Caramel Overdose

This is a dupe for Love By Kilian. I would say it is 95-96% similar. It isn't caramel per se. It has that same cooked sugary sweetness, orange blossom, vanilla, creamy. Lasts long too. Love is better made, more refined, and I can smell the individual notes a bit better, they sort or float apart, and has more strength as in sillage. Caramel Overdose is more pressed together, doesn't project as much, but does last. Don't get me wrong -- they are VERY. VERY. SIMILAR. I do quite like this!! ps. If you buy Caramel Overdose - let it sit a few months and macerate. Best dupe of Love out there. Perfumer of BeLayered, Hanny, says it is not a dupe (I emailed him). Maybe he didn't intentionally create a dupe -- but he did. I have owned Love By Kilian since 2014 and have 3 bottles. (newer Love by Kilian is a bit lighter -- and also needs to sit a good 6 months to darken and macerate and smell more like the true original formula of Love by Kilian). Caramel Overdose is being made quickly and not given enough time to macerate. After it sits -- it smells WAY better, and quite similar to original Love By Kilian.

08/2021 Update: So I've had this for a few weeks now and its even better wow... Many of the people in the Be layered FB group said to let it sit and marinate .. and the longer it sits the better the fragrance becomes ! The grape candy note is more mellow, the orange, caramel and marshmallow smell even more amazing and amber like notes are now appearing in the dry down making this smell even sexier and lasting power is excellent.... I will let it sit till the fall and give a new update ! Some of these comments. Whew fragrantica... so extra 🙄🤣 Be layered made an excellent dupe for LDBS. On the first spray and first few minutes I was doubtful, way too much grape candy to my nose .....but I gave it a chance and it didn't disappoint! Its delicious For 33$ it is a bargain, if you're looking to save coins, its the next best thing! It is sold out often on the be layered website FYI.

I understand why some people don't think this smells like caramel...however it actually DOES smell like a very specific caramel candy. If you've ever tried those individually wrapped Brach's Milk Maid Caramels, this is a dead ringer. They are sweet and smell like they have just a touch of orange blossom water so they're slightly floral. This is the caramel candy we used to melt down and cover apples in around Halloween time when I was a kid. Caramel Overdose also really does smell 90% like Love Don't be Shy (I don't own a bottle, though I do have a sample), and since I already own Caramel Overdose, I'm thinking I can skip the price of the Kilian. Also, to be even more descriptive, this smells like hot caramel sauce drizzled over marshmallows and orange blossom. Add Estate Vanilla (Solstice Scents) + Coco a la Vaniglia (Kyse) and it is heaven!

I didn’t love this at first, I shelved it for months after buying, particularly because of all the hype I think. So much hype that this ~$30 US bottle sells out often (albeit briefly) so people resell it for an ungodly markup. Didn’t expect to grow to like it as the weather warmed, in spite of the hype. So much more complex than just one note of caramel, it’s notable fresh orange blossoms, vanilla and cotton candy or marshmallow maybe, something pillowy sweet.A very pretty and mood-boosting fragrance, and people compliment it any time I wear it. It’s nice for the price with excellent longevity on my skin, around 10 hours. When compared to Killian’s Love I personally couldn’t tell them apart.

I am obsessed with this right now! I bought it probably three years ago and had never smelled LDBS. I was in a collecting frenzy at the time so I didn't really get to this one. Now the juice is the most beautiful dark, orangey, even pinkish-reddish brown—it's a luscious color. And the smell! It's intoxicating! I don't smell caramel though, it's just sweet mixed with orange blossom but the orange blossom is abstracted. I LOVE this and I love a lot of difficult scents as well—al Khatt, Malesia, Le Lion, Raw Gold, DEv 2 by Olympic Orchids, Tropic of Capricorn, Mukhallat Shems, Oudmazing, Oud Palao, Fétiche la Rose and many more. But this one scratches the itch to just smell irresistible.

This absolutely works for me! I have a sample vial of LDBS that is a deep orange red and the original formula. I’m saving those precious drops for if and when I really need them. I sprayed this and got the same instant mood elevation. Beautiful, airy, sweet and long lasting. Love it. ETA I spared a tiny spritz of LDBS for comparison’s sake and it’s reeealllly close. There’s a slight variance and complexity of course but not enough for me to care.

