my wife when she told me how great I smell naturally because of childhood trauma. I will have to work on accepting my natural body scent as something good and not bad...and similarly, the long dry-down of "Amber" fragrances. I will also have to explore synergistic usages of "Amber" fragrances in the future... Wow...who would have thought a fragrance would help me get to the bottom of some childhood trauma. I didn't even need to bring this up to the therapist!!!

Bath & Body Works Mahogany Woods is a bit of a mystery scent wise but oh so good. E from Simply Put Scents named it in his top 10 bargain fragrances for the Fall. It is from the house of Bath & Body Works, a house that puts out fairly cheap eau de cologne fragrances for men. Their Ocean was my first scent and I love it, even if it is rather light. Mahogany Woods is a woody scent in the opening with a heavy mahogany which is rare for most scents but with its bourbon vanilla dry down, it turns nearly gourmand-ish. This so unique for a scent. I hear a number of A*Men Pure Havane comparisons but it is not at all smokey or have a tobacco note to it. Instead, it is clean. Not in a soapy way because it is rather boozy, though not in a overly way like say 212 VIP (not that I hate the smell of that fragrance) so it is more of a work-friendly booze scent. Even for a school, like me. Bath and Body Works is one of my favorite houses and this fragrance more than lives up to the hype it has earned for me. The smell lasts about 10-12 hours on a good day in ideal conditions with becoming a skin scent at the 3-4 hour mark. Sillage is pretty good too despite it being an edc rather than an edt or edp. It is an all day scent for fall and winter but because of the edc, it could be used even in summer if done very lightly. Overall Mahogany Woods is a scent I am glad that Simply Put Scents turned me onto. I have to give this scent a 8.5 out of 10. While I love that it turns nearly into a gourmand, it is a little too vanilla heavy for my liking.

Sweet mahogany mother of god. To preface, I have never loved woody scents too much, at least where it’s the main focus. I originally thought this would be similar to something like Autumn Leaves from MM, which... literally just smells like leaves. But when I first smelled this, I was instantly captivated by a mix of cognac, vanilla, tonka bean, and just the perfect amount of mahogany. I feel like the embodiment of a warm house in an autumn forest, with candles lit, blankets out, maybe a grandad lighting a pipe on the porch, and hugs all around. Naturally, I ain’t ever had that shit growing up. I got suburban Detroit ranch, dog slobber on the kitchen floors, torn carpet, and my dad hitting a vape in the living room. Maybe they’ll make a fragrance capturing that one day. Regardless, this is just spectacularly unique. The tiny hit of chili pepper spice on top of vanilla sandalwood/mahogany is what truly seals the deal for me, giving it that slight push of masculinity I wasn’t expecting with this. Was lucky to find this where I did. Anyways, let me know if I can find that suburban Detroit dog slobber vape fragrance anywhere around.

I had never heard of this fragrance, and because it is BBW, I wouldn't have cared even if I had. I know, fragrance snob. However, I bought some fragrances and the seller included a small sample of this. Out of all the things I bought, which included a variety of well-known greats, this one came up consistently as being one of the best, most pleasant of the bunch. I told the seller as much, who replied, "Mahogany Woods is an incredible fragrance. It is one of my most complimented fragrances that I own." I decided to search for it, only to find it wasn't a BBW throw away, but a discontinued gem with insane prices online. I held off on buying it, but eventually found a bottle for $100 shipped. Not gonna lie, it is a hefty price for what it is. However, I think worth it (to me) because there is nothing quite like it that I have in my collection. Some things that are gourmand and warm/boozy come to mind: Ferragamo Uomo, D&G The One , Jazz Club, Zara Rich/Warm/Addictive, Eau des Baux, Rochas Man, Choco Musk, Chocolate Greedy, etc. But nothing is quite like this. It is more gourmand than D&G The One but more cologny than Rochas Man.

Got this in a swap years ago. Here's my experience during my first 5 wearings over a 3 month period... 1. Not bad. Not great. But enjoying. 2. Damn that dry down is really nice. This is growing on me. 3. On a train. Damn someone smells amazing. Wow I think it's me. Hour later in office. It is me. F*CK this is good. 4. Date night. Wife says "Now I love that one." Did you spend half our mortgage on that one? I can tell it's expensive. (S 5. Waitress. "I'm sorry but do you mind telling me what cologne you have?" (Maybe she wanted a big tip lol). 6. Wore yesterday. I think I'm addicted. I'm going to get another bottle. Although I won't buy a backup because this fragrance went all viral. Prices are crazy $250 average. Apparently I wasn't the only one that got addicted. Oh well I'll just use sparingly until the "hype" goes down I hope. As for the scent itself. Others explain it better. I just wanted to tell my experience on how this grew on me until I craved the whiffs. There's something in the sh*t. If you never smelled it don't buy it. Too expensive. I'm starting to think the high prices are those that need their sniff fix.

