Chai Fleur

True story: I desperately DID NOT need new perfume samples but I was intrigued by the company story and the perfume names and their corresponding notes. (1) *Chai Fleur* with Nutmeg , Cinnamon, Green Cardamom, Lavender, Cistus, Violet, Vanilla Bean, Cypriol, Cedarwood, Sandalwood. (2) *Incense Antique* with Black Pepper, Cardamom, Lemon, Tobacco Leaf, Incense, Patchouli, Cistus, Cypress, Cade, Guaiac Wood, Amber. (3) *Rose Steady* with Frankincense, Cashmere Woods, Bay Leaf, Rose, Sandalwood, Fig Leaf, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Musk. (4) *Bergamot Brio* with Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom, Lavender, Verbena, Jasmine, Patchouli, Vetiver, Sage, Amber. If I was a betting man (I've been known to place a wager or two) I would have thought *Bergamot Brio* would come in 1st Place followed by *Rose Steady* (ditto about roses). Well....excuse me, Mz. Belnu! I liked....every one of them. That rarely happens. I waited a day and sniffed them (all) again and tossed a coin and consulted with my astrologer and decided ~ the ONE that would be the MOST DIFFERENT addition to my collection would be *Chai Fleur* so...I ordered a bottle. Phew! I'm thinking I'll be ordering another one at some point soon; not sure which one it will be. These are beautiful perfumes.

One million percent, yes. This is the sandalwood of my dreams. It smells like those luxe sandalwood diffuser oils that you find in luxury hotels, but before it ever veers too far into aromatherapy territory, the creamy vanilla planifolia base pulls it back into something warm, plush, and deeply comforting. Although the published notes disclose lavender and violet, there seems to be some other soft/plush florals lingering in the background. And despite the name, this really has nothing to do with tea. It’s more about elevating the actual chai spice blend of cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I could wear this 24/7, year-round. So happy with this pickup... the more you wear it, the more you pick up on the complexity of it.

At first, this fragrance was so different than I had expected that I was disappointed and put it away. I planned to give it to a friend, but decided to try it one more trial... and with minimal expectations, I realized it is a beautiful, different, modern scent. I get a lot of violet and cypriol (I think), along with some vague spices and sandalwood in the background. It is not as sweet as I expected, and I would consider it more of a woody floral than a flormand scent.

This fragrance is everything. Layered, complex, elevated but still comforting — it starts out with masala chai spices then shifts into powdery fresh florals that pair nicely with the nutmeg and then it dries down into a beautiful creamy vanilla and sandalwood fragrance. This fragrance is a full experience, and I get compliments whenever I wear this - from both men and women, in elevators, my office, everywhere really! This fragrance is a must have.

I don't really like floral scents, particularly purple florals, but I really like this. The lavender is soft and well blended, so it is not masculine or herbal. The violet just lends some powdery texture. It is a really complex, but also soft and comforting. I think it may be the one floral I get for my collection.

Out of the 80 fragrances I own. This is my favorite. It’s the cleanest and most satisfying perfume I have ever been exposed too. For reference, I have not found a sandalwood or violet fragrance that appeals to me, but this is in a league of its own. I only wish they made this in a 100 ML bottle.

Very pretty soft woody scent- with perhaps a touch of coffee mixed in? Am I the only one picking this up?

I adore the opening of this. Spicy, delicious, milky chai. But the opening lasts only 30 minutes or so on me, then dries down to a gourmand vanilla skin scent. Don’t get me wrong, it smells great. (And that’s coming from someone who finds gourmands overwhelming. It is close enough to the skin that even in warmer months, it is non-cloying.) But the spice was gone, and that was my favorite part. On one hand, I was surprised to read others’ comparisons to Bois de Balincourt. That kind of sandalwood note can overwhelm my nose, and I got none of it. On the other hand, this IS a Frank Voelkl scent, so, obviously. Sandalwood. But I got none of it on my skin— the woodiest it got is comparable to the subtle woody base of The Nue Co’s First Milk, a favorite of mine. All in all, I really enjoy this scent and Belnu in general. The brand ethos is genuine (Darcy is lovely) and the quality is high. But I don’t think this one is full bottle worthy for me, at least not on my current budget, as I’d likely reapply often to maintain the spicy opening. If I had it, I’d probably wear it most in cooler months.

