Forbidden Jasmine

Testing my sample, this is a lightly indolic jasmine infused with a sweet lactonic floral. It's as though they took the lactones from Lavandes Trianon and added it to a jasmine extract. It reminds me of another I've smelt before, but for the life of me, I cannot recall. Comfortably arms' length, I'd wear this in warm weather as I genuinely prefer jasmine in warmer weather.

I purchased a sample pack of Be Layered scents. The first time I tried this I fell in love with it. It was an indolic jasmine that smelled very natural, not overwhelming, as if you are smelling the actual flowers. Though I still had a lot of perfume left from the 5ml. sample, I put it on my future To Buy list. The next time I tried it I decided to wear it to work. For the first few hours it smelled beautiful, but as the day went on I started picking up a candy smell. It was only when a coworker said that he smelled bubblegum that I realized what that candy smell was. Either there is bubblegum tuberose in this scent not listed in the notes, or this is how it changed possibly due to my skin chemistry. Whatever the case, it went from a strong like to a hmmm...I'm not so sure about this anymore. I love tuberose, but not the bubblegum type. Hopefully, this was a one-off event. I'll keep trying the sample in different seasons to see if that dry down is replicated. If so, it will come off my list. Though I love the opening and the mid-notes and wish it had stayed that way, the base has left me confused. I'm just not sure about this one yet. One thing I will say in favor of this brand is that silage and longevity are excellent on every scent I've tested so far. They all over-performed and could be smelled clearly from morning right up until I took my shower at night. In that respect you will certainly get your money's worth with this brand. 2/24/23 - Wow, it's been 3 years since the last time I wore this generous sample from BL and I pulled it out tonight out of curiosity and was surprised to find how similar it smells to my ultimate jasmine fragrance, Jasmin de Pays. Of course, the quality isn't as great but if you don't want to spend the money on JdP this would be a good replacement. This is a lot closer to that than it is to Lush Lust, and it doesn't have the excessive baggage of LL, of super heavy indoles, gasoline, and chemical notes.

Straight up indolic (which to me is mothballs) jasmine. I cannot wear this on its own. Thankfully its meant to be layered. Very useful for making scents with similar floral notes even more floral and making them last longer.
