Benetton Rosso Woman

I had this last 2012 but didn't pay much attention to it since it smells typically 'fruity sweet' like any other fruit and vanilla-based fragrances. But a year ago, I stumbled on this bottle again and sprayed it on my arm. I SMELLED SOMETHING LIKE A BURNT WOOD. Like a cloud of bitter smoke slapped me across my face. However, I waited for like half an hour and here comes the sweet notes: Vanilla, along with the citrus and passionfruit made it smell like a cold, creamy lotion with some bitterness in it. Since it doesn't have caramel or honey--- the vanilla here isn't as 'warm'. But I could get some Tonkas, maybe. I could picture this as someone who drinks Swiss Miss next to a campfire of some sort during a cold winter night. Gosh. Whatever that bitter thing is, just made this fragrance more expensive smelling than generic. It does smell like Hypnose but also has the characteristics of Dior Hypnotic Poison's 'Play Doh' accord. There is some hints of nuts/rootbeer but it isn't that obvious unless you bury your nose into your arm lol. I wouldn't wear this at work but on formal occasions during the day. Longevity around 4-8 hours depending on the activity. Sillage is moderate to heavy IMO.

I agree with some previous opinions that closely resembles Lancome Hypnose, then it is an exquisite fragrance, sensual and captivating, a delight for the senses. His fixation is regular, so I apply it several times a day. The price is very convenient. Clearly an excellent choice, certainly when this bottle runs out, buy it again. :-)

I once dated a very nice man who was intelligent, engaging, good looking, financially stable. I'll go so far as to say I loved him, but it was hard to maintain a relationship with him, as he was never around as often as I wanted him to be. We were engaged briefly, but that ended within weeks and I called the whole thing off...so it is with Benetton Rosso. This is a wonderful fragrance with the ability to warm on my skin so quickly and so seductively, I drove to work today thinking, "Oh my gosh, I love this!" Nothing I've ever worn has dizzied me in such a fantastic way, and I have an extensive collection of frags. But, like Mr. Wonderful. it just wasn't in it for the long-haul. I drive over an hour to work and by the time I arrived this morning, alas, this dazzling fragrance was gone like a mist in the wind. I was so disappointed, truly believing I had found something that I would snatch up whenever I found it available. But I don't see that happening with Rosso. If it could have only stayed with me, I would have worn it often and reveled in its honeyed jasmine embrace. I have to add, the jasmine note in this hearkens back to another favorite of mine, Avon's Imari Mystique. (We all have a type we go for, right?) The woods and jasmine in Imari Mystique suck me in every time I wear it (it is sadly a rare treasure to find, these days) and this Rosso juice was the classier, more refined of the two. It was not meant to be and I have to say, much like the doomed relationship with Mr. Wonderful I will chalk this up to live and learn...I wish I didn't have to because I really loved it while it lasted-both the perfume and the man. EDIT: I wore this again today, after concocting my own body lotion with the EDT. There is something in this that brings to mind Ted Lapidus' SILK WAY. Probably the vanilla and jasmine. They both have fruity notes as well, and though SILK WAY carries an incense note, I'm thinking what I'm picking up on in ROSSO is the styrax which is similar to the smoky, somewhat resinous incense in the TL frag. I practically had to bathe in ROSSO to make it stand out and last, and though it still sits close to the skin (and that wonderful lilac smell is lingering) I'm hoping I can get at least 4 hours out of it today. Sprayed it in my hair and so far, I can still catch it every now and again.

"This actually smells good!" were the first words out of my mouth upon applying Benetton ROSSO, so I obviously continue to labor under my anti-Benetton prejudice... Contrary to other reviewers, I do not think that ROSSO is a clone of HYPNOSE. I'd say that it would be better described as "HYPNOSE meets HYPNOTIC POISON"--specifically the Playdoh facet of the latter. Fortunately, there is no rootbeer here, so I actually prefer this composition to HP. ROSSO is much lighter, too, so more appropriate for summertime. It just dawned on me why perfumers would include a Playdoh note in their creations: this is a comfort scent! Return to your childhood, sit on the floor with your legs crossed and create sculptures from extruded Playdoh. On my skin ROSSO edt has both low sillage and poor longevity. But it smells pretty good while it lasts. This is not a typical fruity floral--more of a light oriental, it seems to me. Not bad at all, and I think that ROSSO would make a fine gift for a teenager.

Very different...still have a bit in my small bottle. Reminds me of when i was in Ecuador, thats where i bought the Rosso deodorant from and wore it all the time. The deo is super lovely. The frag, best for a colder day...when you want something different, with an edge. Id say wear this at a family lunch, as it smells even - arguably sophisticated - id go as far as to say; rather than wearing it at a night club - as its not 'sexy' enough.

This is not that similar to Hypnose to me. If I hadn’t read the comparison here, I doubt I would make that conclusion myself. This shares a floral vanilla tone with Hypnose, but Rosso is less sweet and more green and herbal. I think the review by 2746cstreet pretty much sums up how I perceive this scent too, so there’s not much for me to add. I am wearing this scent in the summer, but I think it would be better suited to cooler weather.

