Moto Oud

This truly does smell like of those old low rider Indians that you might’ve pulled out of your grandpas garage while visiting him for the summer to borrow his bike. The smell of heavily worn and tanned leather hitting you hard as it attempts to relay the former memories that were made on it. Then as you pull the hot bike out into the warm sun and prop it up. Taking a seat a little bit away to just admire the hissing cicada hum and low evening hustle and bustle of cars. The heat of metal, oil, leather, rubber, all vying for control yet in harmony with a backbone of the faintest oud. Then after a bit you stand up, geto onto the bike, and kick start it. The smell of oil, metal, and rubber take over the leather as you put your sunglasses on, and make sure you know where you gotta go to meet your buddies after getting back for summer. This is my 3rd love from the house of blackbird. Blackbird seems to tell a pretty amazing stories with their perfumes. I still think you should check it out and try it for yourself first! This one is pretty high up if I start collecting blackbird (which might just happen), but I don’t think this will be a cop for a hot second. Still love it tho. Will cherish my sample.

I love this. It smells exactly like it should based on its name. Initially, I get motor oil and smoke. It's not really a woody smoke. It's more of a city smoke. After a bit, the motor scent moves to the background and is accompanied by leather and a resinous oud. Essentially, this smells like a bustling city in a part of the world where oud is very popular, and you catch the scent in the air layered with exhaust as people walk by. It's quite atmospheric. I wish it were slightly stronger, but I believe I wear it so much that I've grown used to it, and other people can probably smell it on me more than I can smell it on myself.

Me, a woman, actually loves this scent. Granted, the opening might be a bit difficult and smells like tires, vinyl, and gasoline. I happen to actually enjoy those smells too (but wouldn't want to smell like that personally). But the dry down is this great, clean incense and resin aroma, with zero sugary crap. It feels really strong to me. I would actually wear this one. I don't get anything metallic! I do get the sense of a fire that's been put out and is still smoldering. This fragrance reminds me of Mandy Aftel's Cuir Gardenia, sans the floral elements in that one. I like this better.

As other reviewers have already described, this is quite an industrial scent. To me, it evokes a desert landscape, dry wood, and metal and I've just really fallen in love with this fragrance; although, friends have told me it smells more like pot to them. Out of bottle it smells more woodsy like dry, douglas fir kindling, but it dries down with a metallic and oil tinge like power tools. This fragrance is an oxymoron - it's a blend of notes that would seemingly contradict one another, but I find myself to be drawn to and fascinated by it.

I enjoy this. I would say it's not for everyone. To me, I get a dirty leather vibe. If anyone is familiar with "Hemp and leather" by Rob vangogh, the smell is in the same realm. I get a sour oud - maybe a tiny hint of sweetness within the depth, although definitely not a sweet fragrance. I do agree that it has a bit of an industrial feel - cold and maybe even a bit harsh to some. At any rate, I'm a fan of the more daring fragrances, which I feel this would qualify. Will definitely explore this house a bit further. 6/10

Resinous incense... I'm not sure if this is oud but i get much of cypriol, incense, and cooling spices. This is more of a funky modern spicy blend labelled as OUD. I get sweet amber as well and kind of caramel too. An interesting spicy sweet blend, and i believe this blend is superbly pretty in this time of the year, sensual, cozy, and very much infront of the fireplace kind of blend. Beautiful.

Love this one. My wife smelled it in the bottle and immediately, solemnly, and very butchly sprayed it on herself without a word. Hot! The notes here are so masculine that it approaches a level of camp, imo. Peppery, rubbery leather oud with only a little sweetness working its way into the skin after. A Hollywood caricature of a grease monkey. Love.

Closest a fragrance has come to giving me that true "industrial" quality feeling. Motor oil, leather, cold tools, and oud. I have the roll-on and it projects excellent and lasts on my skin 10-12 hours.

