Bu Zhi Chun 不知春

I like this perfume. I have been looking for a photorealistic tea scent, preferably something more black tea and this perfume is it. I cannot smell the rhubarb. First spray to dry down is pure oolong tea with very light floral whiffs. I like that it is basically single note on me so I can layer it with one of my perfumes that actually smells very much like rhubarb. I am lkooking forward to layering it with Indult Tihota to see how the tea-vanilla combinatons comes along. Unlike the others, I do not get a plasticky smell from this. I am using this in very hot and humid tropical weather and the scent does not change or go rancid.

Very unique scent- easily the most realistic tea scented perfume I’ve ever smelt, quite heavy initially.

I am a bit conflicted about this scent. At first, it was exactly like an intense cup of hot milk tea, with no sugar. The black tea is very dominant, dabbled with some vapourized milk, not creamy thick but helps to tone down the bitterness of black tea. Theres is absolutely no sweetness. Zero sugar, no ice. It stays on my skin the same even after a hot shower. When i walked back to the room where I tried it on, the milk tea already filled the space. Overall a very intriguing scent. What I'm conflicted about is, maybe this is from personal experience, at times it smells like literal garbage (not the rotten stigma of organic trash, but like old and damp recyclables), or a moldy cabinet that has not seen the sun. However to think of it, it makes sense for tea to have a moldy smell. I've loved experimenting with BuZhiChun, but I'm reluctant to wear it outside cuz I don't know which scent will people pick up.

very photo realistic oolong! it smells freshly brewed oolong or also those bottled oolong tea you can find at foody world. sometimes pulls rubbery (?), lasts pretty long for the price and layered with a softer scent i find is perfect. the rubbery smells goes away and it helps carry the softer scent. sometimes this may be headache inducing by itself too. i like it, but not enough to justify another purchase when theres so many oolong scents out there to try ;3

I'm someone who's always on the hunt for a mellow and refined scent, bonus points if it's melancholy. I went to the Shanghai Yuyuan【 黑爪 Black Paw 】outlet in search for a scent for a dear friend and didn't expect to fall in love with one for myself. As a Chinese person myself, I'm a big fan of loose leaf teas and love dark teas, but I've also learnt over time that most tea scents do not live up to my expectations. However, Black Paw did not disappoint me. At the store, I took my time to sample every scent while looking for one for a friend. It was a pleasant surprise when I was greeted by a realistic and pure tea scent when I finally smelt【 不知春 Bu Zhi Chun 】. To me, it smells like a strong cup of nice oolong that was left to steep until the cup of tea went cold. This is a wintry scent; it doesn't evoke any feelings of warmth, but rather feels cold and crispy, but with a hint of sweetness (perhaps from the rhubarb note listed) peeking gently through the woody and earthy fragrance. It's what we would describe in Chinese as "高贵冷艳", which refers to being reserved/ aloof and hard to approach, but elegant and charming. I personally think this scent is a unisex scent that leans a little more masculine due to how heavy it is, and even when it comes to women, it takes a very specific sort of person to pull off this scent well. I understand that Bu Zhi Chun is named after varieties of tea that are harvested before the spring (it is aptly named as a type of tea that never experiences what springtime is like), but are thought to retain the characteristics of wintry and springtime tea. It's not meant to be astringent and retains its "freshness" for a long time. When I wore Bu Zhi Chun for the first time on my skin (in my tropical and humid home country), I was immediately hit with the thick, strong and mellow oolong fragrance that I fell in love with in Shanghai. However after a few seconds, I felt its scent deepen into something more melancholy and cold that pulled at my heartstrings. With the help of the sweetness of the rhubarb, the earthy and mellow fragrance of the oolong leaves turned into something that evoked a strong sense of bittersweetness. It sounds insanely corny, but I found myself feeling a little choked up. Perhaps it was just my mood that day. I felt like when I wore Bu Zhi Chun, a melancholy feeling lingered in my heart at least at the very beginning. Honestly, it's like a hidden gem in a way and a surprisngly gothic type of scent to me which really resonates with my alternative and Chinese self. Bu Zhi Chun does open up with a very potent oolong scent, which I've noticed some other reviewers find very off-putting. For me and perhaps for other tea fanatics, this is a plus point as it's rich, full-bodied, and dare I say, gourmand. I don't recall how long this lasts, but the opening scent's sillage is pretty immense IMO. When Bu Zhi Chun dried down, I found that it smelt more twiggy in a way, like the stems of steeped tea leaves-- woody, soggy, and slightly aromatic. This is when the scent started to feel less cold and distant. I think this fragrance was a journey, and on the day I wore it, it mirrored the state of my mind very closely. I do wonder if it'll evoke a different feeling for me when I wear it next, and I am very much looking forward to it.

Came across this in store and really liked how it smelled -- the rock oolong scent was really realistic and it reminds me of the tea I drink. Ordered it and when I sprayed it, was overwhelmed by the synthetic plastic and rubber scent. These off notes die down over time but don't completely disappear, and I was too put off by the plastic/rubber to want to keep it. A shame, because underneath it I do like the smokey, woody rock tea scent :(((

I got this Spring rock tea aka Bu Zhi chun through my friend's suggestion. Unfortunately I can't pick up any cashmere woods whatsoever, only plastic is rubberish as a whole. This scent is strong, nauseating. Even though I'm trying this scent in Fall, it still too strong for me. It does have a nice dry down of tea, but the rubber smell is overwhelming.

I thought I had gotten a bad sample because I keep getting the moldy wardrobe scent right from the opening. It's a bummer because I can really get a hint of the good notes underneath that funky smell :/

I don't "hate" this but its just too damn synthetic, yes it gives a very realistic tea smell, but in the middle it just gives a very noticable burning plastic smell.

Any pointers as to where someone from the US can get decants or samples from this house? I’m not interested in blind buying
