Wood Jasmin

This is absolutely stunning! It's not so much about jasmine, but about plum, subtle smoky incense, and Peru Balsam. It's so rich and gorgeous, but there's something in it that leaves an impression of a slight cooling sensation that underpins the warmth for most of the duration of the fragrance. I can't figure out what it is, but it definitely has that WOW factor. The projection and longevity are both solid. It projects well past an arm's length for an hour or longer, then reigns itself in cumulatively closer, but doesn't become a skin scent for several hours. For me the longevity varies, but it has a good 6 or 7 hours of functional longevity, then stays a pleasant balsamic skin scent for a couple more hours until it dissipates. Comparisons to Tom Ford's Plum Japonais and Nasomatto Baraonda are inevitable, but this has enough complexity going on with the bed of jasmine over which everything is layered that it definitely stands on its own as an original, powerful, and beautiful unisex fragrance that begs to be experienced. This house has some of the best niche fragrances I've ever smelled. Other winners are: Rouge Smoking, Gris Charnel, and Creme de Cuir. This one might be my favorite, but there's some other close contenders there as well. 10/10

Woah! I was hit with skanky intense resinous jasmine. I could have sworn oud was present. I'm a bit on the wall about Peru balsam. It's quite a dense, resinous note and I can find it too much. It plays a big part in this intense beast. Thankfully there is a jasmine bomb on the other side of this fragrant see saw and balances it all out. Is there such a thing as jasmine chutney?! It could smell like this. I admit I was overwhelmed on the opening but after 30 mins I have really warmed to it. I can find the jasmine note too much sometimes and even migraine inducing. Here it has been warmed and softened. The plum adds a little fruity sweetness and the incense a lovely smoky aspect. Further down the timeline and I do become reminded of TF Plum Japonais but this is not as sweet. Jasmine is king here with plum and balsam the supporting acts. I've tested all of the BDK range and they are all nice but this one is fb worthy for me. It has the best longevity and sillage of all. It's definitely unisex. Some women might find this too much. I adore Plum Japonais so this is most definitely my cup of fragrance. There is a place in my wardrobe for both.

Wow! This is hugely interesting, a real eyeopener with so many niche brands I'd seen these bottles around but just sort of glazed over especially a brand with Initials just doesnt really capture my attention no matter how nice the bottles are. (Which they are.) It's the stuff inside that matters and this comes out with a boozy almost gourmand smell but it's not trying too hard to be all sozzled, more smooth and effortless. You don't really get a lot of jasmine initially but a certain exotic and waxy florality, gently throbs at the back of aged, sweet sherry cask of thing that Wood Jasmin is. Clearly resinous and warm too. The drydown definitely reminds me of something else, (I can't place) more dried fruit, lightly vanillic but not all creamy or typical. For a man that doesn't need any more orientals and often states he doesn't like gourmands, this is sort of neither and both and I'm on a no buy thing at the moment, I still want a bottle. I will have to wear it properly but the initial signs are good.

In my opinion the name Wood Jasmin is bit of a misnomer-in other words, the name of the fragrance is a bit misleading. It definitely is a woody fragrance, however I don’t find it to be jasmin dominant. There is jasmin which lifts it a bit, however I don’t find Jasmin to be a main player. On me, this is a beautiful plumy, resinous, boozy, woody fragrance that is extremely seductive. Although there are no boozy notes listed, I find that sometimes resins can come across rather boozy smelling- there is also artemisia which may be playing into this. This fragrance is completely unisex. It actually reminds me of Plum Japonais by Tom Ford...I need to do a a side-by-side comparison of the two, but definitely similar vibes. The performance on this is great- the sillage was moderate and this lasted on me all day. I will say that on me Wood Jasmin is rather linear meaning that it does not transition much from the opening to the dry down- however, I don’t consider that a negative thing.

Immediate opening of boozy plum has a mulled wine feel but that is fleeting. Slightly sweet (very slight) pear takes over fairly fast, and lifts/lightens the fragrance, jasmine moves in quick too, contributing to that. The jasmine is soft, as real jasmine is. Identifiable plum mostly disappears but an underlying jamminess lingers. A touch of rose transitions to dry down, which is woody, slight medicinal tinge, and traces of vanilla. A complex, refined fragrance. Intimate. Close but rich. Cooler weather for sure. Totally unisex, for the person with the presence to wear it. Sophistication, whether that's jeans, cashmere, and Frye boots, or black tie. An intentional fragrance, for those you let close to you. Membership has its privileges, and all that.

