DNA

*DNA* by Bijan (original) is one of those 90's fragrances that was big and utterly gorgeous, I liken it to others of that era notably Dali, Diva, Bal a Versailles & Lou Lou that exuded it's loveliness for hour after hour. The original formula contained high quality components and was housed in a most intriguing bottle, so tactile like a massive stick of barley sugar, the re-issue sadly is a poor substitute as I imagine to reconstruct the original offering would now be totally out of the question due to the prohibitive costs involved seeking out the HQ ingredients, luckily I have a healthy back up supply of a couple of bottles of the 100 ml. vapo's for those inevitable rainy days 'lol', many are happy with the latest offering at least it hasn't been discontinued like so many others from that era. I adore it's complex floralcy, ambery richness along with the sweet east Indian sandalwood & musky base ! The edp is more than adequate, the pure parfum is utterly divine!!! This also reminds me of vintage Tabu extrait, et al including the kitchen sink :-)

Unusual indeed. Definitely has great staying power, although after about 3 hours, the linger is so faint that only you can smell it on yourself. I must admit that upon first smelling it, I really disliked it. And I continue to dislike it until I've been wearing it for about an hour and a half. Only then do those amber, woody, and bergamot notes being to emerge on me. I'm still breaking it in, so to speak. Not one of my favorites, but still one I will wear on occasion, during winter, cozied up in a sweater.

I have the original (brown) version of DNA and love it. I'm currently in search of something to replace it since it's getting harder to find. For me, it's a slightly spicy, warm scent. Not flowery at all. I always get compliments when I wear it. The new (purple) version smells like a flower garden threw up on me.

This smells lovely,actually one of most gorgeous 90s scents my nose had the pleasure to try and I'm very sad to see how much underrated it is,there are some classics that are very famous but are totally unwearable,they don't even smell good and they just receive some great reviews because of their great names Aromatic,woodsy,green,herbal scents are not my thing but I still enjoy dna,on me it's more like oriental spicy. on my skin the most dominant notes are myrrh, spices(mainly cinnamon), benzoin, sandalwood and amber it smells really bad when I smell from the bottle but on skin,as it unfolds it's notes and becomes warmer,it shows it's magic Opening is fresh spicy, a bit herbal and a bit green. not my favorite part but florals kick in and it becomes pretty.this isn't a floral fragrance and I can't pickup florals specifically,they're creamy/oily,a tad spicy,warm and golden..best part of bijan dna is it's base.It's a lovely combination of myrrh,balmy woods,spices(eventhough not listed,I smell lots of cinnamon),amber,creamy benzoin and a hint of soft florals and green freshness..it's delicious(in the same way that GivenchyAmarige Marriage is) and charming,unique and strong,warm,golden and enveloping If you love myrrh,spicy sweet amber and balmy woods give it a try but be aware about bottles that may have gone bad because I've seen lots of them.they were sharp,smelled bad and had almost no lasting power..my honey-colored dna lasts more than 8 hours on my skin and has an almost huge sillage Also make sure to use it in chilly weather,it becomes too much sticky sweet and spicy in heat I only have a 0.16 oz mini bottle of it which was a gift from a dear friend and it's enough for me right now but if I see a bottle which is still ok with a good price,I'll buy it to be able to enjoy this sweet balmy myrrh heaven more often I like lots of 90s and even older perfumes but I like to use them for my own pleasure and use them when I'm at home so I prefer mini bottles of them,this is one of rare ones that I would appreciate owning a bigger bottle of it ❤❤❤❤ Ps:it has also unique bottle and packaging

Just received my bottle. This is a "floral" without a doubt despite the fact it contains a variety of scents. I love the jasmine and it holds up for hours. The primary difference in this floral and others is its staying ability. This is one long lived floral with a lovely scent. I did not smell soap at all...just pleasant jasmine coupled with amber and other beautiful scents. The sillage is good, but not overwhelming. For a wonderful "cheap" thrill I would recommend this fragrance. I think it could be worn any old time of the year. It's a giant plus to find a floral that does not wane after a few hours and is so cost effective. From my small exposure to Bijan, they give a very good product for the money spent.

Very similar to the vintage Bijan women's perfume that I have worn - over 30 years. They are in the same exact chord range...both are a strong solid alto chord. DNA is slightly more spicy/cinnamon/floral -- and Bijan is a warm chord with more of a tobacco sweet type base note. These appear to be sister scents. I am still sampling DNA, but so far - I like both of them. When scents are THIS CLOSE - I still feel that you could wear both as a "signature"... expressing different moods with the notes of each perfume. Victoria Secret's Rapture is close to this -- and if you really like this type of blend, I would also try Jil Sanders No. 4 (which has a stronger civet scent to it, but is in this same general chord).

