Velvet Sugar

It has the notes of red velvet crème, golden plum, sugared musk, pink jasmine and wild strawberries. To my nose if i have to describe it in one word i would say "jujubes candy". So its basically a candy/custard sweet kind of fragrance. I can't differentiate all those fragrance in particular order at all. From the first blast to the dry down it just smells like jujubes candies that's made with strawberry jam, the jam is soft & chewy with lots of dusting sugar on top. I get no florals, no plum, no cakey elements. It's just pure jammy syrupy sweet fragrance. It's a very sugary, delicious, comforting scent. I don't like strawberry in my fragrances but this one fortunately doesn't smell too artificial. The sweetness from the strawberry seems to be more nectar like. I was also afraid that sugared musk would make it smell too musky or powdered sugar like which will later on smell like cologne but i am happy to report it's the most amazingly delectable sugary smell, not too musky at all. It's a simple sweet scent so some people might find it boring or juvenile but I personally love it. The smell is simple, feminine, huggable. Extremely girly & pleasant on the nose to smell. This fragrance should be an instant hit with men because they tend to like scents that smell sweet & girly. Unless you are too fussy with your fragrance, you are bound to like this no matter at what age you are. It's playful, cute, flirty & the easiest scent to grab onto. I am totally in love. The projection is moderate, creates a beautiful scent bubble without being too loud. The longevity is decent. it turns into a soft musky skin skin that lingers on for 5 hours. It smells much better on clothes & lasts for a long time too.

I'll preface by saying that I have a preference for gourmands, candy-like scents and fruity florals. I haven't been able to put this down the last few days. I still have the original mist, and went through the lotion and shower gel ages ago. So for SAS I picked up a few more mists and the rest of the body care. I can't speak for the newer mist yet because I'm still using my old one, but the shower gel and body cream smell even BETTER, albeit a bit lighter than before. I find them to be a bit sweeter, like I can actually smell a bit "red velvet" this time. There's a sort of creaminess I didn't get before. It's less shampoo-y I guess I'm trying to say. I've recently layered this with Lush's Snow Fairy and omg... delicious combo! I think that if you like scents like Pink Sugar, Britney's Fantasy, BBW Among The Clouds, VS Pink Warm and Cozy, you would probably enjoy this one.

Very pretty, sugary sweet, and creamy with a touch of fruit and florals on a soft musky base! Kind of like a slightly fruity spun sugar! It’s delicious and delightful, but also almost delicate in a way too. I don’t find it overly strawberry or plum smelling, they seem to just add a nice fruity scent. I don’t pick up any rose at all, and just a soft touch of jasmine. Overall, I think Velvet Sugar is just such a pretty sweet fragrance! I have the lotion as well as the fragrance and I love to pair the lotion with other sweet fragrances like Pink Sugar, Ralph Lauren Beyond Romance, Marc Jacobs Daisy Love Eau So Sweet, and VS Heavenly Dream Angel. I find it to be really wearable... it’s not too rich or heavy. I get good performance with Velvet Sugar, especially if I’m wearing the lotion too. It lasts throughout most of the day on me and projects about an arm’s length.

Another classic I had never tried until the retired fragrances returned online! I smell intense sugary strawberry and plum, with a light, soft jasmine and rose floral peeking through the sugar. The custard I get more the further away I smell it. I like the pattern on the bottle because that’s exactly what I think of- cute n sexy fishnets dressed with hearts. First spray is tart and fruity, dry down to sweet, subtle fruity, creamy custard, subtle floral with a musky base. I can see where this would be headache inducing for some, but the dry down is more warm and sensual to me. This velvety warm dry down counteracts the sharp tartness of the initial spray. I can also see where someone may consider this too juvenile, but I see the playfulness in its youth. Sugary sweet summery strawberry- a cute kind of sexy.