For an unbelievably affordable price, you can have a perfect dupe of LDBS. At first I somewhat wanted LDBS Extreme, but I realized rose and orange blossom are clashing notes and it's not worth it. You can probably layer a single note rose over LDBS or Caramel Overdose if you want LDBS Extreme. The fragrance lasts longer than LDBS (which I have a decant of) by the way. This price is a steal and the fragrance is just SO BEAUTIFUL.

THIS IS AMAZING! I have 5 full size scents from be layered and this is hands down the absolute best. smells so good its sweet but it has a bit of character too. its not just a sweet bomb like pink sugar. Definitely nothing like Gold couture. I have not had a chance to try LDBS but definitely will be now. love it so much.

I absolutely adore this! To my nose it is a 99% dupe for LDBS. The main difference I’ve noticed is the longevity. This lasts 8-10 hours on my skin and LDBS lasts 24 hours. I wear this as an everyday scent while I save the more expensive juice for special occasions or when I want to feel bougie.

I love how this smells! It’s absolutely beautiful! 😍 However, it has no lasting power and no projection. You need a minimum of 20 sprays to even be able to smell yourself for a couple of hours. BUT it smells so damn good that I have two back up bottles so I can overspray my heart out. 😜

To me this smells like warmed up caramel with additional aroma chemicals added to it. I get the slight cola thing that has been mentioned along with a citrus. It is potent off my skin. Not sure what I would layer this with. A try before you buy.

Definitely a dupe for Love Don't Be Shy. Like 95%! Can't even imagine Caramel anything bc it's literally the same as LDBS. Don't get me wrong...I love it!!!

I do really like this fragrance as I find something cozy and comforting about it, but I was disappointed at first sniff as I don't find the name to be very fitting based on my experience. I get 0 caramel from this fragrance despite the name, lol. Similar to the review below, this has a bubblegum scent on my skin. Bubblegum and marshmallows with what seems to be a prominent orange blossom note. I also get the coca-cola scent as well but it smells like a coca-cola on the verge of losing its carbonation to me, lol. The coke scent is in the background and kind of adds a slight fizziness to the fragrance to my nose. So overall, it smells sweet but still fresh from the (possible) orange blossom, a bit powdery, and slightly effervescent. I think this fragrance should be renamed, and Be Layered should try again at creating a scent that invokes the scent of an actual caramel overdose (I was looking forward to it :( ). With that being said, I finished my sample & purchased a bottle since I like the fragrance. I've been eyeing Love by Kilian so it's interesting to see that this is a possible dupe. Edit: so, out of curiosity, I purchased a sample of Love by Kilian, and Caramel Overdose is definitely a dupe for it! It’s a bit less refined than Love, maybe a bit less sweet as well, but the similarities are undeniable! I will say that they smell different on the skin if you were to sniff the areas you sprayed directly (the Kilian is a bit sweeter, more fluffy & marshmallow heavy; Caramel Overdose smells almost identical to the scent it projects), but the projections are almost identical.

Firstly, I feel that to be able to understand and appreciate this scent, it should be noted that it is really not meant to be worn alone. This one is literally to be "Layered". This ALONE is definitely an overdose. •The caramel here is not sweet for one. •The orange blossom isn't ripe, and •The honeysuckle is heavy and sticky. All in all these notes are suffocating, even nauseating. ...It has a creamy and hard to breathe oily sunblock location vibe to it that again if worn alone, it's just a synthetic hot mess. ... However... ☆☆☆ If understood that this is to be used as a base to a Caramel/Vanilla sweet gourmand perfume, Oh mon dio! This is the salt to any sweet batter ♡ If you know anything about baking, you already know that a pinch of salt as odd as it may sound and/or taste (on its own - yuck), you know that pinch of salt will take your sweet pastries, to an even sweeter and decadent level when baked. You get it now? :D Okay, but be warned: This is a persistent, clingy commitment kind of combo. I applied this as my base, then applied a favorite gourmand Parfum over it. Boy; over 24hrs, and a shower later, my perfume is still very present. It's eternal on clothes. Hope this perspective helps ^__^

