It opens bright and refreshing, almost like a floral citrus soda, with the pepper adding a playful, fizzy lift. As it dries down, the scent shifts into something more herbal and green, taking on a soft Oriental feel that somehow mirrors the look and mood of the bottle itself. Throughout, it stays very clean and airy but with subtle dry woody notes in the background, giving it more depth and making it a versatile wear with an interesting Asian-inspired narrative. I own full bottles of this and Santal Trouble, and I have to say I’m genuinely impressed by the quality of Beast Perfumes despite their slightly gimmicky store aesthetics (similar to Tamburins, To Summer) but here, their fragrances actually deliver solid storytelling both in concept and in how they evolve on skin. The perfumery feels like an Asian take on Diptyque with a Creed-like sense of airiness. It’s not something I’d hype endlessly, but it does feel like an important step forward for East Asian perfumery, especially in a region where fragrance culture is still relatively new. If brands like this keep pushing forward, we could eventually see more true niche-adjacent East Asian scents that go beyond being just safe and pleasant, leaning into bolder, more provocative ideas with real character. I’d personally love to see something in the vein of Lorenzo Pazzaglia, Nasomatto, or Francesca Bianchi, but with Chinese-inspired nuances. Anyway, I’m rambling..overall, good stuff.
