Janvier

I received this today from a giveaway today and I'm so very thrilled and grateful! It's definitely rose, and a straight-up, obvious rose...but not nuclear as in Tea Rose or anything. The orange and grape create a really sweet, almost marmalade accord that is wonderfully delicious (I've said it before and I'll say it a thousand times that fake grape makes me feel nauseous, but this does NOT smell synthetic). And I don't know what it is, but I remember Beth talking about how she smelled cupcakes (or something to that effect, forgive me if I'm incorrect), and I do too! It has a slight bakery note, which I know isn't listed but I get it all the same. I don't however, get a typical or generic vanilla. I'm very refreshed by that! I agree that it's easy to get into. It's not challenging and I see it being inoffensive, I feel similarly to Bubbles below. This is something the embodies effortless prettiness, but doesn't feel like a it plays into trends or smells pretentious. It's just very, VERY pretty, as well as subtly alluring and romantic. Overall, a solid 9/10 and a "love" for me. I see this singing a little more in the spring, and indeed it does feel spring-like. I think it dies a little in the winter air, which is my only criticism.

Janvier has swag! Powerful florals, some fruits and a woody drydown, it's a good choice for lovers of intense scents. At opening the rose and fruits dominate, the drydown is powdery cedar. Great performance! And kudos to Be Soliflore for being cruelty free!

Nice and sweet. A tinge of recently picked orange rose, with sweeter notes surrounding the perfume.

This is not a challenging scent, but it is really nice. True—as the reviewer directly below me notes—the fruity opening dissipates quickly. I’m not a super fan of fruity florals so for me it’s a welcome transition. The dry down is not overshadowed by one or two dominant notes. Instead all notes are blended well with a light fresh rose being the most evident and a raspberry stem or leaf singing in the chorus. This stage has zero pulp and zero soap. I think vanilla or honey might be here too, because their is a slight sweet, gourmand effect that remains until the end —about 3 total hours in cold winter weather. Easy to wear, fresh and pretty. Maybe not a a mind blowing masterpiece, but I can only handle so many daring perfumes in my collection. I can wear Janvier when I need easy. Thanks to Fragrantica and Be Soliflore, I will enjoy wearing Janvier in the Spring and Summer months. EDIT: I find that I never want to wear this, please reach out if you’d like to swap for it.

It is a soapy fruity floral but it lacks complexity and is utterly forgettable. I don't mind soapy notes but there is nothing there to balance that tart clean detergent smell. I smell the peony and a bit of generic rose and orange, but most of the fruits are gone after the top notes dry down. It is sweet but not a jammy cupcake or at all gourmand as I hoped. The bottom notes of musk cedar and amber come together reinforcing the "clean" theme further. It reminds me of scented drawer liner, guest soaps, air freshener, shampoo, or any scented product really. If is office safe, and probably better for Spring or Summer. I wouldn't call it a scrubber but I ended up scrubbing it off after a couple of hours anyway. At least it wasn't expensive (25 dollars/2 for 50) but it isn't one of my blind buy success stories either. For 25 dollars there are safer blind buys. I recommend getting a sample of decant before buying.