Whiskey Barrel and Cherry Liqueur I got a discovery kit from BDK and tried all of their fragrances. I was very disappointed with all of them, exept Wood Jasmin (WJ). To me WJ is a very opulent fragrance which opens with a strong boozey cherry note, like liqueur (I can't describe it any other way). After ca. 30 minutes the cherry note fades into the background but the boozey note remains dominant. Its like you walked down into a whiskey cellar and would smell the empty whiskey barrels. After 1 hour patchouli and vanilla take over and it turns (for me) into a gourmand fragrance. I loved it. P.S. liek those before me, I didn't sense any jasmine either

This was a grower, not a shower for me. I didn't like it at first. It came over all resins and woods with not much else. I washed it off. I came back to it after a month or so and sniffed the sample and it was soft and delicious. Wow, I didn't get that when I rushed to scrub it off. I gave it another try today and to my surprise, it was resiny yes, but that died off after 20 mins and I had that delicious warm and spicy gourmand smelling charmer. I will get a FB. I might even layer this over Rouge Smoking for a real powerhouse.

No one ever talks about this beauty, I really like it and perfect for the winter and holiday season! This one on me turns into a woody floral. I do get the plum (which is a favorite note) and soon as it dries down Peru balsam and incense, artemisia and off course vanilla and patchouli. Since it’s such a woody fragrance and has heavy notes it does last all day on me. I never wear this in the summer this is only a cool weather scent. Unisex for sure. IMHO it’s a winner! 10/10 recommended!

Since it’s Christmas, I’ve decided to wear this today! It’s a woody floral on me! I have always loved this one from BDK and I have many from them one of my favorite houses. This is dark and unisex for sure, I get plum incense and pear all together on me. I did spray Angels Share on top of it so it sweeten it a bit. I would call this my signature scent. I wear quite a lot in the colder months! Is this a favorite for everyone not quite sure but it is one of mine. Highly recommended 10/10!

Plum and pear in the opening, very fruity, almost sweet and alcoholic but not in disgusting way. Then comes a sophisticated jasmine, not opulent but mastered. A bit smoky with the incense notes and round with the vanilla. This is a beautiful fruity scent. The opening is more feminine but the drydown seems more masculine and woody to my nose. 💜 Unisex ❄️Cold Seasons 📌 Personal Note: 9 / 10

After first spray this reminded me of the chocolate Mon Cherie and a bit of Lost Cherry by Tom Ford. Very boozy especially in the opening, I love it :) This would be great for fall and winter. I got a sample and I will continue to try it out, but Im pretty sure I will get a full bottle of this :) Perfectly unisex.

An imaginative, artistic, royal perfume... it almost seems to live a fantastic story! My favorite part is the drydown where I feel a beautiful and dreamy jasmine. A perfume with a French imprint... brilliant! Very beautiful! Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 8./10 Scent: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

I don’t understand the reasoning behind this fragrance’s name as all I get is boozy plum. Gorgeous, but perhaps not terribly unique and the performance is unfortunate. Stays on clothes for a while, but doesn’t project on me at all after the initial spray.

It smells like an apple pie had a child with an alcohol-infused vanilla bean.

Wood Jasmin is bolder and less simplistic than its name suggests. Where I expected a straightforward woody-jasmine scent, hoping that it wouldn't be synthetic in the manner of Mugler Alien, it is in fact a bold, boozy, balsamic fruity-amber-floral with a tropical edge. It isn't a safe blind buy - it has the potential to smell rancid on some people, and its strong, heady sweetness is quite intense regardless. WJ opens with a bold, syrupy plum note, ripe and sweet, giving a boozy quality to the opening and paving the way to the balsamic amber base. Some pear adds sweetness, but the plum has the, well, plum part here. The jasmine quickly follows, lush and sweet, and it feels quite tropical here, perhaps due to the fruity sweetness and the vanilla in the base. There is some bitter greenness in there, but it is subtle. Overall. WJ isn't as woody as its name suggests. The balsamic amber base steadily develops in the background, bolstered by liberal amounts of sweet vanillin. I get some patchouli, adding an earthy counterpoint to the sweetness in the later stages, a development of the earlier herbal undertone. Some powdery rose is evident during the drydown, but the waxy jasmine is king here. It fades to a sweetly musky skin scent with increasingly powdery vanilla remaining until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting - a little goes a long way, as befits its scent profile. It is feminine-leaning in my opinion, given the sweet, tropical florals that form the backbone of this scent. It is best worn in cold weather, given its strength and amber base, although I usually tend to associate tropical florals with beachy summertime scents. Pretty decent, if not something I'd choose personally. 3.5/5.

