Rouge Smoking

A DARK AND SWEET CRIMSON CHERRY [short review] Before my first spray of this fragrance, I assumed I would not like it because it had cherry in it. Funny, isn't it? Because, to me, almost every cherry scent smells somehow artificial, sweet, fruity and sticky. That applies at least to the majority of cherry scents I've tried so far. That's also why I don't care much for Tom Ford's Lost Cherry (but I do love his smoked cherry fragrance). For me, Rouge Smoking is in the "love it or hate it" category, unlike BDK Gris Charnel, which everyone loves. The amazing thing about this scent is that it smells smoky, even though there's no incense or tobacco in it... I think it's the cashmeran and ambroxan notes that do the trick. The cherry is, of course, the star of the show but it is so skilfully interwoven with the balsamic labdanum and the tonka bean that it simply smells delicious on mY skins, although In a near subtle way. Towards the end, about four hours After the opening, the scent becomes slightly powdery and vanillic besides getting close to the skin. Unfortunately the sillage is not as powerful as I would like it to be. The fragrance itself lasts for six or seven hours. Well, It's just a matter of having a decanter and re-spraying a few puffs when you are Faro away from the bottle. MY OPINION: Great scent! I have to revise my expectations of cherry scents... And yes, it's an expensive choice, as all BDKs are quite expensive. For the current prices (about 300 € for the 100 ml flask) the perfume should have more performance. Don't buy it blindly. Rouge Smoking is a man-magnet in a bottle. From the very first spray, it wraps you in this warm, vanilla cherry haze that feels playful and seductive without ever trying too hard. For context ... no other fragrance I have worn (I have hundreds) has gotten this kind of reaction. Maybe it was my personality that day, maybe it was the Rouge Smoking ...

What a beautiful scent. Like actually SO beautiful, it’s a sweet almond seductive fragrance. I’ve blind bought 95% of my fragrances a lot of the time if they’re nice but meh, They’re just nice and nothing more. This is one of the very few blind buys I’ve actually fell in love with upon the first spray. I just got it today and upon first spray it’s even nicer then what I anticipated. It’s so beautiful. The only thing I see this fragrance potentially falling off might be the projection and silage . I feel already it’s kinda faint but I haven’t given a full wearing. But scent wise this is gorgeous and SO much better than what I anticipated. I hope the new extrait goes even deeper in this DNA because this was such a Win for me. Absolutely lovely cherry, almond and powdery scent. Perfectly unisex for a guy or a girl. I’ll be definitely wearing this a lot more often this winter it’s my style of fragrance. I know I’m gonna run through this quick tho these type of scent I run through quick from how much I overspray lol. I’m gonna need a backup bottle quick.

Tried this once last winter. Didn’t speak to me initially so it took a backseat for months as I turned my attention to the hundreds of other samples I’ve accumulated. Giving it another go today, I was instantly reminded of why it wasn’t a love at first sniff: it smells like root beer on me. I love root beer. A&W, in a glass, as an occasional treat. But then after only about ten minutes, the root beer dissipated and it began to smell like soft, semi-sweet, faintly powdery, ambery, raspberry-vanilla jasmine incense on my skin. Looking up the notes, I think a combination of cherry, heliotrope, vanilla, cashmere, and labdanum may be what it’s giving me. I do get cherry, now that I know it’s there. But it’s subdued, and unique. Set apart from the plethora of run of the mill, front and center, hyped-up cherry forward frags. And I do see the comparison to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, especially in the far dry down - but much prefer Rouge Smoking. It's so good. Warm, enveloping, perfectly musky. Intoxicating sensuousness.

Rouge Smoking’s opening reminds me of a cherry cola that is just about to go flat. When the heart takes over a powdery sweetness blooms on my skin. The cherry lasts a long time, but she is not the star. This is more of a vanilla forward scent than a cherry one. I do not pick up anything smoky or medical, and if you usually hate cherry, I still think this is worth testing. The Ambroxan and labdanum are very tame and do not take over the scent. I really love this. I imagine a soft, feminine woman with a quiet confidence wearing this. She is sensual and mysterious and does not need your attention. Rouge Smoking is addicting and sexy but not overtly so, I felt just as comfortable wearing this at work as I did on a night out. 9/10 scent for me. This is intimate wearing and I wish is lasted longer, I consistently get five hours of wear before I have to top off. For layering suggestions try: 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition to amp up the fruitiness or Michela Mezzetti’s Lick Me to smell like a vanilla cherry ice cream float.

