Betty Barclay Woman No 2

I got this as a gift and was at first underwhelmed - it was exactly the pleasant, inoffensive scent I expected. Nice, but a bit boring and not very me, so it quickly disappeared to the back of my closet. However, I tried it again recently, and WOW. I take back my premature judgement! The scent is so much lovelier than I gave it credit for: far from the generic floral I remember, the violet and rose are actually distinct, and very skilfully crafted. Similarly, the sweetness of the vanilla comes out as a mellow comforting powdery note, which is enjoyable rather than obtrusive, even to my critical nose. Altogether, this scent is like the olfactory incarnation of the word "lovely". It feels intimate and innocent and dreamy. I'm almost ashamed to say how strangely vulnerable it makes me feel - like the early stages of young love, when all is hoping and daydreaming and tentative expressions of ardent feelings. On the practical side, the staying power is also great, unlike many more expensive fragrances it lasts all day on me. However, I have to admit that I probably won't be wearing this much, despite my newfound admiration, simply because my sentimental side is not something I tend to like showing much. My public persona is best matched by more masculine, powerful scents, so this one will probably be kept for evenings at home - unless of course I fall madly in love sometime soon and turn into a complete sap, then I guarantee nothing :)

This definitely wasn't a love at first sniff for me. I was having a terrible day when i recieved my parcel and this fragrance being such a soft and intimate skin scent, absolutely enrages me thinking it was a total failure. Oh well, a few days passed, my anger subsided and I was ready for a re-test. By then, i could see the hidden beauty of the perfume! It is such a clean and versatile scent. If it was a person, it would be a most innocent, calm and studious young lady. Mostly I get soft sandalwood with powdery violet, leaning towards a more cooler low-key vibe, with a touch of a paper-like texture??? And yes this is a true skin scent, no one would be able to detect it unless you're embracing. It is perfect for people (unisex) in the medical field, as well as for office wear. For me personally, it has become a favourite bedtime scent during the warmer months. In the colder days my go-to would be charlie by revlon (another cheapie). I'm looking forward to wearing this in the colder months as I've seen some people suggesting it smells best during that time.

Woman n2 was popular in early 2000's. My friends use to wear this during their teenage years, but I didn't. It was forgotten after 2003. I found it again when I was twenty. It was a blind buy for me as I bought it in sales. I didn't remember the bottle or it's colour but... first spray was instant love and full of memories. This was the scent of my early twenties and I thought it was discontinued because I couldn't find it anywhere. After ten years I found this hidden treasure once again and got my new bottle today. First spray is citrus and sharp powdery. Drydown is slightly sweet and balsamic. I can smell violet and white musk. I don't smell vanilla. Longevity is better than average. It's nice daytime scent. I have Eau de parfum version.

Right about to finish my second bottle of this! The only reason I won't be purchasing another any time soon is that I was able to get my hands on Lapidus Woman and my nose can't tell the difference between them. To me, this is just a lighter version of LW. Not as long-lasting, but smells identical and is a lot easier to find in my country.

Oh my God, this is the best parfum I have ever had!

This wasn't love at first sight, but after smelling it a few more times on my sister, it kind of grew on me and she gifted me the rest of the bottle. That was in the summertime, but when winter came, that's when this perfume truly shines. It's so beautiful and non-offensive, my boyfriend also started loving it. He said it's his favourite winter perfume of mine! The light blue bottle really fits the scent aswell. I see by the votes that more people just like this perfum rather than loving it and that perfectly reflects what type of scent this is, and how likeable and non-offensive it is. Really great perfume for it's price, but not a head-turner.

I once owned this perfume and I liked it a lot. I remember that everyone wore it in summer but I found that just wrong. My preferred season for wearing Woman No. 2 was winter because the powdery (rose and violet), sweet (vanilla) scent was perfect for winter and I am still thinking it actually smelled a bit like flowers in the snow. Actually I can link it to Yves Rocher's first winter fragrance from the Folies de Saisons range. Woman No.2 was not as good as YR's Folies but when it comes to lasting power (hours and hours...) and sillage (utter madness) Woman No. 2 was simply great! I would buy it again if I could.

I love it, too. Beautiful, young, pleasant, feminine, tender, elegant and classy. This is my new treasure. EDIT: LOVE IT! This is the violet perfume that was searching for. In my top favourites.

I love this perfume and I've been using it since 2004 - a long time for me! It's very feminine, it smells sophisticated. A nice price for a really nice eau de toilette.

a sweet dry vanilla; that's it, vanilla and some musk

I tested it yesterday and thought it's the typical kind of aqcuatic drugstore scent you can get from many brands. There's nothing I could point you out.

This was a present of my then boyfriend. I cried when I got it. I felt sorry for him, but I did not want to smell like that. To me it smelled like old lady. I was around 16-17 by then.

For me this is a perfume that I strongly like. It is just so pleasant. I have never felt strong love towards it but what I especially like in it is how easy to wear and pretty it smells. Nothing rude about it. The bergamot comes out very strong in the start. But the scent then softens to all around softness of vanilla, sweet musk adn powder. One odd scent I have always got from it is "cigar". And it was so inexpensive too. Too bad also discontinued. I still have one little bottle 2/3 full so I can wear it when I feel the urge to.

This is a wink of the moment buy. And actually, it's the first blue perfume I've ever had. Usually, I'm rather a yellow/golden scent type... So. Yes, blue notes, but not unpleasant. Refreshingly new to the default nose. Underneath I still discern golden tones, and a little bit of Pink. I also like the woody accent, and I dearly hope my skin won't turn it all into soap, as happens so often with less expensive perfumes. All in all, I'm quite happy with this.

It is a very strong and sweet perfume, nice, but a bit too ordinary, in my opinion. It is creamy and, as I have already said, the staying power of my tester is something to rave about. But I probably would not buy it or if I bought it, it would soon disappear on the darkest shelf because it is so pleasantly ordinary and innofensive.

I can only say, this was my first perfume (early 2000's). And I LOVED it, I tested many in the shop, and this one felt perfect. But I tested it years and years later, and now it smells horribly synthetic to me. Try it if you see a tester, but don't blind buy.