On the opening this has a powerful and gorgeous bright quality to it which after reading the notes listed could be the pear top note. After a few minutes this scent became quite familiar to me and it took a few more minutes to work out what it was reminding me of: Tom Ford’s Tobacco Oud. They share the same overpoweringly masculine woody note. However, whereas Tobacco Oud balances this note with the sweetness of a liqueur note, Wood Jasmine does so with the delicate quality of a white floral note. After about 20 minutes, Wood Jasmine starts to take its own unique direction, the wood and the jasmine playing off each other like a delicious duet. This one will need a few more wearings, but first impressions are very positive.

I adore plum in fragrance and I'm very sensitive to and suspicious of jasmine. The good news for me is that yes, the jammy plum is there. Also good news, the jasmine is not overbearing or overly indolic. I smell zero dirtiness and certainly no urine as was noted by more than one reviewer. I smell a lot of benzoin, powder, a bit of vanilla and a touch of sweet tobacco. I wish I could detect more of the interesting notes such as the incense and patchouli which should have been amped up to create a strong third direction. So in the end, what do we have here? A pleasant non complex fragrance that should offend no one but fails in its handling of the synthetics. What would make this better? black pepper, patchouli and incense.

This is utterly delectable. I wore this on a hot day and although the sillage was modest, it caressed me within my own scent bubble! It’s sweet, spicy with a plum compote and vanilla combination. It reminds me of Tom Ford’s Amber Absolute and a little of Ambre Narguiles (Hermes). But although they are beautiful amber perfumes, I like this one the best because of it’s addictive plum note. This perfume is probably best suited for the Autumn and Winter months but I couldn’t resist wearing it on a hot Summer’s day and I’m so glad I did - it puts a smile on your face and sometimes a perfume is enjoyable when it’s a more simple type of mood lifter and not too complex and difficult to understand 🥰.

As others have mentioned "Wood Jasmin" is kind of an odd name for this fruity/plummy amber. It opens with a liqueur like, apple-cinnamon amber accord that brings to mind both Ambre Narguile + Ambre Russe (not a bad thing)! Of the florals in the abstract heart of this scent, I suppose a slightly indolic jasmine is the one flower that stands out above any others. It gains a certain dryness in its final stages, which is pleasant. It has all the trappings of a heavy-weight amber, but it never feels all consuming or overwhelming--it ends up a well-balanced entry into the genre, though somewhat redundant as the aforementioned scents have covered the necessary territory suitably.

Not sure how to feel about this one - upon first application, the incense and patchouli come off quite strong. However, even after wearing to bed, the scent becomes quite intoxicating - very warm and comforting. Reminds me of visiting your grandma who cooks a lot, and she was a hardcore it girl back in the day. If you like stronger smelling patchouli or amber scents, I think this will hit the mark. Will continue wearing occasionally to further develop an opinion, but probably not a safe blind buy if you aren’t already aware of what you like. Very subtle jasmine notes.

"Amber Plum" might be a better name than "Wood Jasmin" here. I get stewed plum in an amber cloud, with honestly only a touch of indolic jasmine. This is BDK so the strength and longevity are off the charts. Just a small dab from my sample vial is more than enough for me! The house's "more is more" approach is a bit much for me, but I'm finding with extremely cautious application, there is a pleasant, warm, roundness across their line. This may be worth a look for you if you enjoy classic fruity ambers like Dior Poison.

