Ghost of Tom

Amazing scent with smoky black tea (you can call it mate but for me it’s pu-erh) with lots of sugar and a dash of juice fruits. Powerful woody (slightly masculine) base. It smells like a beautiful baby of Dear Polly and Platinum 22. Deeper and darker than the first one and less powdery (and nutty) than the second. Also is it just me or am I picking a whiff of BR540?? It is a mix of Morning Chess by Vilhelm Perfumerie and a leather note with a dry down of a stronger version of Papier by Diptyque (maybe that is what Papyrus note gives me). The lasting power and sillage are amazing. One of the best perfumes for winter in my opinion. It is definitely a unisex leaning towards masculine.

Currently obsessed with this. Such a transfixing jammy sharp tea fragrance. It’s green and earthy and tart. It’s magical. This is what I imagine a wood elf wood smell like. Super long lasting, if only it was cheaper! A bottle of this will be gone in a flash

To all my Venezuelans this smells exactly like powdered Nestea from back home with some elegance and freshness on top. I’m in love.

This is Dear Polly but unisex/male version.

Last autumn, I had the privilege of receiving a substantial selection of generous samples from a brand-new reality in the fragrance universe: Bibbi. Encouraged by the words, «Try, you’ll fall in love with them», I was also provided with a detailed account of Stina, Jan Ahlgren’s wife (Ahlgren is the founder of Vilhelm Parfumerie), along with her specific plans for this line, its genesis, and conceptualization. While I approach products presented apologetically with a degree of skepticism, the aesthetic appeal of the bottles, the logo, and the quasi-Klein Blue accents of the label and the cap prompted me to engage with the proposal. Of all the samples I received, only Ghost of Tom truly captured my interest. Faithful to its description, it exudes notes of violet and tea, with a prominent base of papyrus (a surprisingly discernible element) and black amber (one of those allegedly necessary accords that very likely conceal other, more renowned fixatives). Plus, the narrative behind its name further enhances the perfume’s allure, lending it an additional layer of intrigue. However, given the esteemed pedigree of the perfumer and creative minds associated with Bibbi, I must confess that my expectations were somewhat higher than what actually speaks to me (which is extremely unimaginative). Without delving into the “pricing structure” or questioning the rationale behind Jérôme Epinette’s involvement with a Swedish brand once again, and considering then his extensive portfolio with other Swedish labels (including Byredo, Vilhelm, and Bibbi, as well as Arket, And Other Stories, Bjork and Berries, etc.), one might wonder if there is a need for a reassessment of his creative contributions or if his work has become somewhat formulaic.

Green scent more on the sharp / tart aromatic side. Immediately I was reminded of Dear Polly and then Torino 22 later on.

Fantastic sweet black tea scent! Unisex

So I'll be the first to diss this one.. but not actually the quality, blend or longevity which are all excellent! I do like the opening, it is fresh, green an inviting and if it carried on at that level I'd have been laughing, but there is something in the dry down that turns .. well, less earthy, more acridly dirty on my skin and it is actually nasty! From the reviews, my guess it that this one is skin chemistry dependent. By all means sample, but it is evidently not a safe blind buy.

No. Perhaps it is a good thing Tom is dead in this scenario, as he would be bitterly disappointed in this fragrance. However I have a confession. Despite my distaste for this fragrance, it is absolutely heavenly for roughly 10 minutes, 15 minutes after you apply it. At first it is too sour, must mellow on the skin. After this time period, it smells musty like old, wet, rotting wood.

Most interesting from the collection, but still subpar to Vilhelm Parfumerie's Polly. It is definitely Dear Polly's distant cousin. But we are talking big city polished educated style icon versus farmer's daughter struggling to graduate middle school level of difference.

This scent carries two prominent characters for me:- - 24 year old straight woman working a social media marketing internship in Manchester. Copenhagen aesthetic. Once loved Matilda Djerf. She might turn her nose up at you but you wouldn’t notice. She’s too poise, deer-eyed and calculated. She lives a fairly modern life. Shops at COS. Might marry her childhood sweetheart - 26 year old gay man. A twink. Him and his boyfriend share this perfume but really he owns it. When his boyfriend wears this it’s controversial and uncertain. The twink wears black racer tops. Brunette curls that wisp his ears and eyebrows. Mullet-like. He wears silver jewellery and leather shoes. Like doc martens. He’s freckled and kind. Chivalrous to women in every way.

I find this fragrance really quite bland on skin and very VERY dry. As if inhaling a bag of dried black tea leaves. Strangely, I quite like wearing this to work, as it has that aromatherapy - focussing energy - kind of vibe. The blackcurrant is underripe; from opening to dry-down I don't detect a hint of sweetness. One to sample if you're interested in a niche take on tea scents that leans heavily into the green, medicinal, bitter quality of the note.

I tried some frags by this brand in store and ended up buying a discovery set. And I was the most intrigued by this one - I love tea scents - however, after i put it on skin and not on a piece of paper, it turned too acidic on me, and the overall impression is not pleasant. It’s too sour for my liking and I’d love to add to the comment below - it’s probably an individual skin reaction, but it’s not a safe blind buy after all. But what is, though?...

If you're into ultra-green scents, this is worth a try. I absolutely love L'Ombre Dans L'eau and Debaser, and if you’re into that vibe, you might like this one. Easily the most interesting perfume from the brand - though Iris Wallpaper comes close. The rest? Pretty underwhelming for me.

Out of the Epinette sisters Dear Polly, Mixed Emotions, and Ghost of Tom. Dear Polly is the bookish pretty one, Mixed Emotions is the goth-y slut, and Ghost of Tom is the butch lesbian. I love all of them.

Am I the only one who sees a clone of Mixed Emotions in these notes? They are like 90% similar! I need to smell the Ghost of Tom first, but I have this feeling that they are VERY similar...

It reminds me a lot of 'I don't know what' by DS & Durga
