Midnight Addiction

Okay so first things first—the opening is a bit alcoholy, but literally give it 5 seconds. It settles FAST. Then boom, this nutty almond note hits, and it blends with the plum in such a yummy way that it feels almost creamy. Like a dessert without being edible. There’s definitely a vanillic sweetness happening in the background, although it's not listed in the notes but it's soft and comforting, still very sexy. The coffee note? It’s not strong, but it’s there as a subtle anchor. You won’t smell it directly, but it grounds the whole vibe and keeps it from floating off into basic fruity floral land. What you get overall is something musky, fruity, sweet, but not sickening or plasticky. It’s smooth, seductive, addictive. Literally seduction in a bottle. If YSL Black Opium ever had a more balanced, well-behaved cousin who dressed better and didn’t try too hard—this is her. And no, it doesn’t feel cheap at all. BBW really did something here. This is the body mist you spray when you wanna smell like a cozy mystery with red lipstick on. Warm, sweet, slightly dark, and super addictive. Definitely a staple if you love that late-night vanilla fruity coffee energy. Rating: 4.5/5 — because for a body mist, this is elite.

I was expecting more or less a straight up dupe of Black Opium YSL, and many will be reminded of Black Opium, but this brings forward the almond note from the base of Black Opium in a really nice way. The almond here is a combination of the cherry-leaning facets of almond extract, with the nutty woodiness of candied almonds I also get a white floral mixture of sugar-sparkly orange-blossom & something close to jasmine. There's a fruitiness to the florals that could be plum, but more likely the cherry-leaning facets of almond extract. Those sensitive to patchouli might like this as I don't get a strong patchouli note here. The coffee note is very subdued, and I have to really look for it. Overall, I quite like it, as the almond note is my favourite part of Black Opium YSL. This would layer well with a lot of things including other almond scents, gourmands and Black Opium YSL/dupes to improve performance, but I would likely layer it with almond-gourmands. Love it. Another Everyday Luxuries dupe I LOVE for a designer fragrance I HATE. Black opium smells so sickly to me, not blended well and just straight up unpleasant/cheap but this is so much more refined and blended somehow. Makes absolutely no sense since I got it for $5. It smells like a deep and rich fruity floral, I do not get any coffee or cacao, though my mother says she can detect a little bit of coffee when she’s concentrating on it. Its sillage is also very weak, which is fine by me, but I do also quickly go nose blind to it. I also loooove the Fine’ry dupe (Midnight Cafe) but neither of them smell like the original AT ALL. Really impressed with this!!! EDIT: I like it much more with time, but the longevity is absolutely atrocious. ive never owned a fragrance that disappears so quickly, especially from this line, which sucks but I still wear it and layer it with just about anything and its lovely !!

One of my favorites from BBW! Black Opium Le Parfum has been my favorite scent for quite some time, and Midnight Addiction is a solid, more affordable attempt at that fragrance profile. It smells surprisingly rich and complex for a BBW scent. TBH, I like it far better than the dupes offered by Fine'ry, Dossier and Oakcha. I look forward to picking up the matching body cream when it's on sale. Edit: I'm wearing this today, and I keep getting little whiffs of something that smells great... and then I remember it's this. Haha! I think those who dislike the original Black Opium will still enjoy Midnight Addiction as it's sweeter and not nearly as intense. Likewise, if you like Black Opium Le Parfum, you'll definitely love this too! **Update 8/18/25 - I love @midnight dot's description! If M83's Midnight City had a smell, this would certainly be it. ;)

Honestly very unisex, but in a good way. Its dark, sexy, strong, and seductive. Definitely a going out scent, or at least for night! I'd say it's a little less sweet than YSLs Black Opium, but it doesn't bother me. It's a great scent for layering, I usually layer it with OGX coconut coffee lotion, and a range of different perfumes such as: Kayali vanilla 28, Valentino DBIR Intense, or even milk orchid from commodityxperfumerism. It's a very long-lasting scent as well I always get compliments, as the projection I get from this is insane. I could see why some don't like it, but it's definitely made for my nose!!

I also dislike Black Opium but love this! I usually am not into coffee or almond notes but I loveeee plum. And I guess somehow the plum is really pulling the coffee and almond together and blending beautifully with them. This smells so intoxicating and seductive. Fruity, but deep and rich. Obsessed. However, I'm realizing that I will have to be careful with it because I can tell it could be headache inducing. Once a scent does that to me I have found that I usually stop being able to enjoy it, and I definitely don't want that to happen with this one because I really love it.

