Burial

this perfume oil and BPAL are what got me into fragrance a few years ago. i especially love indie brands with gothic and unique scents like this one. Burial is my gothic graveyard dwelling dream scent, it smells like hanging out in a wooded forestry cemetery. Smelling straight from the bottle you really get the juniper and piney notes, when i put it on my skin the magic happens. It’s like sticking your face is fresh soil (in the best way possible). Pure dirt! It reminds me of a rainy day (my favorite days to wear this scent) the rosy florals come out as it dries down on the skin but I find the patchouli and juniper/piney parts linger more on the clothes and hair. Overall this is my favorite indie/weird/gothic perfume I’ve found so far. If you love the smell of wet dirt when it rains you need this in your life!

100% DIRT and as such not massively wearable. I love it.

Oh I wish we had more BPAL reviews, and generally more perfumes on the site.. although I realise how difficult that would be considering the numbers produced and all the specials. I'm not a big Patch fan, but this one is way more than patch. In the imp and whist it's drying there is a bitter, camphorated aroma there, a damp earthy smell, quite astringent, like leaf mould and wet plant cuttings. After it's dried it turns more pine, with the patchouli giving depth. It is forest like.. and much easier on the nose after the bitterness has gone. I think the juniper starts to come then, and a little rose with musk. It is a dark forest, but not a scary one. It is the quiet earth that surrounds us in eternal peace. I would find it difficult to wear but on the right person at the right time it would say a lot.
