"Almaaz Pure and simple Born in a World where love survives Almaaz Pure and simple Almaaz You lucky, lucky thing." Before 'Almaaz' (or 'Almas' - transliteration issues) meant three things to me. One is the gorgeous song by Randy Crawford. Another is the star in the constellation of the Charioteer that goes dim for a couple of years every 23 years or so. Thirdly, a ship of that name got involved in some diplomatic incident or other a long long time ago ... you've got to be very heavily into history to know anything more than that about it, it was so minor an incident. And now it means a fourth thing - it's the name of this perfume. I was going to get Green Sapphire, but I was introduced to this one at the last moment. The two are very similar, being different only in particular detail. I mean like when two paintings done in a certain very distinctive style are different only in what particular landscape each is of. There is actually another oudy perfume available at the place where I got this - Blue Sapphire, but to my mind that is a different style as well as a different particular landscape. It happens not to appeal to me in the way the first two do, but I would not venture that it is innately inferior. Others may well prefer it, and no doubt do. I am not a great notes-analyst, so really I cannot review this further except by expanding yet more on the virtues of the oud note as I perceive it. There is a notes-analysis type review below, and mine could not be other than inferior to it. So I'll do that then! These two perfumes - GS and this one have brought me a very very long way from finding the oud note dubious; although it does transpire that there have been occasions when I have enjoyed it without realising that I was doing, and I suspect there may be many others. I cannot quite get over the 'trick' that is pulled here - and in GS: the way that it is not so much that the skank is not there anymore, but that it is now actually the CAUSE of the fragrance being such a sparkling and tinkling one, like drops of crystal water plinking into a crystal pool, rather than it being that kind DESPITE the oud note. I think this oud stuff is determined never to let us forget that it originates in rot! No matter what bouleversement that funk of rotten-ness might undergo by virtue both of its own intrinsic glamour, and the acrobatics that the parfumier coaxes it into performing for us, it never quite quite completely surrenders its ultimate identity and lineage. It seems I've become yet another oud poet, sighing and waxing lyrical about it! I'm sure the world has more than enough already!

Spendy, but trust me when I say this is hands down the best fruity-rose-oud combo. We all know (or should know by now) that Boadicea is not going to reinvent the wheel- they are going to take what is already timeless, popular or successful, and elevate it. So I am assuming that those complaining about cheaper alternatives are not familiar with Boadicea a house, or the quality that they offer. I say all that to basically say that Almas was a much needed offering because most fruity-musky-ouds that share similar accords are synthetic and reek of chemicals. I do not find Almas to be synthetic or overly musky at all. In fact, I was concerned that the Oud would be a little to "funky" for day-to-day or office wear. However those feelings quickly disappeared when I was told how good I smelled while wearing Almas around brutally honest family members. While I do not wear perfume for compliments, it does feel gratifying when you love a perfume and others love it on you as well. The opening is a dark seductive, sweet and lightly spiced pineapple rose combo. As it dries down the vanilla and amber harmoniously emerge. There is a temporary mid point where the oud feels a little funky/animalic, but it tampers down and prevents this from being too sacharrine. I would say Almas is 80% linear to the opening spray so if you love the initial sprays, you'll be pleased with the final dry down which lasts and projects for hours on end. Again, spendy stuff but it easily dethrones all other fruity-oud combos.

The first time I wore this, sprayed from my new bottle bought blindly, I recognized the smell. I have smelled this before but can not think where. The more I think of it the more I open my mind to the idea that it was from a past cycle. I have many great scents but since I received this bottle I can not stop spraying it. Predominantly spray on skin but for this one I agree wholeheartedly that applying to fabric is the way to go as it allows the details to be enjoyed during the progression as well as overall longevity. With Almas, the liquid magic can happily live anywhere on my body once its mist is summoned from the bottle. The zesty and tart pineapple paired with rose and a mild Oud is gorgeous. Those notes dominate until the scent cools off and a powdery leather, we can call suede, dusted with the perfect amount of saffron emerges. This spiced suede is formed into a luxurious vintage satchel which radiates its wisdom through a sweet musk full of earthy and woody tones. The satchel holds the roses, juicy diced pineapple and woods (Agar and Santal) like a cornucopia most closely associated with Thanksgiving here in the US. An appropriate image for this beautiful creation.

