Hunger

In the bottle, this is very orange forward, but on my skin it rapidly fades, leaving a Christmas tree-esque piney smell that I think is the black narcissus. The vanilla helps sweeten and round out the smell, but it's sort of astringent until about 20 minutes after application. Very nice, just not the orange creamsicle smell I was looking for.

A decent, deep warm oil. Not even remotely a typical vanilla, it's actually hard to make out the vanilla at all. I think it's one of my favorites from BPAL but like the others I've tried it completely lacks any projection and doesn't have great longevity. 7/10

A deep, resinous scent with a hint of orange, this oil is a bit dark and mysterious, but very, very yummy. It's a good winter warming scent, and one that I find comforting.

LAB'S DESCRIPTION "Evokes sheer, unadulterated carnal lust. An undeniably warm and sensual scent. Black narcissus, orange blossoms, and vanilla." My sample of Hunger is very aged and it's gorgeous!! At first this smells like orange blossom and wood. I have no idea where I get wood from but it does. Before I read the notes I thought there was gonna be cedar or rosewood or something in this. NOPE! Anyway, Hunger is very spicy also and this oil is on the same lines as the "Snake oil" famnily, in the way that it's thick, has tons of throw...(it caused a stir in my office) literally about 8 different people have commented as they've walked through the office. The vanilla is not as strong as I thought it was going to be, Vanilla usually dominates blends I wear. The comments were very very good!! I've never had this much of a reaction from a BPAL perfume, not even Snake Oil. It's a spicy sexy orange after the wood goes, but then it's a tiny bit baby powderish too and musky. It lasts and lasts and lasts, and it's defiantely bottle worthy.

Review of sample that's been setting in a cool dark place for 8 years. Directly from the dabber: This is a borderline Gourmande floral. Yes there is Vanilla but there is added sweetness, like sugar crusted flowers. There is also a kind of moistness or humidity to the flowers. They smell heady and entoxicating. I like it a lot, and I think anyone who likes the smell of very sweet, almost butter flowers would enjoy this.
