Merry Cookie

I do not feel good about loving Merry Cookie. I tend to dislike most gourmands; I tend to find them too artificial, and otherwise just not something I want to smell like. I hated Sol de Janeiro 62, 71, and even 59. Even if I did like the common gourmands of today, the reaction they elicit from my girlfriend is universally one of guttural disgust, and I wish not to inflict that upon on her. I smelled this in the store almost as a joke. I expected to put it back down and walk away. But I didn’t hate it. It was inoffensive, highly sweet... and then it was there. Butter. The most buttery fragrance I’ve ever smelled. Not even a Christmassy scent in my mind - there are no mulling spices, it is not gingerbread, contrary to the packaging. Just a simple, sweet, buttery fragrance. A shortbread cookie, perhaps with an icing glaze. I put it away in shame. In truth, I was afraid of my love for this scent, and that smug gingerbread man. I returned to the Semi-Annual Sale with a friend. I lost her in the fray. When we reconvened at home I got a look at her haul. There he was again. That smarmy frosting grin, taunting me. She let me spray it on my arms. We sat outside on the screened-in deck, shielded from the oppressive sun, baking comfortably in the unprecedented June heat. The buttery sweetness radiated off my arms. Perfectly Baked. The price dropped further this week and I knew what I had to do. It should arrive in a few days. My girlfriend will not be pleased but I don’t think I had another choice.

Scent notes: creamy cookie dough, almond biscotti and caramel woods. True to the notes mentioned above it's like an ultra creamy, super sweet freshly baked out of the oven cookie with yummy caramel drizzled on top. Surprisingly it isn't synthetic at all. It's very warm, toasty and mouth watering. A winter staple specially for gourmand lovers. Projection and longevity is top notch too. Fills out the entire room with the smell of freshly baked goods. Easily sticks onto my skin until i shower the next day. I must add it smells quite similar to coconut cream pie minus the burnt plastic/toasted coconut flakes note. The mouth watering caramel dry down of coconut cream pie and merry cookie are almost the same. In fact i think merry cookie is even better than CCP cause it has twice the amount of caramel than CCP and no burnt coconut flakes, synthetic note on the initial spray to put you off. A quick comparison with the 2021 version of merry cookie : 2021 version had the notes of lemon icing, warm sugar cookie, shredded coconut and vanilla bourbon. To my nose it is like a butter cookie with sprinkled sugar on top. It's light, sweet but not warm & delicious enough for me like how a cookie fragrance should be. Definitely not caramel heavy. Extremely light on the skin too.

I really love this. I will say, it's not too similar to 71 (my absolute favourite), but it is similar in the sweetness and a note or two. This one is more lactonic frosting on a sugar cookie like, while 71 is kinda coconuty to me and super chocolate chip cookie instead. Either way, smells absolutely amazing and perfect for those cozy days or for winter/fall.

I am obsessed with the body spray. It smells exactly like shortbread sugar cookies or danish biscuits with a tiny beautiful hint of salt. It sits nicely on the skin, not overwhelming at all. I got complimented on it but I wish it lasted longer. It feels like at first it's a burst of scent that very quickly fades away and simply sits tightly on your skin.

picked this up for the first time at the SAS sale! if you are a SDJ 71 lover, this is for you!! straight up delicious sugar cookies. it is so sweet, even as a gourmand queen myself I found it to be almost too sweet at times. I still absolutely love it and can't wait to really get use out of it at Christmas time!!