I'm SOOO mad they discontinued this! This was actually my first ever mist from b&bw, so I'm a little biased... I LOVE this fragrance. It's sweet but has depth from the coffee and is all around so delicious. I love all these notes individually, so the fact that they're in one fragrance together is like heaven for me. It literally lasts forever too! Someone once told me it smelled like "cotton candy tobacco", and I kinda see the vision... but respectfully disagree! PLEASE BRING THIS BACK!! I NEED A THOUSAND BOTTLES!!

i'm getting such a delicious marshmallow note in this and i have no idea where it's coming from but i am loving it. i layered it with love don't be shy and i'm smelling like a sweet, sticky cotton candy and marshmallow fair dessert. (i do not get black opium from this, ngl. i might need to smell black opium again as it's been a while but i remember it being way more darker and heavier) 5/5

This is literally my favourite perfume ever. It’s beautiful in fall and winter, but I’ll definitely be wearing it in the summer at night, out to dinner, etc. To my nose, it almost has slightlyyy more of a sweetness that YSL Black Opium lacks, and makes it that much more beautiful. It sits so nicely on the skin and lasts foreverrrr

I don’t get Black Opium like many of the comments, but it does remind me of the 90’s Lolita Lempicka. I’m picking up a little bit of anise so that’s probably why. This doesn’t smell like a typical BBW scent to me and I absolutely love it so far. Perfect for date night!

It smells very classy and high-end for a body mist. The description states it is a Floral Fruity Gourmand fragrance, but it is neither fruity nor gourmand. It is a floral scent, featuring vanilla flower—not vanilla—along with hints of coffee and a touch of patchouli.

I only have the body lotion but I'll probably go back to get the body spray as soon as it's on sale. Don't know about the body spray but if I could eat the lotion I 100% would like the plum just smells so delicious

I really like it. To me the plum notes stick out most, along with what almost borders on a sort of black cherry scent. Definitely fruity most of all, but a classy fruity rather than a playful fruity

So such a sexy and delicious scent. Very musky but divinely feminine at the same time. Makes my eyes roll back. Unfortunately with a lot of Bath and Body Works mists, it doesn't last that long.

I LOVE this scent, i was expecting something more musky, but when i tried it I was pleasantly surprised. It smells like a really good plum and like seductive-esque scent. I reccommend!

i swear to god it smells exactly like YSL black opium

just got this fragrance a few days ago and it's what's motivated me to make my account/start a collection! i'd only owned sweet fragrances before this, so my relatives were surprised i picked out such a spicy/deep scent lol. it does venture a little into "my grandma would wear this" territory, but it isn't overbearing. the plum really blends into the coffee to make an almost vanilla scent. the almond flower adds a slightly powdery note to me. i would describe it overall as deeply sweet and roasty. i picked it because i like plum and i was looking for a unisex scent, though this does veer into more feminine territory. while i do like it and it's currently my main fragrance, i have to use it sparingly because the top notes (which mostly starts with coffee) are so strong. the sillage is pretty weak as well; it stays close to my skin, which has proven to give me a bit of a headache if i spray too much. it lasts almost exactly 6 hours with a spray on each wrist and on my collarbone. it doesn't seem to layer very well (with lotion, at least). i layered it with be enchanted lotion (which has less obtrusive notes than this fragrance) and i can't even smell midnight addiction... the dry down is far more pleasant than the initial 10 minutes. smells better when in the heat + on skin than in room temperature + on clothes (the notes develop more nicely with heat). 7/10 overall!

This is absolutely a valid dupe of Black Opium. And actually, I really love the lactonic element in this one a little more if I can be so frank about it. It's less dense and cloying IMHO, and it's a rare occurrence where I truly prefer the dupe over the original. I still like B.O and feel that it gets an unwarranted bad rap, but Midnight Addiction is airier and smoother. It's certainly thinner overall, but it's a body mist, so that's to be expected. The coffee isn't at all a heavy coffee note...and to my coffee addicted nose (I'm a heavy coffee drinker who hails from Washington State), I truly can only notice it if I *try* to find it. This is a simple, pretty, slightly fruity warm vanilla. It's girly, but it smells decidedly autumnal. It's not heavy, and it's the kind of fragrance that you'd want to wear during the long-awaited return of fall (late September-early October). It's too delicate (in body spray form, maybe not as a perfume) to withstand cold fall.

