Riceflower & Shea

I joined this site specifically so I could discuss this scent. I miss it SO MUCH! I used to stalk the semi annual sale for this until it stopped showing up; aka ran out of supply. In the shower this is heavenly! You have to start with the body wash with this scent to really appreciate it. As far as dupes are concerned, the closest I have found is definitely Snowflakes & Cashmere. The first time I sniffed it, I was immediately transported back to this fragrance, especially just from memory. Smelling them side by side you can definitely pick out the differences but the vibe is ver much the same. Soft, cozy, comforting, quiet. Coconut cove is a nice perfume but no way a dupe. Different vibe completely. Which brings me to my next point. Before I looked up the accords/notes on this website I had no actual idea there was coconut in this. No wonder I love it so much! Im obsessed with anything Coconut so that was an interesting ah hah moment for me. I hope someone out there someday helps me find the perfect replica of this! I don't realllllyyyyyyyyy want to spends hundreds of dollars buying secondhand backups but I'm getting close to desperate enough for that. haha!

You guys!!! For all of you out there looking for a dope of this like me I think I just found one that I love!!!! Bath and body Works just came out with a line of 3 scents with pretty plain packaging. Musk, Apple, and lavender. While I absolutely am in love with the lavender scent, I smelled the musk with high hopes ... but it wasn’t until I sprayed the body spray and noticed that there’s a note of rice milk on the back that I realized it gives serious rice flour and Shea vibes- not the lotion- not the shower gel - but the SPRAY! very very similar! I am picking up that rice note big time that reminds me of rice flour and Shea. I am such a happy girl right now!!!!

Bath & Body Works has a plain vanilla bean scent that I really liked in the 90s, just plain vanilla bean with no other notes. This scent is as if you took that, and added a little bit of rice flower. Perhaps a tiny hint of coconut milk & sandalwood, but very subtle. I The scent is light an unobtrusive, sweet without being cloying. I don’t smell the ginger or anise. Also no floral notes, thankfully. Unfortunately Bath & Body works adds florals to most of their scents now, and they go all air freshener on me, but some of the older ones like this one weren’t like that, and were still good. Lovely rice flour and vanilla bean scent.

Too bad B&BW stopped making this creamy, beautiful scent. I'm not one for smelling like food, especially Vanilla, but this scent was absolutely perfect. It was one of those rare scents that smelled delicious on pretty much everyone...not sure about guys though, unless they damped it down with a bit of China musk. Anyway, I love it so much that I'm going to start making my own Rice Flower and Shea products with goat milk as an main added ingredient - Yum! I will definitely be luscious enough to eat...lol!

oh, man, i'm so sad that this was discontinued. this was, by far, the most cozy, soft, creamy scent that i have ever smelled. it was absolutely perfect. it smelled like soft, sweet rice mixed with creamy vanilla and something else that i can't put my finger on. just so comforting. i'm genuinely devastated that this was taken away. it performed way above its price point and i'll miss it forever. nothing else that b&bw has carried since has come close to this.

I sprayed this on last week and was shocked at how long it lasted! The scent is very soft and creamy. Such a clean but also seductive scent. This is very warm and cosy, better if you have someone there to cuddle with. This is a scent you can wear every day as it is light enough, and a scent someone else would like to find on you in a close encounter!

I went to the B&BW website and I couldn't find this anymore. I am really upset because it went well with my chemistry and I ALWAYS got complimented on it. If Aveeno lotion and Heliotrope Blanc smell similar, then I guess I will start wearing that. Thank you, Pari88 and Fruitypurr for the suggestions. :)

I woke up this morning thinking of this scent, I miss it so much. It's yummy and gourmand but not too sweet and it was just absolutely perfect. It smelled clean, coconutty, and creamy. I wish bath and body works would bring this back like they have with some of their other classic scents.

This is my all time favorite Bath and Body Works fragrance. I honestly think it smells like Play-Doh, but it just works!I am so disappointed that this scent was discontinued. I have bought several lotions on Ebay for quite a hefty price. I would love for it to be brought back.

One of my absolute favorite scents!! Thankfully I was stocked up before I realized this was already discontinued, but can't bring myself to use my reserves. I love this scent as it's not too heavy or strong, and just smells natural.

Oh this scent is seriously to die for! It's so soft and sweet and just yummy. I've never smelled anything like it in my life, it's just so unique and mysterious. If you like sweet and soft scents, this is for you

After all these years I am finally smelling the "playdough" but I don't care because I still love it and get compliments on it. I am so glad Bath and Body Works sells this on their website. My favorite.

This one is a FAV...hard to find all the time. Seems BBW and I have different taste, if I like it they get rid of it...and keep everything that makes my head scream.