This perfume is lovely, the opening is fresh and sweet. It does smell like cherry cola but in the best way. Is sweet but not too sweet, is also fresh and powdery at the same time. Is very well blended, I can smell/distinguish perfectly the notes; the orange blossom, the bergamot, the cherry which is like the cherries on top of a creative drink, I can smell the vanilla which is more a cozy/ woody/sweet vanilla not the cheap smelling kind, I get fresh spring white flowers and woods. I just got the perfume today and I’m totally in love. I love orange blossom and this vanilla/cherry/woods/flowers combination has me feeling like I just had a luxury bath with white flowers petals, I’m with my bathrobe and choosing my jewelry and a black baby doll type of dress to go to a fancy restaurant. This perfume Is cozy, sweet, innocent, different and sexy. The only thing is that I feel is more like a skin scent, it stays close to the skin not loud at all. I also feel it could be great for layering.

I’ve owned this for a few years and it’s still a love! Rouge Smoking opens like an effervescent Dr Pepper or Cherry Coke. The cherry is there but it’s not very prominent on me. On my skin it’s more of a sweet, spiced vanilla. I don’t really think of this as a ‘smokey’ fragrance- it has some smokey nuances but they are light and sweet. I would describe RS as dry from the pink pepper, vanilla husk and heliotrope, but it isn’t powdery in a cloying way. The tonka and ambroxan dominate the base, and maintain the fizzy, sparkly feel. This always makes me think of a late summer bonfire and vintage LipSmacker Dr Pepper chapstick. I prefer to wear this in fall when the weather is still warm. It’s airy and does project well. I get lots of compliments on it, especially from men. As my bottle has aged the performance has improved. I used to only get about 4 hours longevity, now I get 7-8.

idk why i havent left a review on this but now here i am. this was my first ever fragrance i bought and because my brother got a decant of it, so technically i bought for both of us. Its such a unique kind of vanilla, like its not the normal kind of vanilla but super nice. But thats the mid/dry down/base of this. The opening i dont really feel cherry but instead its peppery and (abit of tobacco my cousin says) but its not that offensive honestly to me. anyways its not that sweet which is great btw, so it really captures that unique vanilla. Its just a great blend of that peppery vanilla (actually lets just say that tonka bean i guess). You guys really have to smell this to know what im saying! get a decant you wont regret it!! anyways this is literally unisex, i dont see why men wont wear this too. its super sexy and seducing ngl

Just received my decant. I am disappointed :( I didn’t expect it to be, considering the notes, but it’s not AT ALL ‘rouge’ or ‘smoking’. I don’t even get cherry, maybe vaguely. It’s nice but it’s not unique, it does have the JPG scandal dna (and NR dna?) which I’m not a fan. To me this is just orange blossom and for some reason jasmine? Little bit of powdery and musky, and a little tonka. Anyway, I was so excited for this but I will definitely not be purchasing a full bottle. Edit: Idk what happened but I decided to give this one more chance today and I am SHOCKED. I've never smelled anything like this before. It's so addicting and sexy. The cherry is still vague but it's there in the background supporting the other notes. I get a lot of cashmere wood and heliotrope. Maybe the first spray was misleading. Anyway, now I love it!

I cannot get over the number of negative and meh reviews for this fragrance... it is truly one of my favorites. If rich, syrupy, dark fruit sounds good to you, and especially if a cherry forward scent is calling to you, then try this. It is sophisticated, a nice date night scent or appropriate for another classy event--gallery, concert, etc. I find it grown-up and not overly sweet or medicinal. I'm just so glad this one lands so beautifully for me--feeling sorry for those who get something medicinal or bubble gummy out of this. Its lasting power and projection are probably average to above average. I also give HUGE bonus point for the BDK house cuz they have a 10 ml travel size for $45 at Luckyscent--perhaps elsewhere too. Outstanding for someone who has too much perfume and yet... can't stop getting more!

This is my favorite BDK fragrance I've got Gris Chanel also and it's great but just not my main jam when it comes to fragrances. This is a chic cherry cola that still is a perfume. Sweet and yummy. I do wish the notes I love the most were amped just a bit more which is why I went to the extrait, but it wasn't for me as it added to the fragrance but didn't really make the cherry, the almond, the vanilla more and what was added made my favorite bits more subtle for me instead. One of my favorite cherry scents for a low key easy wear. It wear it at home and for errands, easy regular day. Fine for work too. I like something more for evening, dates, special occassions but this would be fine then too if you love it.

