Gris Charnel Extrait

I own both Gris Charnel EDP and Gris Charnel Extrait, and the Extrait is my favourite of the two. They are similar but not identical and like many people said, if this is a scent profile you enjoy, it would not be redundant to own both. The Extrait is a more intense, dark, intoxicating version of the original Gris Charnel. I believe it's the vanilla, combined with tonka bean, that contributes to the exquisite dry down of the Extrait. To me, it's 100% unisex but you need to enjoy this scent profile to like this - woody, dark vanilla, sandalwood and cardamom. If you're only used to wearing very feminine, sweet, floral fragrances, this will appear slightly masculine to you. The Extrait has very good longevity on me - I get 8 to 10 hours with strong projection for the first 4 hours. With the original Gris Charnel, I only got around 4-6 hours, with moderate projection for the first 2 hours. I still wear and love both, but I save the original Gris Charnel for everyday use, and the Extrait for evening and going out, when I want my fragrance to be bold and noticeable. If there's one word I could use to describe the Extrait, it's confident - this is how you will feel when wearing it. Also, don't be put off by the price - this is a 100ml bottle, which you can often get with a 10% of 15% discount, which makes it a lot more affordable than other niche fragrances. I absolutely love BDK as a house and I find them very affordable compared to other niche houses - when you look at the price per ml - and the quality definitely is there.

Currently own a sample of this and wearing it as my scent of the day. I smelled it for the first time in a separate batch of samples I purchased last year and knew immediately that I had fallen in love with it. Spicy -- but not in an overstated way -- seductively creamy, and complex. Just a lovely and luxurious scent, and no slack in terms of performance either. I've been looking for an iris fragrance to add to my little collection for a while now. I used to own Gentleman EdP Reserve Privée by Givenchy and although I enjoyed it quite a bit before gifting it to a friend, Gris Charnel Extrait is levels above for me personally. That's not to say that it would be redundant to own both, but being that they are cousins in my eyes and I'm trying to curate my collection, I am more inclined to choose just one. The only issue in my prioritization of acquiring a full bottle is that, based on some discussion I've seen online (YouTube, reviews here, etc.) it seems worthwhile to get my nose on Dior Homme Intense before pulling the trigger due to the price difference and level of similarity. So, I’ll wait, hold on to the rest of my sample, compare it with DHI... and the story is to be continued. Update: tried DHI, it's great and can see the similarities but it just doesn't cut it in my opinion. Something creamier and sweeter about this one that's just irresistible to me. Perhaps the fig? I will be purchasing a full bottle. 10/10

I love this one! It was love from the first sniff! Got this a few weeks ago and the OG today. I like the OG but I really love this one. It somehow reminds me of Dior Homme Parfum the old version. I know they have nothing in common except the iris note but both to me have this velvety dark mysterious vibe about them. The opening of this one gives me the same feeling Dior Homme Parfum 2014/2020 used to give me. The iris here is different earthy and non the lipstiky one like in DHP. Then comes the lovely jammy sweet syrupy fig. It just melts. The fig here is sweeter and jammier compared to the OG where it is more milky. The sandal wood is stronger and sweeter mixes really well with the vanilla. The sandal wood in this one reminds me of the sandalwood in jpg scandal Parfum. It’s sweet dence and woody and so calming and warm. I unfortunately don’t get much of black tea on my skin (which I would love to). Love the patchouli and cardamom in this one. It’s dark it’s woody it’s spicy it’s sweet but not too sweet it’s warm it’s amazing. The dry down on me is most prominently the vanila with some quiet sandal wood and quiet dreamy fig. On my skin the fig stays till the very end it just goes more quiet. Bought mine on a discounter for around 180€ which is a good price having in mind it costs 260€ whee I am. Longevity and projection are really good on me.

I got my bottle few days ago. This is not a new scent or even too different from the original. This is an improvement! . I would say the original and the extrait are similar by 90%. Simply, the extrait is woody and smokey version of the original . I'm not sure if this is spicier, I feel both the EDP and the extrait have equal spiciness from cardamom. This extrait is not linear, it start with tea and cardamom then after 20min fig join the party with milky addtion, after 30min it gets very smoky from vetiver, and with time it gets sweater from the vanilla and tonka beans. This perfume is centered around tonka beans. I want to clarify for some youtubers that this composition is unique, I don't believe that BDK want to copy YSL la nuit de l'homme, not even inspired by it. The fig, black tea and cardamom mix is creative. The longevity is super, it last 7 to 10 hours. Sillage is good for the 1st hour but boom after one hour it gets smokey with excellent sillage. Rating 8.5/10 I wished if it has more cardamom & tea. Update After wearing the extrait many times I feel the scent is definitely sweater and slightly leans feminine. TBH I don't care, the scent is phenomenal, love it! I just want more cardamom in it.

This perfume exudes not just class, but also warmth and comfort in equal measure. It opens with a bold burst of cardamom, introducing a slight bitterness that perfectly balances the richness of vanilla and the depth of woody notes. The initial impression is green and slightly sour, with a hint of smooth leather adding complexity. As it dries down, the fragrance transforms into something incredibly cozy—creamy vanilla wrapped in the soft warmth of vetiver and tonka bean. It feels frothy, almost milky, with a velvety sweetness that I absolutely adore. While the opening leans a bit masculine, the dry-down shifts beautifully into a more feminine softness. This is definitely the perfume of a sophisticated, well-dressed and sexy woman. The sillage of this perfume is intimate, only at arm's length but I actually prefer it this way. It'll be too overwhelming if the sillage is stronger. The longevity is excellent, it lasts for 12+ hours on my skin. Nothing to complain about its peformance. Overall: Perfume: 9/10 Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: incredible, 10/10