This is such a sweet and pretty fragrance. Smells like strawberry candy in the best way. The plum is quite faint. I detect no florals, but I guess that's for the better. The custard is present when first sprayed then fades quickly. Its sillage is moderate. It doesn't project too much. It lasts about a couple of hours on my skin, but given the price point, it's expected. The packaging is as cutesy as it was before. This is so good for daytime use during spring or summer. True to Notes : 7/10 Packaging : 8/10 Fragrance : 9.5/10 Sillage : 7/10 Longevity : 7.5/10

Ooooh, this is very much in the Pink Sugar by Aquolina kind of territory; just with strawberry. I've collected B&BW mists for a long time and somehow completely missed out on this one. I absolutely love it! The plum note really differentiates it from the other strawberry mists. It's definitely red velvet shortcake vibes with a creamy frosting and fruity jam center. Also, this lasts decently long on me! Big fan. <3

This was MY SCENT back in high school. Sexy sweet berries that make everyone hover over you!! I wore this when I met Tyler, The Creator back in 2014 at a private concert/event and he said I smell good. So Tyler likes this one LMAO. Beyond happy they brought it back recently cause I stocked upppp

omg, i LOOOVEEEE this fragrance!! <3 super fruity and sugary sweet! she's cozy, girly, dessert-like yet fresh instead of sticky. my fav part of this scent is that it has a clean, almost baby powder-y vibe to it.... literally made for me!! :3

Praise the Gawds, they brought her back. It's a little bit weak this time, but at 3.99 you can just spray away and buy a few backups. Worth it <3.

it smells like a sweet fruity baby power in the best way possible to me, I really like it.

I am 10 years old, and my mother has decided to make over my bedroom. She slaps pink paint and wallpaper on the walls surrounding my pink and white canopy bed. She's gone completely overboard with this project, as it's not necessarily what I want, but what she wants me to have. The Strawberry Shortcake wallpaper, the pink paint, the 3 piece bedroom suite that she bought on credit...this is her dream, and I'm just along for the ride. That whole scenario is true-happened in 1982 and was probably the first time I realized that my mom lived vicariously through me-and this perfume puts me right back in that bedroom with its frills and colors and pure fluff. This fragrance is just that: frills, shades of pink and fluff. But this time, I'm all in...this is one of the creamiest, dreamiest fragrances I've worn and although I am WAAAAYYYY past the age of the pink canopy bed and Strawberry Shortcake wallpaper, this does make me feel pretty, in a somewhat innocent, youthful way. This is not a frag for teeny-boppers, although they certainly could wear it. It's got a bit of an edge and I'll attribute that to the amber and woody notes in this. That keeps this juice from veering into pure teen territory. The amber is warm, almost fuzzy like a cashmere sweater. My skin amps amber up any time I wear it, so for me this is nice. I like the amber. The huge hit of strawberry at the beginning is a bit of a surprise, because I know it's there, but man....it's really there for about the first hour or so. After that I'm doused in whipped cream and gardenia (another fragrance my skin amplifies well) and that part is bliss. I like the strawberry, don't get me wrong, but that slow, white flower blossom is very, very nice. Yes this is sweet, but not headache-inducing (again, the amber brings the sweetness without all the crystallization of sugar) and it plays well with me in the summer. In the cold weather this hits my skin and just dissipates into nothingness rather quickly. The warmer months with this are perfect for me, and that's good as this is a nice change from the citrus-coconut-sand options out there for warmer weather. Citrus can go well on my skin or just go straight cleaning product, so this is a great option. The vanilla in the whipped cream note is a great option in place of the ever-present mid-July coconut note in so many other summer fragrance offerings. I like this. I buy multiples of it when I find it (online mainly) and the lotion I've had for nearly 3 years is so potent that I could wear that without the body mist and still have it radiating from me for hours. This lasts well on my skin-again, attributed to the amber and wood base-and I like the frame of mind it puts me in: I feel pretty, I feel vibrant and unique and I'm ready to hit the boardwalk. Someone else can take the pink bedroom and the canopy bed, I'm headed for some fun in the sun!

Smells like strawberry, mixed berry, plummy scented shampoo; not an insult at all, I LOVE it. Cutie, clean, fresh, light, she’s candy without being too sweet, and accessible for me since it's B&BW... and I got it at their semiannual sale, so, 3 bottles for super cheap too. I sampled it first obviously But Tbh half the reason I got it was because it reminds me of someone/something... it was on sale so I took the risk and bought it, and I'm SO glad I did. It's not what I thought was my style at the time but I actually love it so much and it totally IS. I live in a hot humid climate so the light clean smell is a huge plus; it’s sweet without being sticky or cloying (in general it's really not that sweet, at least on my bodychem, and probs also due to the shampoo-ness). It smells like sweet shampoo. It's the frag that made me realise I wanna smell like shampoo. Shampoo-like scents like these are such easy reaches, so versatile and wearable... subtle in the sense that you don't smell like you use perfume, you just smell like scented beauty/selfcare products as if, like, you fully fully, whole selfcare routine, clean yourself up daily... Like if I smelled this on someone I'd assume it's their shampoo or something. So daily wearable, a very appeal-to-all scent... another huge plus for me since I worry a lot about utility. I love it so bad. All in all, the wearability, paired with the quality of the scent!!!, paired with the price and availability makes this TOP TIER for me. It was actually my signature scent at school for a while. Also I think my boyfriend would like it on me. So a big plus.