One of my wife's favorites on me and for good reason... it's a masculine but smooth scent. People are correct when they say this deserves the hype. The price hike can be expected because of its scarcity. If you have a bottle do not sell it. I guarantee Mahogany Woods is going to fetch a hefty price in a few years, probably upwards of $200-300 and that's no joke! Of course there are people that will say it sucks and not worth the cost. But every fragrance is subjective so who cares! The rare hate for this does not explain why so many people love it. My wife and her female friends go all gaga when I wear this cologne, and that's a huge plus in my book. Ideal for fall and winter at the office as well in casual and even formal occasions. Very versatile in the colder months. Grab a bottle if you can before the price gouging gets out of hand. And it will!

I heard about this fragrance from Steven at Redolessence, so I decided to make the purchase - a good deal on the "buy two get one free" deal that B&BW has, and combined with a coupon it's a steal. WOW. This could have been bottled by a high profile company such as Chanel or Dior and I never would have known. On my skin I pick up amber, a bit of sweet tobacco, and some woods. It's like a combination of Ambre Narguile, maybe some YSL L'homme, and a sprinkle of Pure Havane minus the cherry note. It's really smells wonderful on me. Good for casual all the way to a night out, also good for the workplace. Very versatile, can be worn by a male or female, but leans masculine. Not a powerhouse, projects for a few hours then sits close to the skin for another 4 hours or so. Very happy to have this in my collection.

Jumped on the hype train and bought the clone “fragrance world hard wood” and this smells amazing. I sprayed it on my shirt I wear at home after a shower and immediately loved it. Has a perfect blend and balance to it with the woodiness, amber, vanilla, and just a slightttt hint of booze, and for $39 CAD?!? I can’t complain at all, I actually even was able to smell it on my shirt the very next day at night about a whole 24 hours later! Doesn’t project like a monster but longevity is definitely there & it’s not that super sweet cloying smell you get with some fragrances. I think this is an easy buy and definitely grabbing a back up bottle as I see myself wearing the heck out of this during the upcoming fall & winter season!

This is an amazing hidden gem in the world of fragrance. The fact it is now discontinued now means it probably always will remain that way and many will never get to experience the cosey scent of Mahogany Woods. I absolutely love this perfume and just happened to see it instore when I was in Newyork last year. After spraying it I ended up grabbing a bottle, two of the shower gels and one of the body mosturisers becasue the opening was so comforting and pleasent. A really nice blend of amber, Woods and boozy vanilla. I can picture being by a roaring fire at Christmas time with this fragrance on. If you enjoy sweet Ambery scents and can find this online for a decent price I suggest you grab it while you can!

You might be able to find this currently at your local Bath and Body Works on clearance for $14.75! They brought it back for their semi annual sale, and now remaining bottles are on clearance. Also there's a $10 off $30 or more, so you can technically get 2 bottles for $20! Enjoy! My local store had about 10 bottles and I bought one as a backup. I didn't want to be too greedy, but I may have to go back... I agree with those who say this is surprisingly good! This falls right next to Pure Havane in my collection, but they're not all that similar. This is an awesome scent for a somehow amazing price, and I can't believe they discontinued it! The performance is outstanding as well.

Bath & Body Works, I don't think this company listens to their clients. I haven't seen nor read any negative comments regarding Mohagony Woods... Honestly I'm shocked. The only negative comments are directed to the Company not the Fragrance itself. I did my research, eBay sellers prices were out of my league. Youtube fragrance reviewer pointed at HW You need to try out Hardwood, @BonClay confirmed with his comments. I went ahead and bought Hardwood. Honestly a Stand Alone Fragrance... Beautiful scent.. Unquestionably Beautiful fragrance. Just wondering how good is the OG. The fragrance DNA is a masterpiece.

I own the Fragrance World dupe called Hard Wood. Thought it was kinda comical originally seeing that someone cloned a bath and body works fragrance but for $20 it sounded kind of good so I tried it. One of the best blind buys ive ever made. This scent is so sexy it screams cold fall nights with your girl. Ive gotten many compliments on this from guys and girls. For a cheap scent it doesn't smell super synthetic or cheap it has a very nice whiskey vanilla smell with some smooth woods in the background. Performs very well for the price point and layers with other scents beautifully. 8.5/10

Amazing fragrance and great value, full of surprises. The first was the performance! I have tried a lot of different brands of all styles, but this was probably the best performance of all. You can wear it all day and it still hits you when you take your shirt off 10 hours later. The second surprise was discontinuing it - just crazy. Luckily I have found something close to a substitute, Baldessarini Ultimate. It's asking too much to match the performance, but the scent is on the same path if not a little sweeter. Once you spray the pepper comes flooding back.

