Visions Of Venice

Fruity sparkles, rose masks, and a woody amber stage. A carnival you can wear.

I don't think I like this perfume by itself. It starts very rubbery, straight up oud-like. It gets better as time passes, it definitely gets sweeter and fresher? . The dry down is sweet but nothing worth spending 200Euros plus for this since the only time I'll probably wear this , would be layering with another fragrance to disguise the horrible opening. I layered with Black Opium Le Parfum ( the one with Vanilla overload) and I like the combo but again not worth the price IMHO.

Of all the Birkholz perfumes I've tried, this one gave me the biggest headaches. I don't consider myself an expert by any means, but after all the years and thousands of fragrances I've tested, I think I can recognize the predominant notes in a perfume, but this one is completely different from how it's written on paper. To my nose it starts very spicy and pungent as if it has pepper and saffron. After a while, it starts to become sweeter and resemble any other perfume with rose and oud/patchouli. In the drydown it gets even sweeter, but this time as if it contains caramel (probably the notes of praline and vanilla). It's a very "strange" perfume and not being a rose fan, it's not something I would wear.

Visions of Venice is a wonderful fragrance enveloped in an aura of mystery. It represents the Venice of a time long ago: exclusive only to its people, un-crowded, in a marvellous time of year: that of Carnival. The masterfully crafted masks, the finely decorated costumes.... The fruity and slightly acidic opening darkens and is flanked by woody and floral scents at the same time, creating a splendid and enveloping aura of mystery. ‘Le Carnival une Venise painted by Flameng.