I didn't understand Rouge Smoking at first. It took a few wears; I sprayed the red juice on almost reluctantly, wondering when I would smell the cherry coke everyone promised As with any perfume, expectations cloud my judgement This is NOT a Dr. Pepper soda scent. Whoever says so is clearly drinking black market soda. Instead, this is a perfectly creamy, velvety, dream. Rouge Smoking is blended to perfection... I can't pick out any one note. It's SO smooth. A little sweet, a little cozy, a little sexy. I've worn this to work and I would wear it for a date. It feels slightly more sophisticated/mature than I am, but who am I to deny myself the opportunity to play dress-up? Love, love, love!

This was my very first BDK purchase way back, and still one of my favorites in my collection. This smells like root beer and cigarettes and I absolutely LOVE it. It is not smoky at all. It's sweet. A little cherry cola spice. It just has that "I'm sitting at a bar drinking my damn drink and I smell damn good and I'm damn happy to be here" vibe. This is nostalgic, comforting, and is just plain syrupy deliciousness in a bottle. I've got a travel size of the Extrait version and they are not similar at all. The extrait is harsh and not cozy in any way. Burns my nose actually. I can't wear it. But this? Perfection in a bottle, especially if you are tired of the same ol' same ol'.

To me at least, the opening is literally Dr. Pepper. It has that sparkling, spicy effervescence from the Pink Pepper and Bergamot mixed with a sweet, candied Cherry. Pros: The most "fun" cherry on the market—smells exactly like a high-end Dr. Pepper or Cherry Coke float. Zero "medicinal/cough syrup" vibe (unlike Tom Ford Lost Cherry or Mancera Wild Cherry) at least to my nose. The dry down is powdery, fluffy, vanilla heaven. Cons: Performance is heartbreaking for the price. It becomes a skin scent way too fast (3-4 hours max). If you hate heliotrope (that almond/play-doh vibe), you might find the mid a bit too powdery. It is not a "beast mode" clubbing scent. It’s intimate.

This review is gonna be chaotic 😂 I was wearing this perfume while working at a convenience store and got a gun pulled on me. For awhile, I was afraid to wear it again. However, it's such a beautiful fragrance. It's not the typical cherry note like what you smell in Kayali Burning Cherry or Tom Ford or Prada Candy. This cherry is very vanillic and spicy. It's an ice creamy cherry. For some reason, I prefer to wear this in the winter time because it reminds me of the cherry chip loaf they make in the 12 Dates of Christmas. It smells like a dessert. Despite the semi-traumatic experience that I had while wearing this fragrance, I'm biting the bullet and buying a full bottle. 😅

This must be one of the best cherry fragrances I have come across so far. The opening is a delicious mix of juicy cherry and sweet marzipan. The cherry and tonka notes stay prominent throughout the drydown, but Rouge Smoking never goes into juvenile territory because there is an ambery note in the background that adds some elegance and sophistication. I am always skeptical when the notes of cashmere wood, musk and ambroxan are listed because they tend to smell very sharp and screechy to my nose, especially when overdosed. However, I am happy to say that Rouge Smoking never goes into that sharp territory and always stays smooth and pleasant.

airy sweet & sensual fizzy cherry vanilla coca cola all bottled up. an interesting interplay is happening here where somehow there's a slight adult feel with the musk trying to cloak what i feel like is a mostly girlish base. if being a woman in your mid-20s could smell like anything it would be this. rouge smoking is the kind of thing you wear to convince the older crowd you're all grown up now. and, sure, at times you can conceal your naiveté, but you can't help it. the shy pink pepper tells on you; you're still so, so young. and it's awfully endearing ... very sex kitten if we want to talk archetypes

This is the epitome of quiet luxury to me. The atomizer treats the wearer with the most fine mist of the scent, which starts out like spicy, sugared vanilla. As it warms on the skin, nuances of root bear and powdery sweetness come out. This scent makes me think of the powdered sweetness of a bag of marshmallows, light and fluffy. About an hour into the wear the spiciest begins to fade and I’m left with an almondy, sweet scent with a hint of that beautiful spice. It is not a beast mode scent, but is unique and will earn compliments. This is definitely in my top 10 for life!