The scent is beautiful, long lasting, and very unisex in my opinion. It is strong, so if you ever get your hands on some you won’t need much. This is one of my favorite colognes of all time and it makes me shake with anger to think that it got discontinued. I gave the last of my bottle to my boyfriend because he suits it so well. I may just have to wring the necks of the executives who agreed to have it taken out of stores, this is personal and my life will not be complete until I get my hands on another bottle or 20.

After comparing side to side the old release and new release, and expecting to smell something way different. They nailed it. The newer release is a tad bit sweeter, but overall it’s almost identical. People saying this is nothing special do not know what they are talking about. First of all there is nothing like it out there. This could easily be a niche frag and everyone would be going crazy for it. It is very unique and very very good. Take it from someone with almost 600 fragrances. This is special.

It's really sad that Mahogany Woods product lines are not being continued. I have used body lotion and perfume before. The best fragrance I've ever used. This product has special customers. And I don't understand how it got out of production. Even seeing the black market prices on Ebay is proof of how much the product is missed. There is a mail section for returning BBW products. Please send a request and they will start production again. It will also be positive for the company's men's product group.

I cant believe how good this fragrance is! Its woods and amber but its not a dark or heavy. Its kind of in the same vein as something like polo red but its still a completely different scent. It has some citrus in there to lighten it up too. Its the only scent from bath and body works worth getting. Knowing bath and body works though they will discontinue it like they do with all their good fragrances. This is kind of reminiscent of spicebomb except with woods and not in a generic way.

This is my favorite BBW scent right now. I hope they never discontinue this, I think it is one of the best they have. Its a warm woodsy scent with a teeny tiny sweetness to it. I spayed two sprays at about 10:30 am and it still smells just as good as it did this morning now at 6:30 pm. I think anyone can wear this, it's very unisex. It's cozy and warm, perfect for chilly days. I also have the lotion which to me smells like egg nog with bit of wood.

I got this for christmas one year and always thought it was just some cheap crap, but I wore it, and kept it all these years. It wasn't until I tried Dolce & Gabanna The One that I realized this perfume is heavily inspired by it, and I found a brand new love for it. To find out it was discontinued made it feel even more special. So, I still have about 50ml of this stuff, sitting right next to D&G The One on my shelf. Good stuff.

Just met a new lady friend at work whom is a frag-head. While talking the other day, she said she had purchased this long ago for her husband and he did not like it, but kept it in her closet. Sold me the bottle for $40. I had this many years ago and loved it. Very solid name, heavy woods, a slight booze and vanilla. Did I mention woods? Love the scent and will be used this coming autumn quite frequently.

I picked up the long awaited re-released of Bath & Body Works' best male fragrance. From first smell it is at least 95% close and just like the original, not a good idea to wear in summer. This is one of the more unique fragrances where I want to say it is close only in some ways to the Havane style fragrances like Insurrection Pure Wild and Havana Lounge. Obviously without the cigar tobacco notes.

Like many reviewers below I got myself the Fragrance World clone Hard Wood. It is a superb winter fragrance. A successful mix of The One EDP and Stronger With You Absolutely. The mahogany and cognac definitely brings Absolutely's boozy woodiness, however Hard Wood is drier than the Armani. It has a long-lasting dusty sweetness, too, but is ultimately all about the woods.

Bath & body works has done this to me twice now with the discontinues. First it was with one of my all-time favorite scents called Forest Moss and now this beautiful scent. It's ridiculous in my opinion why they can't just even like ramp down production to maintain the line and see the fragrances that people are really wanting and liking.

Ok this thing is awesome.. It starts off like a Pure Havane/Insurrection Pure Wild with a bourbon note... But it becomes buttery in the dry down... Its a surprisingly good fragrance. It 30 dollars which to me is a bit steep for a b.b. and b. fragrance. But quality... Is superb. I definitely recommend getting your nose on this one.

I was able to pick a bottle of this up off EBay for $80 or so. What a gorgeous scent... I came across Fragrance World clone called "Hard Wood"... and man, they nailed it. I would also say it has better performance than the OG. I just wanted to share because I can see many love this Fragrance as much as I do. Cheers!

If you can find this fragrance for a decent price jump on it! I managed to gather 6 bottles of this stuff. And that should tell you how good it is. I have a huge collection, but this stuff here is amazing. And could sell for the price it’s currently being sold for.

This is one of my favorite fragrances, it smells unique and smooth, it’s a shame bbw discontinued it especially because it was 30 dollars. I do not use it much because I know that when I run out I am not going to pay 300 dollars on eBay to get another bottle.

I just blind bought few fragrances - Fragrance World Hard Wood - Noir D'Arabie - Fragrance World The Tux Scent wise I like the Hard wood the best. Amazing scent, Performance arent that great. I like beast mode fragrances. Unfortunately, this isn't the case.

