Dark Amber

Amazing rich vanilla scent. Not a candy scent, but a luxurious, warm and like a hug... But at the same time amazing for wearing on a night out. This is pricey and does smell expensive. Like an expensive, enveloping perfect blend of the complex yet tasteful, even classical bits. I do not get much of green or floral notes, not much of lime or violet (and I'm glad, not a huge fan of the violets scent). It does distantly remind me of multiple different perfumes, such as Intense Cafe by Montale, Cierge De Lune by Aedes de Venustas, Ultimate Aphrodisiac by Vivamor, but it is more about a general impression, they are not really alike. And of course Dark Amber's quality is superior. Plus it performs veeeery well.

Dark Amber feels uncannily familiar from the very first moment. To my nose, it smells almost identical to Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain, a scent that happens to be my all-time favorite. It shares the same warm, resinous vanilla and amber richness, but feels noticeably lighter and less dense. While Spiritueuse Double Vanille is deep and intense, Dark Amber comes across as softer and more airy, making it easier to wear on a daily basis. A lovely option for anyone who adores vanilla-amber scents but prefers a gentler touch.

This is like if you smell on old ship with the wodden all soaked in saltwater, followed by ambery facets and a vainilla bourbon accord rounding the scent, it is for the cold season, day or night, very gourmand like this pretzels covered in caramel and salt bathed with vainilla, an amazing scent but the price point in their webpage its really overpriced, imo.

Absolutely stunning vanilla amber scent. It’s cookies and cream on top. But after a while it becomes a truly mystical dark and multidimensional scent with elegant spiced rum notes and light smoke (those notes are not listed, but it’s a general impression I was getting from my blind test). In 3-4 hrs it’s all about powdery rich vanilla. Beautiful!

Amber is my favorite category of perfume. And between all the ambers I have and countless I have tried this is my hands down favorite of them all. Absolutely additive warmness and perfection.

I got this one as a sample. On paper it immediately smells just like Annick Goutal Nuit et Confidences: vanilla, amber, and some downlayered incense. On the skin, however, it first gives off this amazing fresh citrusy smell, which lasts on me about like 5 min until turning in the same Goutal (which I love btw, don't get me wrong) but with a richer amber note. There are also whiffs of sandalwood from time to time: this adds a bit of depth to the smell too. The projection seems to be bigger than for Nuit as well, once you put this on, it doesn't leave your nose for the rest of the day. However, my boyfriend who doesn't usually like sweet smells said this one smells fresher to him than nuit. Dunno, for me this one is rather heavier, than fresher.

Reminds me of Celine’s Black Tie but with better concentration and longevity. Black Tie is a buttery soft, slightly spicy vanilla but is basically a skin scented on me in 20 minutes. Dark Amber is almost an Extrait of Black Tie or Black Tie’s daddy. I can see the resemblance to MB Club Black but I did a side by side of both Black Tie and Club Black to this Dark Amber and to my nose they were close but Dark Amber has more dimension similar to what is found in Black Tie and less linear than Club Black. Both all three are great similar vanillas but Dark Amber is a better choice for the price than Black Tie.

A deep journey, the inspiration is from the seven seas, which in my opinion hides something more, however. Dark Amber is a deep, sensual, enveloping fragrance that opens immediately with an indolic and creamy floral part, overwhelmed by the relaxing effect of sandalwood. Then the deep scents of amber and realistic vanilla pods emerge, of the highest quality, which really balances the composition. It is warm, sensual, a cuddle especially for the colder seasons. As mentioned in the comments below, this is a great amber vanilla scent. For the most part, it is a sweet, gooey fragrance, as amber is often perceived, it has a slightly spicy tinge from the pepper in the opening and you can also feel a discreet smell of incense, even if it is not mentioned in the notes. All the Birkholz fragrances that I tested were very well blended and you could tell that they use quality ingredients, and this one is no different.