It was my first blind-buy. It's not my favourite fragrance, but it's okay. I just like it. For me it's smell like cold,metallic vanilla.. I prefer more sweet,warm scents and that is just cold. A lot of people say that this fragrance is a copy of Lancome Hypnose - I can't say that because i never smell it :P By the way - I like this fragrance. Not much. But like. Now I know that I like different kind vanilla.

I should have stuck with this instead of wasting my money on Lancome's Hypnose. This does smell similar but actually better. Hypnose is more vanillery sweet and sickly. Rosso is much more pleasant and seems of better quality despite being discontinued and incredibly cheap. I guess stockists are trying to get rid of the last of their supplies, now only $5 in Aus.

This perfume is such a fun summer scent! It's sweet and fruity without being overpowering, and the citrus notes really make it pop. I get tons of compliments on it.

it remainds me hypnose lancome

This was a cheap blind buy. I thought this will be a summery sweet vanilla and passionfruit, one of my favorites, but it's not sweet and not fruity at all. For me it's a perfume for sad autumn days when people are introverted, distant and melancholic, totally the opposite what I expected.

I read the reviews and bought it along with a body wash. However, I really don't like the smell. It's not a pleasant, and I feel agitated and annoyed when I wear this.

Every time I read reviews on perfumes with balsamic notes, there seems to be a huge disparity on how people perceive them, and this one is not an exception. It was my first blind buy and I have grown to like it more over the years (I bought it as a teen and it was far too much for me at the time). I never experienced any of the lightness or summery or even sweet and warm traces that many of you seem to describe. No, my skin has something going on with balsamic smells for a very long time and the patchouli notes just scream over everything else on me - combine that with a very accentuated vanilla and styrax and boom, I'm left with a very smoky, sweet, somewhat oily and very somber fragrance, not at all something to ear during warm days or even, well, during daytime. As an adult, I've grown to like it quite a lot, but the 100ml bottle has been lasting a looooong time since I can only tolerate it on my skin during crispy nights in winter and fall. That being said, its evolution on my skin is almost nonexistent - over the time, the citrusy smells start getting a bit of space and the sort of burnt smell start to lose its overpowering presence, and then they actually become nice and the Jasmine notes start to become a bit more perceptible as well, softening everything, but that's it. The vanilla, patchouli, styrax and lilac notes are still the most noticeable smells even after I shower, depending on how much I apply it. It is super strong and usually, 2 sprays linger from anything between 8 to 12 hours on me (again, I use it mostly on cold temperatures). More than that and I either get a headache or annoy the hell out of everyone around me. Sillage is great with moderate amounts of it on your skin, people close to me can smell it in a non-overpowering way, but it clings to clothing rather easily and good luck changing smells on the next time you wear them.

I don't see this as a dupe for Hypnose as this is not nearly as sweet. Hypnose to me smells like vanilla extract + bananas. I find the sweetness of Hypnose very dense. They are both soft, creamy vanillas, but I prefer Rosso. This opens like orange bubblegum, but then the florals and styrax come in and calm down the sweetness. Rosso has a good dose of mandarin and peony countering the vanilla. It's fresh and slightly spicy. The drydown is a soft, light but creamy vanilla-floral with a slight wood chip accord. It's pleasant, pretty, sweet and inoffensive. I think many people who are middle of the road when it comes to gourmands would like this. It's also very affordable.

What a surprising treat Rosso is to my nose. I do not find it to be fruity, but rather as another reviewer said, is a light oriental. Similarities to Hypnose and way less expensive. I find it to be more sweet powdery impressions during the dry down. Peony, passion flower and vanilla, a comforting aroma, with tinges of warm, sweet, lemon peeping through, with a light sprinkle of patchouli. I bought as a blind buy and will be buying another bottle pronto, as is so affordable. I really like Rosso and I feel fortunate to of discovered this little gem.

i just tried the sample on me yesterday...i totally fell in love with it...the very first sniff was overwhelming so i didn't wait i got the Benetton hot instead... but after few mins i sniffed it again this on my hand ...it was amazing...i was like ...oh god why didn't i wait!!! well it was not a complete flop show because i love Benetton HOT too....but i kinda like this one better!!! will definitely purchase it next week...cant wait!!

Disappointed. Bought this blind by the reviews here. Boring, just another weak vanilla fruity fragrance that smells like every other one. Silage not strong at all and longevity poor. I am beginning to think my smell has become immune to this type of fragrance, as so many around. I can't smell it much at all.

Hahaha. I came here to remark on the similarity to Lancome's Hypnose. Obviously, not the first to notice. This reminds me of black licorice and gummy bears. Following are nice clean powdery notes. It's a nice one for the holidays.

Soft, creamy vanilla, a bit fruity with a hint of spice & balsamic/styrax, patchouli notes in the background. Sweet & cozy. I really like it a lot. I think it does smell similar to Hypnose & Play it Rock

True! Rosso is a copy of Hypnose by Lancome. Poor sillage but lasts over 8(!) hours, which Eternal Magic from Avon definitely doesn't do.

I had a tester of this a few years ago. It was a pleasent scent, but it felt old smelling on me. too much vanilla.