Opens very similar to Scandal Le Parfum - vanilla sweet as a McDonalds Sundae. I prefer Rouge Smoking, as it dries down more floral. If you like one, you might like the other, although Scandal Le Parfum is quite synthethic and sugary in the drydown. Rouge Smoking smells like sugar coated flowers in the drydown. The orange blossom adds a bubblegummy vibe. The notes blend well, and I can’t really pick them a part. Lovely scent, but you have to enjoy sweet fragrances to enjoy this. Unfortunately it gives me a headache after a while, so I won’t be getting a full bottle.

*update* I’ve had this perfume on all day now. It’s nice because it’s not “loud” but it projects and is quite alluring and seductive. It gives dark feminine energy vibes but in a more mature way than let’s say Lost Cherry. I don’t really get that “cola” vibe that people were talking about. But I do get some sort of Myhr or incense sort of note. I feel like it smells a bit older than expected but not in a bad way. I got two compliments on this in one day if that says anything. Obviously anyone can wear this but I’d say it’s most suitable for 25^

Look at me eating my words and loving a cherry perfume. lol I tested this a few years ago and found it identical to Mandorlo di Sicilia at the time, which I already owned. On a whim I revisited my decant and let's just say I have found my perfect cherry. While it is similar to MdS, the citrus is replaced with creamy cherry and the overall effect is more dense and polished. It is so very smooth and sexy. I get cherry-floral bubblegum with a gentle smokiness. It only gets better as it wears. Now I'm craving more cherry.. funny how that happens.

This is tantalizing, delicious and very sexy. It’s mysterious but in a coy, playful and daring way. It’s not dark in a bleak way, it’s like the corner of a bar, leopard print, cigarettes, red lips. She’s not completely shrouded by darkness, she has a scarlet aura. She’s sweet and slightly naive but has a feisty sort of punkette vibe that tells people she’s a sweet time but not to be fucked with. This is fun. I really love this especially for a night out with friends. Playing pool, a few martinis and a hot make out sesh in a souped up car.

I just want to know why people are listing many different various fragrances of all types and notes as "reminds me of" Love By Kilian or Benevolence by House of Sillage?? WTF?? No. This isn't close to Love By Kiian or Benevolence by HoS 🤯 Rouge Smoking is sweeeet. Loads of cherry 🍒 and heliotrope, and vanilla...with some musk and hints of tonka bean that adds a bit of that quintessential tonka "smoky" note. It's actually really nice. If your looking for a sweety sweet powdery cherry vanilla w a bit of complexity....test this.

Cherry but not medicinal but also not sickly sweet, brings out this vintage vibes with the smoky feelings in the background,. The smoke here isn't like the tabacco or cigar ashes but actually gave it a lift in the cherry making it a bit airy with a little smoke. in the drydown the smoke settle down and the cherry are the main character again, super nice, versatile and classy. Don't judge it only from the opening if you find it a little overwhelming. Let it settle down and i'm sure you are going to like it.

HOLY SMOKES!!!! I've had this fragrance in my collection for over a year, just sitting and taking up space. I just never could decide if I liked it or not. UNTIL....I started wearing it this Fall. Oh my, I have been missing out on this gem!!! RS starts off with the effervescent quality of Dr. Pepper (no, seriously) and finally dries down to a soft, pleasant vanilla with intermittent whiffs of orange blossom on my skin. Super nice!!!!

Initially I thought it smelled like tortilla . But then I started to perceive it as powdered sugar donut with cherry filling after sleeping with it and waking up to its beautiful, powdery sweet pastry aroma . It’s lightly spicy but not much . I don’t get cherry coke, which is good because I don’t like sodas. I get an elegant and comforting cherry filled powdered sugar donut . Projection is moderate and lasts 12+ hours on skin

Amo los perfumes empolvados. Este es un empolvado luminoso, cálido , envolvente. Es un perfume de cercanía. Al principio en mi piel se siente bastante alcohólico, pero a los segundos cambia y se transforma en una bufanda de cachemira, suave, acogedora. Es una vainilla tibia acaramelada que me recuerda a las piruletas mezcladas con lipstick, un heliotropo polvoso con algo de violetas. Es algo parecido a como debe oler el amor.

I ADORE this fragrance. I understand that some people maybe don't want to smell dr. pepper or rootbeer adjacent but I am not one of those people. Also it's not as cherry or soda forward as some people are saying either (at least on me) and the cherry that IS there is like a pleasant maraschino and not cough syrup. She lasted well on me in the cold but if you want better projection get the Extrait.