This is a very woody, boozy scent—almost like leaving your rum in a wooden casket, with plums thrown in. I don’t really get a lot of jasmine. It’s resinous, deep, and dark—definitely an evening fragrance, perfect for winter and unisex. Not bad at all, but probably not top-tier or one of the best scents ever. Fortunately, it doesn’t have those aroma chemicals that BDK is sometimes known for sneaking into their perfumes—like ambroxan and similar beasts—even though they don’t list them as notes.

I really really liked this one and Nuit de sable. It is very unusual for me as I tend to hate heavy smells but these two are just so comforting and not overwhelming at all on my skin. Wood jasmine is like a mystical night, the notes of jasmine, pear and vanilla are beautiful, sweet and gourmand like. Would be good for autumn and winter, I see it mostly as a night fragrance but could be worn in the day and it would feel like being hugged by a nice, warm scarf.

Surprised by the terrible reviews, since Wood Jasmin dried down and performed quite well on me. The opening is semi-liquor, but it smoothly supports the white fruit and flowers as intended. Patchouli and vanilla in the drydown feel like a natural and pleasant extension of the experience. There is always a skin chemistry element to perfume, this time seemingly in my favour. Not very long-lasting, but certainly a sample I will repeat.

The dry down of this fragrance is so so good. A very luxurious smelling sweet amber with very light floral and incense note. However, the opening is so overpowering with the incense and a little too smoky. The opening ruined it for me and I tried really hard to like it but just couldn't. For me, the first hour or two is not wearable because of the overpowering incense. If they could tone it down, it would have been perfect for me.

starts with a woody plum and peru balsam along with labdanum. something is a bit animalic here. it smells like an old wooden box along with boozy plum. this is one that smells better wafting from afar as opposed to close up. essentially it's a woody plum. i don't get the name at all, as i get no jasmine here. still, it's nice in cold weather. (i imagine this would be Too Much in warm weather.)

Very plummy booze with benzoin and tobacco on the side. What a delight! Didn’t notice the woody, jasmine, nor vanilla notes though. Edit. Reduced to ‘like’ because the good part only lasted about half an hour then it became skin scent that sort of linger in and out of periphery for additional six hrs. Unfortunately that the useable silage lasted only so short a period.

Wow, the opening is boozy! I get wine and plum, some incence. Thank goodness the patchouli is only hinted in the base notes. I'm in my mid-30s and I feel this is a tad too mature for me. I would see a person in their 50s or 60s wearing this beautifully. I think this would suit all genders.

Holy cow! Who spilled the spiced plum brandy? I was immediately hit with an intensely alcoholic fumes. The more I sniffed, there was a very strong and spicy cinnamon note in the background. Between the booze and the cinnamon, I can’t detect anything like jasmine.

I got it in December and i was not a fun. Now in the spring, it smells soo much better on me! I recommend to give it a go spring/fall.

Where the jasmine at?? Way too much plum. So deep and dark. Cannot bring myself to even tolerate it.

WOOD JASMIN - is an old-school revival fragrance, with modern ingredients and a vintage composition. It immediately brought to mind the intricately designed glass perfume vials that I used to open secretly and with an almost sacred attentiveness at my grandmother's house. The name is a bit misleading, as woods and jasmine have a negligible presence in the composition, except for a kind of overall emulation. The dominant note is undoubtedly plum, with a warm sweetness that accompanies balsamic resins, davana, and a patchouli made bitter by artemisia. The result is dark and somewhat dirty, but always within the refined limits of BDK. It's not a gourmand fragrance, and it doesn't radiate youthfulness, in fact, I would say it's almost dusty and melancholic. Whether this is a virtue or a flaw is for you to determine.

Boozy plummy Slivovitz opening. Quite loud, not dissimilar to some of Tom Ford's perfumes. Calms down in seconds, transforms into gentle but generic amber and jasmine....although I like the whiffs of plum and pear that appear repeatedly here and there. Musky finish. Unisex, maybe slightly masculine. It's not unpleasant but the composition somehow doesn't make sense to me and I also don't see any connection to the name Wood Jasmin.

I detect absolutely no plum in here, which is a shame because every fragrance I have with a PLUM in it, I adore. It's the first BDK for me that's just a meh. Vanillic jasmine is all I get. If you're into that sort of thing - try it out, it's pretty safe. I dislike the opening, but I do like the drydown, although it's nothing spectacular or unique. To me it just lacks any character. Spring & Fall, day & night.