I was wearing this one day at the mall and a guy stopped me and asked what I was wearing...he said I smelled like fresh baked cookies. I think thats a good thing. :)

I smell Vanilla, but there isn't a fragrant note for that above.... odd. I love the sandalwood and rice scent of this body spray, I also have the shower gel.

St. Ives makes a lotion with Oatmeal and Shea that smells similar to this. I am still bummed out about B&BW taking away my scent. :(

I have never really considered BBW RICE FLOWER & SHEA to be a perfume, but I saw that someone reviewed it recently, and since I'm wearing it today, I may as well chime in to say: This is a great body spray! This is a very pleasant scent: both clean and sensual, not too flowery or sweet, yet scrumptious all the same and perfect for days like today when it's so humid that you may as well be walking in the rain. For some reason this formula seems to contain less alcohol than some of the BBW body sprays, so there is no need to hold one's breath upon application. I would describe this as close to a skin scent, and note that it does not build up with reapplication, so it's perfect for cooling effect under a ceiling fan! I really love this scent and would welcome the launch of an edt. But it's a very good product, for what it is. Highly recommended for summertime or as a light post-shower scent!

Love this . Very creamy scent. Cozy up and read a book scent. I get a lot of milky, creamy tones. warm rice and hint of coconut ( not the overwhelming suntan lotion type) . Kind of smells sweet like warm rice pudding. It does have a slight play do note, which weirdly i like. Because its grounds the perfume so its not sickening sweet. Yum. too bad the discontinued .

Very soft, subtle and surprisingly complex. Doesn't last long as it's a spray, but nice for casual days! Warm and cozy without overpowering.

Open with Alcohol, Alcohol and a bit of coconut rice. After 15 min is close to the skin and smells very nice (sweet rice)

I like the reviews I see. Im gonna have to try this on at the BBW yellow sale, perhaps pick up an xtra bottle.

If you are looking for a dupe (or at least something similar), try Old Navy Cottonflower & Shea!!

Bath & Body Works Riceflower & Shea review- I'm only doing this 4 those that miss this scent since I found accidentally a dupe. The scent is--2 my nose--at first pleasing, light clean and comforting with the smell of basmati rice, which I love very much in their Warm Vanilla Sugar. However... in this formulation is goes weird. I can say it smells like a subdued odd floral with a weird plasticy playdoh base note that lingers and offends me greatly after the initial clean light smell moves on. It's a real scrubber once it moves off the top notes phase 4 me and drives me crazy in the worst way. Dupe found as of NOV 2023- I recently ordered Egyptian Musk Oil, by WagsMarket - The Egyptian Musk FactoryTM and the only upside is I ordered the smallest roll-on... while it smells NOTHING like Egyptian Musk (which is NOT floral nor basmati like and should b exotic, strong musky, ambery etc) but it **IS** 2 my nose's dismay EvErYtHiNg like BBW Riceflower Shea. I contacted the company 2 see if this was what it was supposed 2 smell like (thinking it was a wrong or bad batch) but they only said scent was subjective. Sooo...I hope that it fits your need if u're looking 4 BBW's Riceflower Shea. I wish I could give this oil 2 one of u that miss it!!!!!!!!! I hope this review helps someone

I remember being really excited when I first saw this as a teenager. I love the scent of jasmine rice, and coconut, and sandalwood, musk etc. But no.. just no. Although I'm one of those people that love the "play doh" note this smells like play doh in a completely awful way. Chemical and strange and crusty and just gross.

Riceflower and Shea This scent is like a thin soft silky blanket. It provides comfort, coziness, and warmth. Gentle, milky, lightly sweet, and unconsciously sensual--Riceflower and Shea is one perfect ageless transparent skin scent. I get a lot of sweet coconut milk, rice powder, mild amber and clean musk. If an angel should have a smell .. This scent must be it. Riceflower and Shea is not well noticed. One of BBW's underrated and therefore discontinued scents. Unfortunately, it was only made to be a body mist and nothing stronger. Mark Sophistique is similar but not as cuddly and gentle. I would say Sophistique is the intense EDP version of Riceflower and Shea. Sophistique has more amber. It's darker, sweeter, muskier, and spicier. I prefer Riceflower and Shea.

I like this, although it is a magic show perfume: it appears and disappears at will. Sometimes I'll think it's gone, and then I'll smell something really pretty that doesn't smell like a perfume, and I realize that, oh, it came back for a split second. The lotion smells just like...a lotion, any kind of lotion really. And the body spray smells like a watery lotion spray. Somehow it is very pleasant though. I like the rice flower in it (when I can smell it). It's comforting and I don't smell rice flower anywhere else often. This would be a good fragrance for someone who is sick or allergic to perfume.