This one needs to age a bit if purchased new. I was sent a sample along with my new bottle. The sample juice is darker in color and definitely more developed, deep, sweet and complex in scent than the new bottle. So, I'm wearing the clearly aged sample, which I truly love - it is soooo soft, cozy and sweetly delicious to me, and letting the new bottle rest and age until it looks and smells the same. I get no bubblegum or grapey notes myself. Let it age! On me (an over sprayer) it lasts a long time and, as reported by my SO, has strong sillage. When I told him it was a dupe of Love Don't Be Shy, he said, 'It's definitely not shy!'. Update: my 9 year old nephew hugged me this evening, backed up and said 'You smell good'. It's a win! Update: I am now wearing LDBS and CO side by side. CO is very close. I'd say LDBS is a bit softer and the neroli in CO is a bit stronger (slightly more leaning toward Oriana, but not quite to dryer sheets). CO is stronger/bigger sillage, for sure. LDBS a bit more refined. I'm not sure anyone could tell the difference in the air.

I have Caramel Overdose on one arm and Love don't be shy on the other right now to do the ultimate test. Before I'd smelled either of these, I didn't understand how a single note caramel could possibly smell like LDBS which has a bunch of different notes. When I tested LDBS I realized that it's because LDBS only smells like caramel in reality, it's not as complex as it's made out to be. They're not exactly the same, but the difference is so, so subtle. LDBS is a tiny bit more floral. That's all I can really say for sure. They seem similar in performance. What's funny is that I'd decided I didn't want my Caramel Overdose sample and put it with others I intended to give away. I thought it was too sugary and cloying and boring for me. Then, when I tested LDBS and realized how similar they were, I suddenly liked Caramel Overdose because it's a way to get something extremely expensive for cheap, and I guess I value that in and of itself. Also I think I was turned off by the name. It's funny how those things can influence our opinions.

So this reaches for Kilian Love, but doesn't quite get there. I have Kilian Love original red juice, an aged Caramel Overdose decant, and also (two) new Caramel Overdose bottles: Aged decant - close but not quite. Definitely has the orange bubblegum vibe, but is not as floral as LDBS, and definitely not as complex or long lasting. The decant is quite linear and lasts about 4 hours (LDBS will go 7 or so.) New bottle - ballpark but almost a flanker, not a dupe. Without the aging, there is a very strong minty top. I've seen other reviews mention grape candy, and it may be the same thing we are smelling. An extra something that makes it a true departure from LDBS. The drydown is more like the aged decant, a linear orange bubblegum. Lasts about 2 hours. If you want a perfect dupe, this isn't it. You need to age it and then there are still shortcomings in complexity and longevity. But hey, it's a fraction of the price.

I was accidentally given this sample when I ordered from Be Layered. I was kind of upset because so far I’ve disliked every fragrance that has caramel listed as a note. This was before I even knew that the note of caramel is what I disliked. I still decided to try it out. Omg, this doesn’t smell like typical caramel. It’s sweet and thick, but fluffy. I guess I can smell something akin to marshmallow maybe, but I like it. In fact, it’s the only sample I liked out of the 7 plus 1 freebie samples I tried. I can understand the reference to bubble gum even though it lacks the minty and powderiness of the bubble gum smell. I also get how people say Coca-Cola. It would be flat Coca-Cola and the liquids evaporated leaving mostly syrup. I’ve never tried Love Don’t Be Shy. So I can’t compare. Like the reviewer below me, I feel this smells nothing like Gold Couture. I’m happy about that. I dislike Gold Couture.