BBW has a email option to bring back old fragrances. google BBW email contact. and its one of the options are which fragrance would you like to see come back. if enough people email them they will bring it back. i sent one!

I have been trying for YEARS to find a fragrance that replicates this. Ever since it was discontinued I have been devastated. I finally pulled the plug on a bottle for $120. Because it is that worth it to me to have it

Love this scent so much, I have the fragrance shower gel, the body lotion but they do not live up to the vibe, the scent is just too weak, all I want is the cologne. Why did they discontinue it!!!? 😢

I hate that this is discontinued. This is a scent that could be sold forever. Bath and Bodyworks out did themselves on this one. Thankfully I picked up 3 bottles of this during their clearance sale!

I had the original and it is super similar to the dupe that everyone recommends (Hard Wood). If you ever want to try the scent go for the dupe it's relatively cheap and smells great!

I have about 300 bottles of cologne and this one is in my top 5. It’s crazy bbw discontinued this gem. I luckily have 5 bottles and knew stocking up would be worth it some day.

This is such an amazing fragrance, the smoothness is really great. On me this is fairly long-lostaning, and it always get me good feedback. Buy it if you can find it!

I have 5 bottles of the old mahogany woods. I got 4 bottles of the new ones coming in. When it comes I’ll let you all know how it smells compared to the old one.

This one was amazing! Its discontinuation made me so sad, because I was already out and couldn’t buy a new bottle to savor.

This is easily the best men's scent that Bath and Body Works currently carries (or has carried in the last few years). It is warm, very rich, and sweet. To me, all of the listed notes are evident. I get something citrusy and vegetal (the bell pepper, although I don't think I would recognize it as that if I didn't see the notes listed) along with the mahogany. The sage note (that is heavily used by B&BW) comes in sweet and strong with the cognac, but quickly fades while the cognac remains very noticeable. The vanilla and amber come in front and center while the sandalwood and tonka add to a nice smoothness that has, at this point, begun to develop. Considering that this goes for less than $10 per ounce, it is an excellent value. Neither longevity nor silage are phenomenal, but are on-par or slightly better than many other fragrances that can be bought for the same price (including scents that can be bought for a similar price when discounted). This really shines during autumn and winter, I would be hesitant to wear it during warm weather, though. I have heard that this is more mature (as most boozy and woody scents are) but I think that it is safe enough for almost everyone. It can be worn day or night, although it may lean towards nights. It is one of the more formal scents from Bath & Body Works, although I think that it can still be worn very easily in a casual setting. A sweet, ambery crown pleaser (I get amber as much as wood), but worth a test or blind buy (they have a very good return policy) especially for those looking for something in this category. It isn't the best or is it top of the line, but it is very pleasant, very accessible, and very well priced. To add, I appreciate the new bottles. They are much more visually appealing compared to their former bottles, many of which were tacky. The glass is thick and heavy and the cap is solid and fits very well.

Wow ! What a pleasant scent this and I’m very surprised that this is discontinued as Mahogany Woods is a gem. Also this stuff smells niche quality and even though the price is elevated to $100-$150 id say that if you can get this at close $100 I’d say go for it because this is better than most niche, This opens up a very nice warm and smooth blend of vanilla,rum and Amber and also in there is blood orange giving this a nice touch of freshness to that warmth ! This stays pretty linear but once this dries down you mostly get that vanilla mixing with the mahogany and sandalwood making this more rich and smooth. Honestly,Bourbon would have been a better fit for this fragrance as it’s warm,rich and boozy and actually this reminds me of a more pleasant Pure Malt combined with elements of D & G The One. Performance- Another bonus for this scent is that only with 2-3 sprays this projected nicely for 2 hours( very noticeable but not beast mode) and lasted 8-12 hours on my skin.The sillage on this scent is amazing as well and probably the biggest selling point with this frag. Overall rating-8 out of 10 ! Very solid scent that’s niche quality and great all around.. This will be a perfect scent around the holidays.

Bath and Body Works Mahogany Woods is one of the better deals out there, especially for fans of boozy, sweet fragrances, at $29.50 for 100ml. It's very sweet, very much a candied sweetness with whiskey and woods, mich sweeter than, say, By Kilian Single Malt or Thierry Mugler Pure Malt, or even Pure Havane. So this would only appeal to those that can stomach the sweetness. I can't speak to the notes very specifically, but I imagine vanilla supplies some of the sweetness, given how sweet it is. I like the boozines to whiskey, and the woodiness to maple. Longevity and projection and both strong for an EDC, as it projects for a couple hours and then remains a skin scent for 6-8 hours; far closer to my expectation of a good EDT, not a EDC. While it's not specifically masculine, I imagine it would still work best for men, though I'm sure some women would enjoy it. It surely demands a try by men who enjoy sweet, boozy fragrances, though. 7 of out 10