This grown and sexy. The subtle smokiness of the cherry is so elusive yet so whimsical. I have been getting whiffs of it all day from when I wore today about 12 hours ago and it’s still pushing. The sillage is not loud but trust it’s powerful enough. When I wear this I think of a black cat energy. Elusive, mysterious but yet alluring. This is a perfect scent for winter. Will repurchase.

HOLY MACARONI THIS SH*T is so good!!! Want to smell like Cherry cola? Cinnamon gum? No? Well neither did I until I met this majestic beauty. She's spicy, sweet, fizzy, sexy, effervescent. Well balanced & absolutely gorgeous. A powdery cherry cola vanilla. Striking in the fall months. Rouge Smoking is the hot office siren. A red head in stilettos. Top 3 fragrance for life.

I certainly get the Dr. Pepper reference, but for me it's more reminiscent of the rootbeer barrel candies many of us had as kids. The only frag I've smelled that does this better is Annick Goutal's (long discontinued) Myrrhe Ardente. But you'd have to shell out a good $400 for a bottle these days. Goutal pretty much nailed the rootbeer note. I'd give it an 8.5/10.0

Wore this today from a sample I picked up. I absolutely love this fragrance, it's beautifully blended and I love that sweet dr pepper cherry note. The only downside is it's longevity, but honestly it smells so good I'll be picking up a full bottle ready for next autumn/winter anyway (I'll just do a tactical re-apply at the 5 hour mark) 😅

I do not hear either cherry and it's not powdery for me at all. However it's turns heads and at first evening I tried it - I've been asked what was that. It's blended absolutely iconic. Not screaming, but bright and unforgettable. I can't even tell what anything being close to it. So happy with the purchase.

Probably my favorite sexy cherry fragrance yet? It’s sweet, rich, heavy, and definitely a nighttime, cold-weather-only scent, but it feels so smooth, rich and luxurious! Bonus points that the husband loves it. I get the Dr. Pepper or root beer comparisons, but in the most sophisticated, complimentary way.

delicious and cherrylicious! I will be honest and say I prefer the extrait as I find it a bit more sultry, which is what I was going for, so when I rebuy I will be buying the extrait. Definitely a fragrance for the colder months, but if you're looking for something sweet and sexy - I love this one!

fairly similar to ysl all over red in terms of sweet vanilla cherry. this is smoother, simpler and more syrupy. i love this so much <3 the title can be deceiving - ‘smoking’ refers to paris couture, specifically ysl suits. not smokey notes, as i assumed.

Incredibly beautiful and addictive. It’s not something I would wear to the office but in my own space or going out it’s divine! It is very different, fun and sexy! The comparison to Dr Pepper, I can see but I like that as it’s a softer refined version.

This fragrance opens with a beautiful, powdery candy sweetness that blends seamlessly before transitioning into a warm, sensual ambery vanilla. you get an initial powdery almonds with that sweet jammy cherry and then comes the vanilla, is a love.

I love this fragrance - on m, it's a very subtle "your skin but better" type of sweet musk. I definitely get the cherry cola at first spritz, but the dry down (on my skin) is so soft and subtle, that it reminds me of Tom Ford's Metallique.

This is cherry vanilla-flavored Dr. Pepper soda with a powdery, creamy, tonka bean dry down. Love at first sniff for me. The projection is not beast-mode but it is moderate and Rouge Smoking lasts all day on my skin.

My first niche after I gave up on BTSO incedent cherry. Never been more satisfied with a choice. I love the classy and fancyness effect flows with this scent. Really worth it since it has a lot of discounts.

Yes! This is really making me happy lately. Layered it with Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato 33 , I swear the head turns today were crazy ! I got discounts I didn't even ask for at the store . Love this one !

Dirty, but the good kind. This perfume, an all black outfit and a red lip is one of my favorite looks. My favorite date night fragrance. A huge compliment getter if you dare to really wear it.

Very unique and stunning composition that is beautiful on skin and projects, attracting compliments. There is something kind of candy like but almost cola. Very unusual.

Smells so much like flat Dr. Pepper to me!! I'm kind of fascinated by this and may have to buy a decant. My skin does seem to eat these BDK fragrances up, though :')

Red double popsicle from childhood in the opening, cashmere woods and tonka in the dry down. LOVE I wish the popsicle part lasted all day though.

Rouge smoking refers to clothes, red tuxedo, a scent for evening wear. Not to any notes being smoky :-) I have it and love it.
