Off the Vine

This doesn't smell like tomato? I've grown tomatoes for YEARS, even having a little tomato-growing business. This DOES, however, have a good strong tomato vine smell. Very green, has that sharp leafiness you get when you brush the plant. It's not completely a 1:1 smell but if you're familiar with it, you're gonna know it in this smell. It's got a nice gardeny scent and I want to layer it with something but I'm not sure what. But it's nice on its own. It's not playful, a bit serious, a bit nostalgic, and very unisex imo. I think some other garden-y, or aquatic or solar, note would do it good (layered) but by itself I wouldn't change a thing. It lasts better than most Bath & Body Works stuff, as I can smell it for hours (maybe 4-5, Maybe longer, I need to test) and still smell it (but close up) after.

Does not deserve the immense amount of hate it received online. It’s a great unisex green scent that’s simple yet creative. The moss is by far my favorite part of this scent, it comes through very strong in the dry down (at least on me). This note reads as slightly aquatic as opposed to earthy and that’s why I absolutely love it. Together the notes transpire as a dewy organic tomato garden. If you’re looking for a euro summer scent this is the one! Bath and Body Works really elevated the brand with this one!

this wasn’t in stock in the full size mist at my local store, or i would have definitely grabbed one. it’s a clean scent, but not in a laundry, aquatic, or floral sense—it smells like green vines and dewy moss, and has a touch of sweetness (but in the way that a carrot or red bell pepper is sweet). it doesn’t smell like a tomato per se, but if you love the smell green, earthy (but not dirty) smell of gardens, this is wonderful.

Had to pick this up because I love tomato leaf scents! Very bright and green; doesn't last for longer than 2-3 hours. I like to layer it over my From the Garden to really make that opening tomato POP! Overall, if you like tomato leaf you'll like this. Only downfall is how fleeting it is (it is a body mist) but it's still worth it in my book. Glad to see some non-gourmand/sugary options at B&BW.

bought this for my partner kind of on a whim and oh my GODDD this is sooo delicious! it’s such a unique scent for bath and body works i’m like devastated but not surprised it’s being discontinued. it is so aromatic and green and fresh and almost spicy — it has such a beautiful herb like note to it. we have been fighting to find anything else affordable like it bc this is just soo stunning

this is overhated because of the concept (and possibly the brand too), but to me this is one of the best fragrances of the year. it *is* photorealistic tomato, yes, but it doesn’t smell like ketchup. it smells like a vegetable garden after rain, like mud and earth and flowers. this is so amazing i can’t believe the negative view it’s gotten

The body lotion is superior to the mist. It smells like... Vent Vert to me!! The mist dries down to something similar to Cloud. The lotion is 😘🤌 I just read the review below mine, and holy moly, I totally thought "cloud + sunflowers" the first time I sprayed the mist, too. I want more tomato but I love how green it is. Galbanum-esque

i looove this scent 🍅 it's so earthy with a sweet finish that is so nice. the very beginning is a little off putting? only bc its so different than everything else bbw does. the girl who wears this wears earthy colors, has a beautiful herb garden, wears a lot of bandanas, has a big fluffy rescue dog, wears overalls.

honestly i am really enamored with this scent. to me it smells like the vines and leaves of a tomato plant, which i'm fond of. i only have the body wash but i plan on going back for the spray and lotion as well. it's definitely not a scent for everyone, but i enjoy it thoroughly

I have this in the soap, lotion, and spray. Excellent, def gonna be a hit for me come spring. Rly hope they bring this back in the future because I dunno what I’ll do when I finally use up my stash

For those that love the smell of vegetable gardens and fresh green plants, this is a gorgeous scent. One of the few body mists that is not overly sweet like many of this brands other offerings.

This smells so good on a wintry day. I've been craving warmth, humidity, and vitamin-c infused fragrances. This has a beautiful green floral quality. Powdery, sour, mossy, fruity.

I love smelling like the stem of a tomato plant and wearing red to match the scent 🍅 This was such a nice surprise and change from the usual sweet smells found at b&bw.

spritzing this all damn summer!!!!

I spent my summer working in a tomato garden, and absolutely needed a tomato leaf fragrance after that because it's the most nostalgic smell on earth to me. It's not quite as photorealistic as From The Garden, but for its price point, it's close enough to be worth it. I love the slight dustiness combined with the vegetal scent -- it really does have the vibe of biting right into a tomato straight off the vine, still warm from the sun. I wasn't a huge fan of how it smelled on the test strip but on skin it works wonderfully.

No matter how cliché it sounds, Off the Vine is the perfect example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Bath and Body Works really messed up on the packaging and marketing for this one It is NOT tomato-based, but rather a geranium, green naturey scent. Smells like basil on initial spray, but on the dry-down it leans clean, fresh rain-kissed herbs. An addicting, fresh, clean green! Lasts on my skin for hours, which is impressive for a body mist. Just wished it projected farther

Okay so I don’t own and haven’t owned this perfume. Just tried a sample of it. Smells just like a tomato plant in the garden. Specifically after touching a tomato plant and the smell that is left on your hands. Reminds me of gardening on a summer day or eating a tomato in the sun. I wouldn’t wear this personally as it’s just not a wearable scent to me, it’s not offensive and it doesnt smell bad, just a very particular scent that I personally wouldn’t wear.