Cold, semi-medical, emphasized synthetic oud wrapped in tape. My first (and already discontinued) Blackbird vapours from the skin with a poisonous and diminished undertone of slightly sweet yellow flowers and maybe fruits like a banana but not so much tightened by oud like as leather and resins. These resins are also cold, frozen, industrial, with a touch of rust; skin is processed, smelled not very pleasant chemicals, under which the tar topic later appears. Well, in general, here isn`t a single naturalistic note. But it goes quite elegantly and smoothly to the base and it doesn’t change so much, but sufficiently softens (here banana, frankincense and oud become most noticeable), while it sits close to the skin and does not live very long. It is rather strange applied to any situation or mood and hardly throws adequate parallels to other compositions (only a comparison with Oud 27 Le Labo comes to mind, but completely devoid of animalistic), it is clearly a conceptual perfume in the creation of the research spirit soared over sobriety and over the art of the composition.

I'm not normally a fan of Oud, but I love Blackbird and want to get my hands on anything they release. This isn't my favorite scent of theirs, but its still pretty intriguing. The only word that comes to mind is industrial. Makes me feel butch wearing it. LOL

When a sheikh and an oil field love each other very much... Admiral General/Prime Minister Haffaz Aladeen from The Dictator wears this.

this opens with a very realistic car leather scent, even has that slight sweatiness of leather cleaner and the rubber of tires. i know some people like car smells, but i genuinely don't, and so this is very offputting for me personally. i don't get any smokiness or oud from this, just basically leather and rubber. there's a hint of peppery spice and maybe resin that come out more over time, but they remain very subtle compared to the leather. that sharp sweaty note really bugs me

Moto Oud smells like the back corner of a big box store, somewhere between the automotive section and the little outdoor greenhouse section that opens up into the store. Latex gloves, rubber hoses, oil cans, mixed with something that smells like cool stone and a synthetically cleaned bag of potting soil. There's a gentle waft of burned leaves in the far off distance, mixed with the hint of plastic or singed wires without smelling acrid or toxic. The smoke that is there is just a remnant, like if you walked into a cave hours or days after a small campfire. It's a cool mineralic cave like waft over top slightly warm and dry wood mixed with black oily leather that dried out. Like a black leather boot being ground into a gravel roadside ditch in the middle of the night. Night breaks into a peaceful grey day in the country side, and in the end this smells pretty good. It's woody leather smoothness after a slight cursed night vibe that passes without casualty. The chilled cave entrance makes way for what reminds me of rocks in a wood sauna that was built with birch rather than cedar. Interesting and wearable if you like this style.

This is probably my favorite scent out of Blackbird that I've tried. Why? Well, for one: it's honest. What do you think of when you hear "Moto Oud"? Yep, it smells exactly like that: oud, leather, motor oil. I know a lot of perfumeries go for the lyrical description, and sometimes those poetic renderings fall short, BUT Moto Oud is exactly as advertised. It smells like you just fixed your bike while wearing a leather jacket. Despite the industrial scent, I don't necessarily find this to be a "cold" scent—the leather and woody notes are quite warm. I find this to be very handsome and a lot of fun. It might be a little adventurous on some, but I don't think it's too eccentric. Out of all the Blackbird scents, I find Moto Oud has one of the best sillage and longevities too. Some of the other ones have those aromachemicals that go pretty flat and fade away quickly, but this one is overall just a great perfume.

Everything about this perfume tells me I should hate it. And yet. It is strangely intriguing with a surprisingly beautiful and wearable dry down. Smells of gasoline. Cozy winter gasoline scent. It’s 1000x better than Tar by CDG

It's nice, but it kinda just feels like a stripped down version of Targa to me. Unless that's something you're looking for, you're not missing much. Nothing I haven't smelled before.

Kind of disappointed with this one. I like Targa, but this smells like suede and cypriol. And not much else. It's a very simple fragrance... Not as complex as Targa.
