Mme. Moriarty Misfortune Teller

I get a strong whiff of melted candle wax in this, which fits so well into the fragrance's mini-story concocted to go along with the scent. It is luscious and rich and waxy, intriguing to the point of madness because there's so much going on but it has been done in a very cohesive way. It lasts nicely on my skin as the better-performing BPAL oils generally do, and it is one that I am glad to keep in my collection.

Mme.Moriarty!!!! What to say. Apart from she is one of the most popular and coveted oils of the Black Phoenix catalogue of thousands!! She belongs to the "Carnaval Diabolique" section and this is her description.. A colorless woman bursts from an elaborate gold and ruby tent and faints dead at your feet. Soft laughter emits from the dark entrance to the tent, and the scent of musk, black fruits and incense touches your senses. Looking up, you see that the sign hovering above the unconscious woman is adorned with images of the Major Arcana’s Tower and reads: “Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller. No fate too grim, no future too bleak.” A tiny woman with floor-length black dreadlocks walks out of the tent, stepping over the prone body. She is clothed in deep red wrappings, and is bedecked in golden ornaments bearing alchemical symbols and charms representing eternity, chance, and wisdom. She pauses, looks you over slowly, and then flicks a tarot card at your feet. Red musk, vanilla bean, pomegranate, patchouli leaf and wild plum. My review... INSTANT LOVE!!!!! I just knew from the description and idea that I was gonna love this one and hey presto! Morairty is sooo gorgeously sexy! It smells slightly medicinal at first and there's a green tinge from the patchouli...but that soon disappears, it does smell very spicy and red and really does conjure an image of this mystical female fortune teller. The red musk & plum are the predominant notes mostly, but there's also a fruitiness to it. It's deep and very addictive, I can't stop smelling my hand. There are some similarities between this and black phoenix's "snake oil" for sure. It's the way that it's sensual and exotic. It's like an more masculine version of Snake Oil, with less vanilla and a lot more spice! I want another bottle before it disappears, this is definitely in my top ten Black Phoenix oils.

And that is exactly what I get. a very sensual and mysterious scent indeed.

I adore the uniqueness and individuality in the BPAL perfumes.Every scent has it's own story, personality. Mme.Moriarty is a dark, seductive, sensual and mystichal women with wisdom but full of life. She knows what she wants an she knows how to get it. Sweet and warm mixture of the spices and fruits. In the first moment plum, patchouli and a touch of pomegranate opens with a softly medicinal feeling. But it's dissapears quickly and musk, vanilla and powerful pomegranate notes warms the scent.I feel a hint of light incense note in the drydown. Mystical, dark, slightly spiced vanilla aroma with pleasant fruitness(pomegranat and cherry!!!) in the base. Mistique and darkness. Well blended, complex scent.Liquid temptation.

Madam Moriarty, Misfortune Teller from BPAL's Carnivale Diabolique series is the dark fruit of thickly sugared plum jam, tart pomegranate & redcurrant wine, and the spiced, earthy incense of red musk and patchouli enhancing and emboldening the berries and stone fruit, rendering them that much more lush and sticky. I am not a fancier of fruity fragrances, but even I can admit that is an objectively beautiful scent and there's a good reason it's a cult favorite.

I recently got a little vial of this as a gift with purchase, and I liked what I smelled! The patchouli is strong and heady, and the fruity notes add to the scent. The musk is also nice in the dry down, and I'm enjoying the development. It hasn't knocked me out yet, so I don't see myself hunting this one down. It is nice, but not amazing.

i finally have this, when i put this on my skin i expected something like by killian's laisons dangereuses with vanilla but this madame smelled different then i thought.. kinda minty vanilla' is i can't explain, its not bad but i guess i need to get used to this *keeps sniffing* ;)