I wish BBW would bring this back. Probably wouldn't be the same if they did, though. :( It smells like a nice slightly nutty, slightly coconut lotion in spray form. SO nice and comforting. Was my absolute favorite growing up. I still have half of a body spray that still smells amazing, but barely use it because it is so nice. I should get over it and just use it before it eventually goes bad since I have had it so long. Soft rice and coconut pudding minus the super sweet notes and add a musky, sandalwood lotion-like smell. I think I'm going to use this after my shower today.

Thanks for adding! I have had this scent for so long, and though BBW never released it as EdT the body spray makes no need for it. It lasts quite long, to 4 hrs, so nearly as long as some EdTs. It is a stunning concoction of powdery, amber with one of the best opening notes in the beginnings: it is fresh, zesty without letting the middle fight or itself: the topnotes mingle perfectly with the coconut. A coconut like the real thing - not this syrup. It's a wet, aromatic coco ith the ricenotes you seem to have coco-rice, together with powdery amber, and still lingering top.

For a perfume version of this I suggest heliotrope blanc by l.t piver edt not the lotion or body splash. I love rice flower, it is a body spray so it's dominated by alcohol and I can't really wear it on skin unless I have a ton of body cream on, but it is absolutely soft and beautiful, evocative of the name. I hope bath and body stops making the uber sweet fruity stuff and brings back the classics in edp versions. Night blooming jasmine and rice flower Shea share that almond heliotrope quality, a soft skin scent for day to day use. A "white" type of fragrance. Very nice.

this scent really is my white whale. i won’t idealize too much because i do remember preferring the body lotion scent leaps and bounds over the body spray, but to this day i have never smelled anything more comforting. i’ve been seeking out the vintage products as well as dupes and i’ve been coming up blank until i tried coconut cove by skylar, which is the closest dupe i’ve smelled so far (a bit more coconut-y and a little less rice-y but almost identical otherwise). bath and body PLEASEEEEE bring this one back :(

This is a lovely mixture that I wish they had expanded into their edp but...no, it remains a weak body spray that disappears 30 seconds after I spray it on. I tried using it on my sheets and pillows. Wonderfully soothing and relaxing, but again...30 seconds and gone. My husband even remarked on how nice it was and wondered why the scent wouldn't linger. Oh well. I think I'll give Avon's Sophistique a go if THAT hasn't been discontinued. God, I'm grumpy this morning. Where's my coffee?

I joined this page just to let you all know that itsaharddaysnight is RIGHT! I bought a Coconut Cove by Skylar from Sephora based on her recommendation and I am in love all over again. I wore Rice Flower and Shea for most of my 20s and never tired of the smell. I was so disappointed it was discontinued and never stopped trying to find something close to it. Coconut Cove has given me life again. :) Try it out if you miss the BBW scent! Pricey ($85) but totally worth it to me.

Im so glad they added this one. Bbw rice flower and shae is such a sensual scent. It smells to me like a "fresh piece of paper" scent dipped in very soft vanilla musk. Ive always had this thought come to my mind when smelling it. It has quite a bit of delicious musk; not the baby wipe type musk that is almost powdery. I wish the would actually make a edt of this because I believe it is one of their better scents.

I really like this and have to chuckle at the high prices on auction sites for half a bottle of weak splash. I have found decent dupes out there in both oil and body sprays. It's a comforting doughy vanilla-coconut that reminds me a little of rice pudding. Maybe I will bid on one of these eventually... Lindsayejoy, I think that note you can't place is PlayDoh!

I became a member of fragrantica just to let fans of BBW Rice Flower and Shea know that I have found a fragrance very similar to this scent. This is a favorite scent of mine too and I especially miss it when summer rolls around. The fragrance is Coconut Cove by Skylar. You won't be disappointed. I'm very happy I discovered it.

Mmmmm, I really like this. It reminds me of Kenzo Amour to be honest with you, and also a tokyo milk scent I have called french kiss. Ofcourse this b and b scent is a little more like a skin scent but I think I've found what to use as my base under Kenzo to keep the scent on longer. What a beautiful soft scent. Delicious.

I have the lotion of this. I like it a lot! I must agree though, as too many have said, it does have that playdough scent. I don't wear it out as it certainly doesn't impress anyone, but I enjoy it for me, alone, snuggled up with a blanky and watching a good movie!

i use this body spray when i go to bed, it helps me to relax and get my sleep. i really like it, it's so soft and creamy.. the only thig is it does not last on my skin(1hr max), that's why i only wear it at night

Just letting you know that Perfume Parlour, which ships worldwide, has a dupe of this in Eau de Parfum and Extrait versions. They are spot on and the Extrait lasts 6 hours+.

This just unlocked a memory. I had this! It was amazing. So frustrating that they don’t bring back so many of these really special scents as limited editions on occasion.

If you are missing this scent, try the Christmas BBW, Snowflakes and Cashmere...Very similar..!