The review below mine is spot on. It reaches for it, but something is missing. After spraying this on one arm and the original on the other, and sniffing repeatedly (this must look crazy 😜), I think what’s missing in CO is the freshness of the original. I will likely try other dupes, but this one is just close enough (for now) to keep me from spending $250 on 50 ml. Edit: I decided there is a sharpness to this that I don’t like, so I’m just going to stick with the original. I’m starting to believe that this kind of perfection can’t be duplicated. I found the original LDBS in a 50 mL “refill” bottle on Neiman Marcus that sells for $195. If you search promo codes, you'll find a 15% off when you sign up for NM emails which brings it down to $165! After tax I paid $181 which is cheaper than anything on eBay. It’s not a steal, but it’s a deal. 😉

I'm probably the only weirdo that blind bought this without ever smelling Killian Love Don't Be Shy. I love sweet, feminine perfumes, so I figured there's no way this wouldn't work for me. Well.. it's nice, but don't love it. For me this is white flowers soaked in grape soda. I also get a syrupy-sweet lemon note in the opening. That purple/grapey sweet note is very central throughout - not like real juicy grapes, but like that artificial "purple" smell from grape-flavoured candy. Luckily I enjoy that smell so it's okay for me. Something kind of strange is that it smells different (better!) once you spray it compared to how it smells when you just sniff it from the bottle. It's a little weird from the bottle. I certainly don't hate this fragrance, it's super sweet and very pleasant, but I could easily live without it.

This isn't my favorite perfume by any means (I don't regularly wear sweet/gourmand frags) but I'm thinking the folks getting "old lady" musty vibes/not much other than alcohol need to let their bottles sit. These AFAIK are made not long before they're shipped out. Granted, my bottle is from 2019, but people were complaining about this exact same issue even back then. I've never had LDBS to compare it to, but Caramel Overdose is a burnt caramel syrup with a hint of vanilla and musk to my nose. Think creme brulee. Honestly very pleasant despite it not being my thing. I occasionally reach for it in the fall and winter when I want something sweet and crowd pleasing. It's got some good sillage and longevity, so I either spray once across my chest or once on each shoulder. More than 2 sprays is excessive.

A simple, wearable scent for any time of day. I haven’t ever smelled Love, Dont Be Shy, but the notes of that and the descriptions of marshmallow drew me to Caramel Overdose. On my skin, I first get pure orange blossom surrounded by a hint of jasmine and honeysuckle, which is rounded out by the warmth of the caramel, giving it an addicting quality—it smells very indulgent. It then dries down to a soft vanilla marshmallow, with the caramel again giving it that extra warmth. I like to wear this scent around the house, doing errands, or of course layered with other scents, especially those with orange blossom and caramel notes.

This is a dupe of Love don't be shy by Kilian, I have them both on my hand and the difference is very very small. It is 95% similar. Belayered is just a little bit much softer and fluffier compared to LDBS, however a normal nose can not even detect the dissimilarity. I purchase belayered Caramel Overdose without knowing that it was a dupe. Infact I coudnt detect the songle note caramel in this perfume at all. It is marshmellow with a bit of orange/citrus note. I like it, it is sweet, but the type of perfumes I love are the sweet and woody ones (with some depth and sexyness).

If you’re looking for a pretty, doll head, soft orange blossom, this is it. If you are looking for a caramel scent- this is absolutely not it. I get 0 caramel from this at all. Bizarre name choice. Definitely a decent dupe for LDBS. I actually find it to have a bit more sillage than LDBS, but find CO to be ever so slightly more soapy and a bit sharper. LDBS is a bit mellower and more marshmallowy which I prefer. If you’re on a budget CO is a great option to see if this is a scent profile you like before investing in LDBS.

I thought this would be more deep, heavy caramel but it’s actually light. Not sweet enough for me, but I tired this today with my Be Layered Norma Jean sample, together it was perfection! I ordered a big bottle of Norma Jean, it’s new & not in Fragrantica’s database right now. Anyways, Caramel Overdose works best when layering, not anything special on it’s own, but layered with others it’s amazing!

Bubblegum! Didn't smell the way I expected it to, but I enjoy it a lot. Bubblegum cola. My little boy said it smelled like medicine (ha). I know many people say about Love by Kilian as well, though I've never smelled that scent.