First whiff of this and instantly came up images of tall skyscrapers hovering the dark sky, friends you hang out in the car with hair in the wind, driving in the vast roads through streetlights and colorful neon signs....Anyway, I think my mind automatically connect with the Black opium concept since their advertisements match the descriptions when I initially smelled it.

Yummy plummy vanilla. I literally didn't detect any coffee for months but I just smelled it again and miraculously it has appeared. The coffee note is pretty faint though, which is a little disappointing for me. But it's still a pleasant nighttime vanilla scent, nothing too mind-blowing.

It's so sweet like berries. This is one of my night time scents for January and I love it!

I really liked it at first, but there's this cloying smell it has that gives me migraines. I'm not even scent sensitive. This could be a result of me leaving it in my car during the late summer months, it could have gone rancid. I had to throw it out it was so bad.

heavy on the plum and incredibly overwhelming if you spray more than once. i liked it on my first wear, since then it’s given me a headache every time i spray it anywhere in my vicinity.

Very good dupe for Black Opium. It isn't too strong and it lasts a while. I wore it for about 3h while sweating heavily and I could still smell it. Huge sillage.

A bit strong alcoholic opening but the drydown is nice.

This is a direct dupe of YSLs Black Opium. Pretty much identical. If you like that, you'll like this. I'm not a fan because it has that same minty, almost menthol smell to it that black opium does. It's not as pungent, but still definitely there. The dry down is more fruity and pleasent. Still not a fan, but there's a lot of people out there that would love this.

Oh wow. I HATED this one. I THOUGHT I liked it, but as the day went on, the smell became overpowering and made me feel sick. I sprayed it on my shirt and it transferred so strongly to my coat that I had to wash the coat, as well. I had to return it. I could see it being enjoyed, and I definitely see how it is a dupe for Black Opium. Not for me. no thank you.

cloying and headache-inducing. smells like cherry cough syrup. this is much more floral than the edp, but both make me sick. overly synthetic.

There is something in this, especially in the opening, that smells camphoric, like Carmex lip balm. Even still, I don't hate it; it's actually kind of weirdly nostalgic. That note does become more mellowed out as it dries down & the overall fragrance becomes a bit softer & smoother. I do see how it is very similar to Black Opium. It's an okay fragrance. I don't crave this scent profile enough to justify getting a full bottle of Black Opium, so having this on hand will satisfy that infrequent urge when it does arise.

I just bought it blindly in the brands store and opened it in the train, tried it and felt this eucalyptus or camphoric note, so I run immediately on fragra and check the notes. No notes like this on the list, but the review below (thanks Novabint) makes me believe that it's not only my imagination or broken smelling capabilities... definitely it's not as simple as the given notes suggest, it's sweet and it reminds me the Black Opium.

This one to me smells like Elizabeth Taylor Passion, which I had many many many years ago. It's what reminds me when I first wear this since I haven't smelled B.O ever. Sugary, spicy and fruity and somehow it has a root beer smell. The almond and the coffee notes is not existing though. It's good but not my preferred type of scent.

If you remember something from Oriflame called On the Edge and Love Potion So Tempting. This one is similar. Yes it gets like coffee-licorice vibe like Black Opium but also something dark and deep like Passion and Poison but not as tuberosey or Ylangy like them For those who love purple and black hues, this will be their fave too

How are you people comparing this to black opium?! They are NOTHING alike. Midnight addiction is sweet and flirty with a little bad girl edge and black opium is DARK and mysterious heavy on the coffee and speakeasy vibes. I'm starting to not trust this website at all.

Recently bought black opium le parfum and black opium glitter. This smells like a hybrid of those. Its sweeter than the original but it smells good and lasts awhile. I bought backups. I will wear it with my black opiums.

Am I really the only one getting Teriaq Intense? I absolutely do not smell Black Opium, but this is Teriaq Intense all day long. Obviously not as strong, it's a more demure TI.

I never would have guessed fruity or floral. I get the warm spice with an undertone of creamy vanilla. It’s a perfect transition fragrance going from summer into fall.
