1950

A modern take on the 1950s. Perhaps inspired by Hawaii Mania, this is a through and through tropical fruity floral. Don't be deceived by the houndstooth on the current bottle - it's very unlike Miss Dior. However, there is something grounding and green amidst the sweetness (the mango? - a plant that hails from the poison ivy family?) that does evoke a fleeting feeling of such old-school chypres. But don't be deterred if you're not a fan of white florals or "tropical" scents: this one is beautifully composed and as classy as Esther Williams at the poolside. Nothing synthetic or cheap or difficult about it, yet it still manages to not be boring! A standout in the Decades line in the most unexpected way. Both original (2014) and current reissue are pretty much the same.

I'm trying the re-release from the Besame Decades of Fragrance sampler kit. I'm getting a hairspray vibe, like the scent when you're getting ready for a fun night out and you've used some hair products, sprayed on some fun fruity body spray, and you smell the warm heat scent from your curling iron. I do see the comparison to Gucci Rush, it's got that plasticy/synthetic fruity mango vibe with a sweet musk basenote. I don't hate it! Not sure if this was the vibe in the 1950s but it's definitely fun and different for today.

Represent the vintage classy version of the modern tutti fruity trendy hype,,,minus the raspberry/strawberry, but still GOURMANDY/candy. The youngest of the Besame collection, if you are a fan of the suntan oil kind of perfumes, you found here the best quality of them all, as this brand (honestly) made the best juices. Totally gourmandy,edible.

1950 by Bésame opens with a tropical splash of mango and frangipani, gardenia blossoms, and fresh freesia with a vanilla musk base. As a teen I loved the fruity scent of mango and I am now and avid lover of gardenia, so this scent combines my two of my favorites. I think this is gorgeous and very lady-like! Absolutely love it!

Got a sample pack March 2023. Top is a dry, white floral with plenty of green, mid is more white florals with a touch of bitterness, base is luscious and dense, almost resinous. A fruity gardenia makes a play throughout. One of the more interesting developments of the pack. Opulent white floral.

I don't like this one and it's probably my least favorite decade from their line. I don't like the mango, or any of the white florals. I am not into at least one of the white flowers in here but I can't tell it could be any of them. Then it's mixed with mango and it's just a bad combination.

ALL the Besame fragrances evolve on your skin. My first impression of 1950 was that it had a richness like butter (coconut butter . . . ?). This is the perfume equivalent of cocktails on a lanai in a tropical paradise. Very rich and warm and sexy.