I have an edp vintage mini, and a reformulated edt. The edp is a heavy resinous floral. The edt is a light airy floral with a much different note profile. They are so different from each other they might as well be two different perfumes. The strange bottle and name in no way reflects the beautiful juice of either strength. I think this company wanted this bottle designed to be viewed as edgy. Instead it just comes off as strange and not something you want to put on display. Oh well, it could have been worse. At least the bottle is easy to hold and spray.

DNA is a gorgeous perfume from the early 90's. Rich and spicy, this scent isn't for shy people who like to melt into the background. D. has strength but it's not crass or overwhelming. Sillage and lasting power are decent. I've tested a bottle of the old stock, in the swirly bottle. D. has been reformulated, and I've no idea what the new stuff's like. Due to its spicy notes D. would work nicely on men as well as women. The floral notes are a little subdued by the spicy/woody notes, but the composition is lovely.

This smells spicy to me.I love the deep rich,warm aura it gives off..I love amber so it suits me to a T.It lasts forever on me.Butt,I have an older almost full bottle of it.Deep tea colour.Maybe newer ones smell differently

It's different alright, but not in a good way. In the bottle it smelled quite okay, spicy and unusual but not necessarily bad. On my skin I got mostly geranium and rosemary until it turned into an insistent cheap soapy stench. Like a closet full of those little soap bars you'd find in hotel. After a while it morphed into an alright spicy scent with subdued white flowers. At some point I got an impression of the cough drops my grandma used to carry around. Nothing I want to smell like! The dry-down was okay, not really nice but okay. The myrrh stood out a little, but all in all it was a harmonic complex finish. I got pretty much everything listed as base notes: myrrh, sandalwood, amber, oakmoss, vetiver and even a soft hint of vanilla. The staying power was about 7 hours.

This review is for original formula. Big, loud, spicy and complex scent. Although tuberose is supposed to be in the midle notes, it marches in together with geranium from the very beginning; clove, spices and rosemary entering one step behind them. Sandalwood is very prominent in this one, and myrrh, too. If there is vanilla (I can't detect it though) it isn't the usual gourmand type. Flowers (jasmine, lily-of-the-valley) are very subdued by vetiver (I think). Very old-fashioned feel, nothing like modern perfumes. Definitely for mature women. I appreciate its mossy complexity, but can't imagine myself wearing it...

I was clearing out one of my closets and I found this one stuck in one of my old makeup bags. Total flashback; my husband bought this for me for Christmas one year. I remember wearing this one a lot back in the day, and then I just stopped. Why? Don't know. I popped the top off and deeply inhaled. What a rush.... I was transported back to the age of the 1990's Supermodels and Calvin Klein 1990's powerhouse fragrances; very spicy and super musky. It's a very complex and rich kind of scent that takes some time to settle on the skin. I wonder what changes as we get older. In my 20's I loved this one; now.... it's headache inducing. It's just too spicy and musky for me...there's nothing delicate or remotely soft or feminine about this fragrance. In my opinion, it's a 'statement' sort of scent, and you'll either love it or loathe it. If you like Estee Lauder's Cinnabar, or even Youth Dew, you'd probably like this one. I'll say this for DNA, one whiff of it made me want to tease my hair to high heaven, take my brow pencil and make the signature Cindy Crawford mole on my face, and do the Supermodel stomp around my house ;)

I bought this fragrance which was vintage. It smells of a weak mixture of flowers, horrible chemical smell which is really very ordinary. I placed it on my skin, it only lasts 3 hrs. I cannot even smell it, unless I sniff my wrist. I put it on my clothes, it still smells very faint. Considering I only paid $20 for a 50mls edp, it is not my favorite. You really need to try this before buying. This is a very faint chypre, the quality is not just there. There is a lot of ingredients but the smell for me is ordinary which is shame.

Very unusual! definitely can knock you right off your feet - the staying power and the concentration is great!Very rich and luscious,and extremely sexy (ambergris and tuberose is a dangerous combination)! My favorite girly Bijan for sure, I wish they would make it again using the old formula.The new is good too, but the old on feels more sexy and liberated!

Sorry, the quality of the fragrance is not just there. I would rate it 1/5 for smell, sillage 2/5 and longevity 1/5, 4/5 for the great funky bottle and packaging. But the fragrance is a weak perfume.

Why is it everytime I truly love something it is either discontinued or very expensive. :( I am sad.