I'm not sure why this gets so much hate, I personally don't find it potent enough to evoke such strong reactions...but everyone is different. The mist is polite and safe IMO, but possibly the lotions have a more pronounced presence? I don't think this deviates from former releases much (I already reviewed the older version in the actual perfume bottle). Sometimes B&BW reformulated things, sometimes they don't. It's worth mentioning either way, but this feels the same to me as it always has. In short, it's a light, sparkling strawberry with sugary undertones. Only a small amount of vanilla rides beneath the rest of it, keeping it more *sugary* rather than *bakery* in it's character. Think strawberry icing instead of cake. Strawberry Shortcake feels as if it took Velvet Sugar, and added more cake and base to it. I actually prefer this, and always have. It's handy as an easy reach, and sometimes I literally crave it. It's also a super useful layering too, and I've deployed it to soften or sweeten heavy things. It plays well with others. A guilty pleasure? Sure. But f*ck guilt, just have fun. Fragrance doesn't always need to be serious! 🍓 🍬

Velvet Sugar is def one of those iconic BBW scents I’ve wanted for SO long. I remember wanting it as a kid, and now that I’m finally a grown woman who can spend her own big-girl money, I’m so happy I finally got my hands on it!! <3 I’ve heard people compare it to a strawberry cupcake, but honestly, I get more of a sugared strawberry than a cakey or vanilla gourmand. It smells like freshly picked strawberries tossed in a generous amount of sugar—almost like you’re making homemade strawberry jam. At first sniff, it did remind me a little of Strawberry Pound Cake from BBW, but I actually prefer Velvet Sugar because it’s much more wearable. Strawberry Pound Cake is sweeter in a more dessert-like, almost “childish” way, while Velvet Sugar feels like it’s all about the fruit and the sugar without being too bakery. The packaging is SO adorable too!! 🩷 It makes my perfume collection look even cuter sitting on the shelf :3

Simple and beautiful. Velvet Sugar is strawberries and cream with a generous dusting of sugar. It’s tart, sweet laconic and delicious. A base of clean white musk and airy florals keep it from being too much. It would be great for layering with many of the recent perfumes with a creamy strawberry note; Yara, Burberry Her, Si Fiori and My Way (yes strawberry is not listed but I smell it). Actually it can work with most gourmands Fantasy, Punk Sugar, Fancy, etc. it’s playful, delightful and youthful but versatile for layering with many modern releases.

Not a love at first sniff, but it grew on me. It reminds me of Strawberry Letter, which also underwhelmed me, but it’s not too bad. Im wearing it tonight as my evening scent layered with other strawberry /bubblegum *pink* scents and that’s what prompted me to review. I don’t remember if I reviewed this already or not but I remember I wasn’t a fan when I first got it. I got it on Mercari in a bundle full of perfumes I actually wanted, and this spray & body cream just happened to be in the bundle. Whoever said it smells like Pink Sugar lied to you.

This is a solid B&BW scent. It's a very sweet fruity scent and as it dries down I can definitely get the custard note. I don't really get the floral or jasmine (which is a shame because it is one of my favorite notes). It is a little artificial smelling but not more than is to be expected at this price point. I picked it up during the semi-annual sale and don't regret it, I think it will be a good all year scent.

it’s smells good to me. I do have an older version and not the newer one. But, it smells sweet but not too sweet to me. It’s not extremely strong on me though unless i spray a crap ton. It does last about two-three hours though which is good for a body spray to me.

i love this! very sweet and girly. at first it starts off as a sweet shampoo scent, and dries down into a sweet fruity smell. i like it! it also has a good bit of longevity. not too long, but long enough. perfect for summer and spring!!

this one isn’t what I expected, I wanted more gourmand red velvet but this is more fruity floral fresh. I do like it though, I always love a strawberry heavy scent. It’s very playful though, it’s giving strawberry syrup.
