Layered Signature

8/10 This is one of my favorite perfumes and really the only one I like in Layered's line up. I LOVE the balance between sweet and fresh here. It is light yet substantial, so intoxicating. I could wear this all year round. I don't get any blood orange personally, I get sweet magnolia, peach, and jasmine. There is something that gives me a Southern belle vibe, even though that is very much something I am not! Heavenly at first spritz, a very linear stable scent. It's not overly musky at all either. I do find it gets more monotone is longer I wear it however, as the freshness dies down. There are no edges and nothing really unique about this scent, but it just smells GOOD, really good to me. Maybe perfume buffs who are seeking exciting and novel scents wouldn't like this, but as a casual consumer of perfume, I love it very much. It's not huge in terms of sillage or longevity but I kind of prefer that, its subtle. Whenever I wear Layered's dupe of Delina (First Kiss) I end up getting nauseated by the scent and wishing it would go away, because the sillage and longevity on that thing is TOO great. Boyfriend test - he loves this one, he loves sweet perfumes without edges and this is it!

Layered signature is another one of the Layered original fragrances where I feel it is clearly inspired by another fragrance, but still listed as an original. The other one being f@ck me, which most definitely is inspired by Paco Rabanne’s Olympea. In the case of Layered Signature it has to be inspired by Trussadi’s Donna (2011) as they smell near identical. For me it’s not a bad thing since Donna is one of my all time favourite parfums, so I really really love Layered Signature, but the thing is that in my wardrobe it’s kind of redundant since I already have Trussadi’s Donna. I look at this as having a backup of Donna, rather than having a new original scent.

Fresh, floral slightly sweet perfume. Reminds me of something I can’t put my finger on it. But more fresh and sweet than floral. Like a watered down sweet citrus floral perfume.

Much more white floral than fruity. Loads of jasmine, some magnolia.

To be fair, I'm not generally a fan of florals. I'm a gourmand, vanilla, type of gal who enjoys fruit but sweet fruit. That said, I got a sample of this bc it had good reviews. It's not awful but it's too floral for me. I feel like I'm wearing some kind of flowery scented cleaner or soap. Dry down was better than the opening as it softened. So... Softer soap. Haha. Clearly this isn't my style. I'm glad I tried it to understand and confirm my preferences regarding certain notes.

I go between liking and disliking Layered Signature. The most prominent notes on me are a sweet, fresh, almost watery jasmine, screechy freesia, PEZ candy smelling blood orange, and peach. It's an alright combination smelled in the air around you, pleasant in the warmer air, but on my skin, it just smells like a mess. What really put the nail in the coffin for me was the drydown. I thought it might get better on drydown, but the jasmine/freesia just became more on more screechy and synthetic on my skin as the hours went by. Sometimes the peach comes through on my skin, and then I like it more - but there are plenty of peach fragrances to choose from that are pleasing all the way through. Luckily this fragrance is not that tenacious, and probably after about 3-4 hours, I can't smell it strongly anymore. Like I said, it's not bad smelling - when I spray it on, it is a pleasant aroma of fresh florals and powdery-candy fruits, but not anything deserving of the word "signature" - not a signature scent for a brand, or a person. It's such a shame because I had heard really good things about this perfume from Be Layered, and was really excited to try this one.