I’m going to be completely honest. I hated this fragrance. I get the caramel note but there’s this sickly almost grape note that just totally makes me hate this fragrance. I’ve owned Love Don’t Be Shy by Killian and while I will admit it’s very spot on to the original, I am able to wear Love Don’t Be Shy. Caramel Overdose is not your classic caramel note it’s almost like a spoiled caramel. However, I will say for the price it’s lasting power is awesome. This fragrance stayed on me for about 7 hours before becoming a skin scent, which for $48 shipping included is pretty darn good. I also understand the hype around this fragrance as it is a fraction of the cost and smells close to Love Don’t Be Shy. There’s just one note that I can’t pinpoint, that made me return this fragrance. Maybe my nose is broken or I’m just to accustomed to Love Don’t Be Shy. I wanted to love this fragrance but I just don’t. The annoying thing too is there’s a fat waiting list where you wait for about a month to even be able to purchase it. Once you do, it’s sold out the next day. I would advise anyone to purchase their sample first before buying a whole bottle.

I used to love this, but idk what happened. The fragrance has changed for me, and I now notice a strong powdery/musky base that has crept up from underneath the actual LDBS DNA. Maybe I let the bottle macerate for too long (about a year, sitting in a dark closet)? I'm not sure if that's what happened, or if I just never noticed these odd notes before. Some ppl below mentioned smelling soapy sharpness & baby wipes in their bottles, and that is pretty accurate. I've also noticed this same scent profile in some of BeLayered's other perfumes, so I hope it's not due to cross contamination during bottling. If it wasn't for this odd addition, the perfume would be a beautiful clone of LDBS. But as of now, I'm upset it ruined Caramel Overdose for me, and I will be rehoming my stash.

Orange blossom syrup and sticky marshmellow, no caramel here. Lacks the complexity and refinement of Kilian's LoveDBS but that is expected. The orange blossom here in CaramelOD is thick and heavy while LoveDBS has a fresher, more airy orange blossom note that provides depth and contrast to the gourmand elements. This one also does not work well for my layering taste as it's too floral but I feel like it really needs layered with something as it's sickeningly sweet and somehow also bland when worn solo. I don't layer LoveDBS because it's balanced enough to stand tall all alone.

All I'm getting from this is bubblegum ice cream. Not what I expected from a caramel single note.

I bought this because I wanted to see what the rave was about with Rihanna lol. I also bought this bc I wanted a sweet caramel scent....this was absolutely not that. I didn't get any caramel and I actually have no clue what to compare it to besides "old lady". I gave it to my mom and she loves it and I actually like the smell on her even though it still doesn't smell like caramel. It's slightly pleasant sweetness when my mom wears it but then has notes behind it that I can't really identify. Overall, out of the bottle and on me it's just an absolute no I would not purchase again or recommend for a sweet caramel scent. It's super strong too.

This is NOT caramel. It’s powdery, overly sweet orange blossom. This is a floral, not a gourmand. As a floral it’s fine, it’s pretty. As a gourmand pretending to be caramel this is a failure. I tried 7 of their scents and with the exception of the pineapple one they were all misnamed and had inaccurate descriptions. It’s fine to wax lyrical about your scents as long as your accurate and on point. I was really annoyed to get an orange blossom perfume when I asked for a caramel one

I ordered several fragrances from Be Layered and I'm spraying and reviewing as I go....Vanilla Dreams was a cheap/synthetic/plastic smell, and now Caramel Overdose is also smelling very similar....literally like a note off. These are really bad. Like....wow...serious waste of money. I keep smelling the paper strip and cannot get over how bad the caramel overdose smells....like mark completely missed.

I have had a travel size of this for about a year now and as hard as I try I just do not get caramel from this at all. To me is it a plasticy/nylon type of smell. Very synthetic and unpleasant.

Smells very bubble gummy in my opinion. My husband thought it smelled exactly like a grape scented marker. Do not expect this to smell like the caramel note in juicy couture gold.

This is soooo bad . Dusty musk and amber Smells like baby wipes that has alcohol. So cheap smell .There is no caramel at all . Waste of money

While this may be a dupe for another higher end niche fragrance, it is most definitely NOT a caramel overdose. This is more like taking a cola soda and boiling it down to a syrup. It may be gourmand, but it was not how I would interpret caramel. Gave it away.

