Une Balade En Forêt

Very woody with a slightly sweet middle. Possibly the Gentiana? The cashmere wood adds a slightly musky ping at the end. Gentiana is noted as having a distinct dusty, bittersweet scent and flavor which could be described as fresh soil, dandelion, citrus pith, anise, tarragon, and acetone with the earthy mustiness of root herbs. Definitely picking up the earthiness and dusty middle note.

I bought it for £33. for the price is ok, I guess. It really does smell like a walk in the woods. Airy, fir-y and earthy, not too woody. It really conjures an image of a forest. Leaning masculine. This would be lovely as diffuser. I just don't want to smell like a walk in the forest, nor do I want to smell it on anyone around me. It's not offensive, harmless, even, but I don't see the point of it.

Too 'manly' and I like slightly manly scents but this was so strong

I was quite surprised to see Beauty Pie's range added to the Fragrantica database. It's a buyer's club, so you pay a yearly membership fee to be able to access a range of high-quality products at very good prices. I've been a member since 2019 and for me it's worth it. They released their first three fragrances in 2018. They were created by Frank Voelkl and were all excellent. Sadly, my autumn favourite of them, Red Apple, White Peony & Cashmere Wood and the lovely Petals and Heliotrope & Ambrette have been discontinued. The perfectly summery Brazilian Lime, Fig Leaves & Tea is still available, albeit only in a 50ml at a much higher price (in 2019 a 100ml bottle of any of the above was $25, now a 50ml bottle is $34, yes inflation, especially in the beauty market, and especially in the fragrance market, has hit hard). That said, Beauty Pie fragrances are an incredible bargain, even though I noticed when they picked up this one that the bottles no longer have the sleek magnetic cap. But what matters is the juice. The name of this fragrance is apt, it's a classical woody fragrance. I think most people would find it to lean more masculine, and I would tend to agree, realistically I can see men more comfortable wearing it than women. But this is how I would image a dryad or wood nymph would smell. It's quite fresh but there's an really earthiness to it. This isn't something I would reach for often, in the same wheelhouse I prefer Aromatics Elixir or Azuree, but for the price I'm quite happy to have it in my fall wardrobe.

I love the shower gel version of this, which reflects the name perfectly, but the perfume has an unpleasant generic fixative musk that takes over the fresh foresty notes.
