Incense Antique

If you like Fugazzi Angel Dust meet the more sophisticated, older sibling.

I’m going to be the weird one who calls this a summer fragrance. Here’s the thing: yes, it works for cooler months. Of course it does. But it lives so close to the skin and has such a lightness to it, that to me, it would be a missed opportunity to shelf it for the summer. It’s also a fantastic layering fragrance to pair with an airy fragrance you want to add more gravity to. For example, I went on a walk on a very hot, humid day. She smelled amazing, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. She said she layered Incense Antique with Glossier You. I know both very well, but never would’ve guessed the pairing as they melded so flawlessly. A pink + black pepper dream that somehow worked for a sticky summer day in the sun. It’s very rare that I can find fragrances with profiles like this that don’t overwhelm me, or people I’m close to who have smell sensitivities. Once I work my way through my sample, I’d love to add the full size to my collection.

Incense, black pepper, cardamom and cypress. It’s a spicy evergreen forest scent. I can’t place it but there’s something I’ve smelled that is its exact clone! Patchouli isn’t overpowering but it’s there. Very forest-like, rich and resinous. Smells like a lumberjack esque guy’s beard he takes very good care of (complimentary)

This starts off outstandingly coniferous, cypress-y, and resinous. Feels cooling in the back of your nose, similar to smelling tree sap in a cold forest. This is a very natural smelling perfume that packs a punch! The cypress starts to tone down a bit after the first few minutes, leaving you with a fizzy, sticky, gorgeous olibanum. This is a fresh but very deep scent, with no smoke. Unfortunately, the drydown is v e r y musky, which I really dislike.

One of my favorite sweet incense fragrances! The citrus reads as coniferous (I definitely get the cypress), and pepper adds to this bright, spicy opening. All the other warmer, cozier elements with the olibanum make this a true forest-like incense. I'm not sure where the sweetness is coming from exactly - to me it feels like a neutral sweetness like cane sugar.