This is slightly reminiscent of Love by Killian. The complexity of LDBS is definitely not found in this bottle this is definitely a very linear scent while LBDS has so many facets to it that some sniffs give me orange creamsicle, another would give me the sticky sweetness of the fragrances caramel and sugar, another sniff is get a cola type smell, sweet tarts etc etc. Orange blossom, neroli, sugar, caramel, white florals they all come out to play. Caramel overdose is a orange blossom and sweet fragrance that stays that way definitely doesn’t take you on a journey. I feel like LBDS is so sweet that it’s too much at times while this sweetness is definitely bearable. If LBDS was too sickeningly sticky sweet for you then this would be a fantastic option. I layered this one note fragrance with Amalfi Sunray from Zara x Jo Loves which lists bergamot, orange blossom and mandarin orange as the notes and they layered fantastically together. Overall I’m not disappointed with this fragrance.

I honestly hated this scent; it smells too much like chemicals, nothing sweet or caramel-ey about it. Some say it smells like bubblegum, some like cola; I get neither of these. It just smells "off" to me. Ok update: For those of you who (like me) hated this scent, give it about a week before smelling it again. I feel like with all of the Be Layered scents I own (which are First Kiss, First Kiss Exclusive, Geneva Chocolate, Vanilla Dreams, and Caramel Overdose), these get much better after about a week or two of sitting on my dresser. I'm not sure why that is, but these scents need some time to "settle," I guess? I'm not a perfumer, but I do have a nose lol. My (very uneducated) guess is that Be Layered is cranking out these scents to please customers before the scent is "ready." Point being, this smells much better to me after a week of owning it and I'm starting to get that "cola" smell that people keep alluding to.

I've waited a few months for this to go back in stock. Mind you, I've never tried the original kilian as I'm not willing to splurge this much on a perfume, let alone on a blind buy. People seem to really enjoy it, I heard Greta things about it and the notes made it sound heavily. I purchased two bottles and just no. Hated it. Waited for a few months to let it sit and waited for the juice to get darker and let the vanilla develop. Still not my thing. Smells like an old lady perfume on me, nothing caramel-y and sweet about it. Maybe some bubble gum, but something about it felt so outdated, and I didn't understand the hype. Also, lasting power was terrible on me- which is good in my case because I didn't like the smell at all. Swapped one bottle over givenchy's live irresistible delicieuse which I love. Will swap the other one as well. Not for me.

I bought the discovery set and tried this one first. After I sprayed it I thought, this smells familiar to me. Then I realized it smells just like Love Don't Be Shy! I was not looking for a dupe, nor had I heard it was similar, so this shows how much they do smell alike! I put each on opposite arms and they really are very similar! LDBS is a little softer and polished but they are so close. They remind me of an orange cake, very sweet and joyful!

This is a perfect dupe for Kilian’s love don’t be shy. I had love but I decided to sell it because to me over $200 for only a 50mL is way overpriced and there is other niche scents i’d prefer over it. But I missed the scent and got this and boy am I glad! With tax and shipping it’s around $40 for a larger bottle than love and it’s super well worth it. Now I can spray to my hearts content without guilt, thank you layered!!

I recently purchased this and it does smell like Killian Love don't be shy. I have both fragrances and after dry down they smell very similar. When I first sprayed it on there was a scent in there that I didn't like but after it settled down it smelled just like the Killian fragrance. It's a soft sweet powdery scent with a hint of orange creamsicle. It doesn't smell anything like Caramel but it smells really good.

This smells exactly like love dont be shy by killian and its the perfect dupe, lasts longer too. I used to love this one so much but i got tired of the LDBS dna so i hate this one too, as i got older this just became cloying and sickingly sweet. I disagree with the other reviews saying it smells like alcohol or musk, not at all. But then again i let my bottle macerate for months till the color became darker.

After trying and being disappointed with all of the be layered fragrances. This one was by far the best. It doesn't smell fake which is saying something for BeLayered. There are other scents along with the caramel. but they all work together really well. 7/10

Smells nice, doesn't smell like caramel to me..It smells like bubble gum.

It smells like LDBS scented diapers and wet wipes.