Exquisite and potent, Almas wears differently each time. My first impression was pineapple-rose-oud that morphed into coriander and labdanum. I wasn't thrilled with the heavy labdanum drydown but kept my decant to try again later. There is something bewitching about Almas that kept calling to me, so I wore it a second time, spraying the back of my neck instead of my chest. Now it's apricot (not pineapple), rose, oud, and jasmine with a touch of cardamom and a wormwood bite. It smells somewhat dated, reminding me of Tresor with a heavy Middle-Eastern slant. I now love it though. I will probably never buy a full bottle, but can tell you that Almas smells like - and performs like - the better part of a grand. Update: I've gotten two compliments on this already. While potent rose-oud, it's so finely executed that if not oversprayed, it leaves a pleasant trail.

I love this fragrance. Bright pineapple and cassis sparkle at first, then saffron, rose and cardamom melt that brightness into warm, honeyed incense. The base is pure, tactile seduction. Oud and amber press close like a velvet glove, suede and sandalwood smooth every edge. Vanilla and white musk soften the trail into something intimate and skinlike. It is densely concentrated (do not overspray) yet it settles into the skin and lasts all day, leaving a lingering trail that draws compliments. Oriental, opulent, and quietly magnetic, Almas feels like wearing a secret worth keeping. It brings to mind Bouquet Ideale by Casamorati, only Bouquet Ideale is softer and blooms with greater sweetness and floral intensity.

Definitely my favourite from this house. Opens with a beautiful, very slightly animalic oud that is present throughout the wear. At the top there is a slight fruity twist from the pineapple. I then detect saffron spiced with cardamom. As it dries, a rose starts to shine through paired with a slight freshness from the neroli. It dries down into a faint soft leather/suede note and oud. Very slightly sweetened by vanilla, brightened by amber and given depth by patchouli. The oud loses its animalic touch as it dries and becomes very smooth. This is extremely well crafted. It is opulent and regal. I’d imagine this being worn by a royal. It’s not very linear and I enjoy the journey of the scent.

I recently blind-bought Almas. When I first sprayed it, I immediately knew it reminded me of something else in my collection. Then it hit me - Nefs by Nishane. While they’re not identical, they do share maybe a half-dozen notes and gave me a similar impression. To be clear, they both smell amazing. And they’re both elegant and classy. There are enough differences between the two that owning both is not redundant. Enthusiastic recommendation from me.

Almas is a masterpiece! A pure addicting suede, infused with layers of oud, rose, sweet vanilla, warm amber & sandalwood....Each note turns over perfectly into the next. Encompassing one in a world of beauty, depth, warmth & comfort. Suede, I never knew you can be so beautiful! Definitely masculine. Definitely feminine. Definitely for me and you. What a great fragrance. All the notes are so well blended and refined. This is concert and applause in a bottle. Very long lasting on clothes. The scent as such isn't unique but the refinement, blend and the quality of ingredients certainly are. Decidedly Arabic fragrance but the oud part isn't too strong. This has pineaple in the opening. And that fruity note is missing in Torc. Try it

Just bought and I really like it. I wanted a fragrance to match my lifestyle and personality which is one of success, yet very grateful! This fits the bill. The notes are first class and this will set you apart from the pack. On clothes, the projection and sillage are off the scale! Worth every penny. Or, should I say dollar!

Really like this one and it's on buy list. The pineapple is mixed with smokey Oud, roses, and spices. Very elegant, unique and leans masculine.

Reminds me of Dior Oud Isphahan. But Almas is way better, it’s lighter “in a good way” and won’t give you a headache like Oud Isphahan

A very nice and elegant but slightly redundant chypre style offering from Boadicea, this perfume showcases a lovely rich amber. The perfume opens with aromatic notes of cardamom, artemisia, coriander, cassis, pineapple, and saffron. The heart is brief and all floral composed of geranium, rose, jasmine and neroli. The perfume settles on a dense powdery amber surrounded by hints of Oud, patchouli, leather, musk, and sandalwood. The perfume has moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. A lovely and even addicting but familiar olfactory experience and must try for amber lovers. Enjoy!

Say whatever you want about this perfume, but it is so unabashedly copied fro middle eastern market; I guarantee you will find the SAME scent for £16 at petrol stations across the U.A.E. I repeat THE SAME SCENT....Thanks to Allah for Samples, otherwise I would be choking mercilessly if this was a blind buy!!!

In spite of the complex list of notes, this is first and foremost a musk perfume. Fruit and rose haters will be fine with this, so long as they enjoy musk. I might go as far as to say you *must* like musk to enjoy this offering. The fruit and floral notes lend the opening a mild sweetness that isn't enough to bring this fragrance into typical feminine territory, but it might give some people pause. There is the teeniest hint of rose throughout, but it's barely detectable and serves to soften the sharp dustiness of the synthetic musk(s). It's ultimately a familiar scent to people who have sampled a lot of musk fragrances, and I doubt it's worth the high cost of a full bottle. On the plus side, a small sample will last a while since this scent sticks around for all eternity once applied.