Smells fresh, I’m getting tomato vines and just leafy smell. I’m not actually getting tomato or like pizza or anything like that! It’s not a bad smell, it would be great for spring if you like that scent profile! Fresh vegetable garden after rain is the vibe 🪴 🌧️

Tried this after hearing all the discourse about it, and it's not...bad? I actually like this fragrance. It's androgynous and definitely has an earthy undertone that smells almost exactly like wet garden soil. I'm also a fan of the floral notes. Simple and green.

Controversial opinion I want it to be MORE tomato-y. I love tomato leaf, I love the smell of tomatoes. It feels more mossy to me, but still good and very enjoyable! Similar to From The Garden, but overall I wish it was more soil-y. I need more tomato.

slightly less intense version of from the garden. smells like tomato leaves and vines. sooo vegetal and green. i could do without the floral notes but for a b&bw it surprised me! i need them to make more weird shit like this.

LavenderCat7 describes this scent perfectly. initial spray is just mossy, fresh herbs. i also get notes of a slightly-sweet rose. the drydown is a very green floral. it's alright, just not for me; the top notes kinda turn me off. edit: this is just a slightly sweeter version of margiela's from the garden.

You know the summery smell you get when you pluck a tomato fresh from the vine? Right from the stem? That green odor right after it has been broken off? Well look no further. If you want to smell like that then lo and behold this is for you. Earthy. Not the tomato itself, but a green smell. A hint of floral like from the leaf.

Smelled this in the store with my sister and was baffled by it. To each their own and all, but I personally can't imagine wanting to smell like spaghetti sauce casually. Not at all my thing. The big tin can packaging you can get this scent in is pretty fun, though.

She’s green, light, oakmoss-forward and (mostly) unisex. My favorite kinda hot weather scent 🌿 I don’t own the perfume version of this, but I do own the body spray, candle, body wash & body cream from this line. When OtV dropped, I immediately went to Bath & Body Works because I was excited about the note breakdown and the fact that B&BW had a scent with such an unexpected olfactory experience. I knew I’d probably enjoy it. I didn’t expect to fall in love with it! As noted here, and in other reviews, “Off the Vine” veers away from their typical scent profiles. While not every customer is thrilled to see a green scent, I sure am! I hope this remains a fixture in their summer lineup. This isn’t a carbon copy approximation of a true tomato growing in the garden, leaves or fruit, but it is definitively green without being vegetal. I think the most pronounced notes here are oakmoss, green leaves & geraniums. Love to spray this on my bedding too! It’s so fresh and summery! On skin there’s a surprising potency for a body spray but it won’t function like a perfume or oil concentration potency. I love layering this with Lataffa’s “Badee Al Oud Sublime” because both moss notes at the base pair wonderfully and, when both scents are combined, they deliver an awesome fresh-outta-the-shower summery scent! I really like the body spray but truly the body wash and body cream are the real stunners from the “Off the Vine” line.

I feel like this is their attempt at Diptyque Baies (the candle). Which is very close to L'ombre Dans L'eau. There really isn't any rose here, but the grassy, realistic garden smell that Diptyque does so well is here. Diptyque also has a Geranium scent that might have hints in this too. I really like this one! I'd advise anyone to try it. Don't be turned off thinking you're going to smell like Marinara sauce, I promise you won't lol. If I smelled this blind I would struggle to clock any real tomato at all. Perhaps just the green smell of the plant and the stems, which is great for summer. For the BBW shoppers that want something other than dessert (which they do well!)

This scent is so unlike the typical BBW sweet fruit bombs. I’ve learned anything described as “green” means that, on me, it smells, and makes me smell, like vegetables. This scent isn’t that. Its woodiness predominates but there’s a slight floral powderiness that balances the wood. If you enjoy smelling like a cupcake, this probably isn’t something you’d like. If you’re a fan of 80s moss-bombs, this is probably up your alley (though it demands nowhere near the commitment those scents did of those who wore them).

Why does this smell like Elizabeth Arden sunflowers from 1992 to me??!! I walked in the bath & body works to get two free samples and I smelled all the seasonal stuff... I picked this up and there was only one tiny sample of this in the whole store. I tested it three different times as I walked around and smelled 100's of scents and this totally made me think of sunflowers.

This reminds me of greenify from Mac cosmetics. I loved it and it was discontinued forever ago. I was so happy when I tried this. It’s so bright and green.

It has the same grassy notes as Pure White Linen. Just because the notes show “tomato leaf” does not mean it smells like tomatoes or every tomato perfume.

I did not personally pick this up, but how fun to see Bath & Body Works branch out and do something very different.

Tested on my arm in store, it smells like Shuhrah Pour Homme by Rasasi on the dry down.
