Minneapolis 5.3

Had to follow VampsandTramps' train of thought with Luckyscent's current offer and price - full-bottle purchased. Will update further, but based on my previously purchased Grace Note sample: Chanel No. 5 Pour Monsieur. Albeit certainly and unarguably feminine leaning in its opening plushness, there is an air not too dissimilar to my "unofficial" non-Chant Lauder pairing of Lauder for Men/Knowing (a la Devin/Aliage, 900/AE, etc.) without the latter's tuning-fork-to-the-skull effects. The plushness of the aldehydes and floral notes subside, and we are left with a hypnotic soapy iris/vanillic sweetened suede. I think JTD would certainly enjoy a write-up on this one. Never "powdery", but certainly "perfumey" that becomes "cologne-y". Will never become a blockbuster, but as Will C. stated: that isn't the point here. There's something here for passionate collectors - for everyone else: VampsandTramps is correct, this is a cool girl retro - but no "manly" men should fear that in their wardrobes, nor fear wearing it out. Don't be afraid of Chanel 1957 either...

A lovely bright and sharp aldehydic and musky floral. Cool girl retro, something just a little off to make it interesting. I think this fragrance's marketing is doing it a disservice. The lackluster name, the woeful Tom Waits song, the cheeky bottle, and then this aldehydic throwback scent just don't jive together. So just throw that all out and enjoy this fragrance, if you like other vintage-inspired but still totally modern creations like Roberto Greco Porter Sa Peau or La Perla Invisible Touch (though this is a touch sharper). As a I write this, Minneapolis is part of Lucky Scent's overstock sale and I am considering.