This really is like being in the presence of angels. The roses are so heavenly, the sandalwood so cosy and comforting, and the vanilla childlike and carefree. It's as if a little cherub in tiny little suede moccasin booties says googoo gaga and everyone else in the room coos 'aah, what a sweet baby'. I wish that everyone could experience the joy I get from this bottle. It's unparalleled. Normally I like dark animalic leathery shockers that make one want to aherm touch onesself, but this is nothing of the sort. Whatsoever. This is such a magnificent experience, really it is very much a special opportunity to imbibe these truly precious ingredients, drawing them through your grateful nose to nourish your body and soul. But the best thing about this fragrance isn't the twinkling top notes that sparkle like a set of chimes, the floral hello from the rose, the tilt of the suede hat, the slow nod from accross the room of the oud or the melody of the pineapple carried on the air. It's the truly astonishing metamorphosis this all takes when not skin but fabric plays host to the celestial party. For this seems to end quite quietly and politely on the skin, whereas on fabric it just takes on a life of its own and displays characteristics completely unbelievable in their beauty: woody, but indescribably nuanced and untreelike and unwooden, this new unexpected facet is opulent, vanillic, enveloping, delicious, enchanting. And long lasting! I bury my nose into coats I liberally doused which still smell phenomenal and share this quality by imparting this same beautiful aura to the other clothes in the wardrobe it touches. I can't gush enough about this perfume. I would drink it with a straw. I would shoot it straight into a vein. In moments of deep despair this beautiful composition gives hope and a renewed joie d'vivre. Magic. People often resort to hyperbole to describe scents they like for lack of a vocabulary of more appropriate terms, but I assure you there is no hyperbole in this review and this is a masterpiece.

Arabic for diamond, Boadicea’s Almas is the prime essence of luxury, a highly opulent rose oud blend. The scent unfolds on a fusion of fiery saffron and cardamom wrapped around the silkiest pineapple before transitioning into the heart, where the highlights of turkish rose and jasmine shine like precious gemstones exuding an aura of regality, reminiscent to the luxurious interior of immaculate palaces. The dry down reveals the sensually sweet warmth of vanilla and amber paired to Cambodian Oud and patchouli, mingling with the gourmandish touches of pineapple that still linger towards the base. Just like the finest diamonds, Almas is a symbol of purity and perfection, treasures, riches and intellectual knowledge. My final rating : 10/10

I just ordered a 10ml sample. As a Santal Royal unconditional enthousiast, I am really looking forward to try this. Out of all the Rose/Oud fragrances that I have tried over the years, Guerlain's Santal Royal is still the only Rose/Oud fragrance that does not have that weird off smell I get with the others. I've heard a lot of positive feedbacks from a friend whose hairdresser wears this. I am really looking forward to try it and see if my beloved Santal Royal has any worthy competition for my heart.

I just got an official sample from the brand website, it’s so good and smooth strong oud rose scent, I really like but I am glad I tested it first and I usually a blind buy girl It’s so familiar nothing new or unique even though I found it on 456$ full presentation but I really can’t justify the price maybe I would get the 10ml bottle and that sets, just fyi don’t get the sample from the popular samples websites it’s half the price and free shipping on the Boadicea website

The person below me described it really well. I got a bottle and I'm currently wearing 2 sprays on my forearms and it is a beast. It was really puzzling what this would smell like or be compared to, but in my experience it is unlike anything. I would necessarily consider it an original creation. I got it on a deal for 440, so shop around or wait for a sale. Oud Bouquet by Lancome is a close comparison

Almas is good but performance is lacking. It’s a traditional oud/rose/amber Overpriced for what it is I have smelled this before hundreds of times. There is nothing unique about it. It lasted 8 hours as skin scent. Projection and sillage were low. For a cologne this expensive this is unacceptable I am not a fan. And my gf did not care about it either.

I just got a generous sample of Almas. Expecting to love it, I'm a bit disappointed ...too much amber. I used to like amber scents (Prada is one), but quickly found amber to be overpowering amongst other ingredients. I'll try it again, but don't hold out much hope. I still haven't found any Boadicea offering that is as beautiful as Nemer.

I’m not sure what everyone is going on about. It’s ok. Huge dose of synthetic amber and rough synthetic Oud drowns out everything else. Ho hum rose makes an appearance. Similar to spirit of Dubai offerings. Performs well. Smells good from afar. Up close smells like chemicals and spice

There are no words for this. Gorgeous understated rose gives way to a dry down of heaven, which lasts almost forever on fabric or paper. This is jolly expensive but worth every penny; it would suit literally every occasion. Magnificent.