This smells very gross like rotten fruits macerating in liquor. I pick up a brown pear note in this fragrance that is very prominent in the opening and it smells rotten same as the plum note. This fragrance is very feminine leaning and has smokiness and it smells dated. Ladies I would stay away from this there are better offerings from the house of BDK.

This name is incredibly misleading. I detect no jasmine, not woods. This is a boozy plum scent which gives quite a medicinal cherry throat lozenge feel. This is pleasant for the cold months, I don’t understand the hate and I’m perplexed by the name as I barely pick up any white floral notes. This is unisex and has good performance.

LOL this does not smell like plum japonais in the slightest. I guess some people are seeing the note plum in both and assuming they are alike? This is a syrupy, very sweet plum, while PJ is spicy and boozy. This is a bit too sweet for my taste but it's a pretty solid deep, dark, plum frag.

Better than I expected. Given the name, I expected a woody jasmine but get a slightly sweetened balsam. Pleasant but not a love.

To me this smells like biting into an old liquor candy. It does mellow out to a more floral side a bit, after some time.

Opening reminds me of those alcohol filled chocolates. After drying down some it’s a soft woody amber. It reminds me of Velvet Tonka with how soft, warm, and sweet it is. Like others, I see booze and incense, maybe plum. I can’t find jasmine, however, which I don’t mind. After drying down for some time, a Clorox cleaner vibe starts to peek through. It’s that stinky, slightly animalic scent at the end of a sniff. Balsamic, ambery plum just isn’t for me. It turns very sour after wearing for a bit. It’s really headed for the worse. I really seem to despise plum. Pass.

As much as I typically love BDK, this was a hard pass. The opening is harsh. Masculine. Dated. It reminds me of a body powder your great aunt would douse herself in to cover up the fact that she hadn't showered in a week. The plum tries desperately to stay on top but is drowned out by the incense, amber and patchouli. It reminds me a bit of Narciso Rodriguez Musc Noir Rose if you layered it with early 2000's YSL original Opium. I get no jasmine from this at all. The drydown softens to a bit of a powdery take on all those same notes.

Agree with other reviewers that the name is a misleading. There is a little jasmine in the opening but it leads with a dense and dominant plum. It's very dark (a little too dark for me) and twisty, this is how I imagine Morticia Addams smells! The dry down is a little more delicate, to a powdery vanilla-jasmine scent. A little too vintage/mature for my taste. If you like fragrances like Knowing and Youth Dew this one might tickle your fancy.

I definitely get the plum in the opening. The amber and other resin-like notes quickly take over though. I don't get much florals at all- the incense and resins overpowers the rest of the notes on my skin. I can sense the boozy quality others mention as well. It's definitely unisex- could see this as a evening scent in the colder months maybe? It's not my style of scent though by any means.

First seconds are alcoholic-boozy, then dry dirty jasmin, a bit funky. A few minutes later it settles down to generic cinnamon-honey-tobacco with a hint of jasmin. My girlfriend smelled the sillage and asked if it's Tobacco Oud by Tom Ford. She's right, it smells very similar to Tobacco Oud past the opening phase. I'm glad i only got a sample. Try before you buy.

Headache inducing no matter how many chances I give it. It's very heavy, balsamic plum that has a honey-like sweetness. It smells like dated syrup with jasmin. Like a jasmin jam from france with plum that was made in the 90s and you opened it today out of your grandma's cabinet.

Whoaaah! I couldn't get past the strong booze, it just hit me to the point I couldn't smell anything else after. I have several from BDK, so I'm a big fan of the house, but this is not the woody jasmine I was expecting. Not for me, but I can appreciate the idea behind it.

I get two stages; 1. An intensive amber stage - the plum is obvious, very sweet and syrupy. 2. Vanillic jasmine I like stage 2, I dislike stage 1. Unfortunately the amber in the opening is incredibly strong and too common and I'm not patient.

It is very balsamic and heavy with surprisingly a lot of sweetness. The jasmine is obvious, it smells floral and a bit dated but in a good way. It is reminiscent of older perfumes.