Initially I was a disappointed because this isn’t the chai perfume I hoped for. I really get no “chai” at all- this is primarily a violet fragrance. BUT it is a very nicely done violet that doesn’t lean grape-y or old-fashioned. Once I accepted it for what it is, I actually do enjoy it. It’s a beautiful classic violet softened by the spices and woods. I actually see a kinship to You Doux, perhaps unsurprisingly considering the same perfumer is behind both fragrances. Personally I prefer (and already own) You Doux, so I don’t see this having a place in my collection.

So stupidly surprised how good this was. I try hard to not let influencers dictate my buys but I had to sample this one after seeing review after review. And damn it it’s worth the hype. It’s got a beautiful chai latte, almost slight pumpkin cinnamon, creamy, vanilla, and slight lavender scent to it. Beautifully mixed together, so utterly smooth, I wouldn’t call it a gourmand but it for sure is a cafe scent. Will for sure be buying a full bottle.

I want to love it, but I cant. All my favorite parts do not last long enough, leaving me wanting. After the first hour its still quite pleasant and good smelling to me, but I miss the spices that balanced everything out so well. After an hour lavender, sandalwood and vanilla dominate with enough cypriol to keep it interesting. I miss the spices after the first hour! When my decant runs out, I might get another, but probably not a full bottle.

Personally, I’m disappointed in this fragrance. I was hoping for a creamy spicy blend of chai spices and florals. This opens up heavily with the sandalwood, I have Bois de Balincourt and it smells nearly identical in the opening. I like sandalwood and it’s still a nice fragrance. I just already have my fill of sandalwood forward fragrances. I don’t need another.

Very powdery. Violet forward. This to me smells more of a floral fragrance. I would say it's definitely complex. You get a little bit of a few notes here and there. But when I heard chai I thought this would be more chai latte. It's definitely not a gourmand which I assumed it would be. I'm not huge on gourmands but I would have preferred this to be a little bit more chai-like for what I was looking for. That fresh spiciness is there. I don't get cardamom but that is my favorite note. Overall a pass and this is really just an initial thought. I haven't actually worn it longer than 10 minutes. I'll come back and rave about it if I changed my mind.

Don't be fooled by the name - this is not a chai scent, or even a remotely spiced scent. This is a straight up sandalwood, nearly identical to Bois de Balincourt. If you like sandalwood, you'll probably like it!

i found this to be a unique take on a chai perfume. it’s chai (latte) forward, a sweet milky nutmeg and cinnamon blend, but there’s a touch of lavender and vanilla bean. like actual fresh vanilla bean, freshly scraped. i’m sure there’s a cafe where i can be served the beverage version of this made by a really beautiful bisexual barista for $9. it’s not overly sweet, it’s really lovely and well balanced.

This is so pretty. They did a very good job here. I get a milky scent with lavender and a beautiful sandalwood note, adorned with some sugared and spicy notes, mostly cinnamon, nutmeg...the floral notes are very light, mostly violet. This is sweet, spicy and woody. It doesn't project a lot but has decent longevity. Very interesting scent.

This is spicy and nice... creamy but yet sexy! I only have a 2 ml sample but I’m thinking things FB worthy! Wow it’s pretty complex and changes... I love all the layers Of this one. It’s not a chia scent per se it’s spicy.. sexy not cozy and the freshness takes you by surprise because of the warmth of it. Great perfume!

The Cypriol and nutmeg in this brings a certain brightness to the scent. On my skin it pulls a little Lysol house cleaner but it dries down powdery violet cardamom sort of similar to bois de balincourt. It’s a beautiful scent, but my skin chemistry doesn’t seem to vibe with it.

on me, this is not a gourmand chai. it’s very soft and comforting, slightly spicy, clean, powdery. i feel like an elegant lady would wear this.

was hoping to find a less gourmond chai but i think its a pipe dream.. this is nice, warm spicy and creamy its delish
