Blue Sapphire

I just recently acquired a bottle of this beauty from a member here on our very own forum (Thanks Sarah, you're the best!!) I have never tried any Bodacia's scents and I always found it quite odd that they are a top-tier niche house releasing many clones of fragrances by other niche houses, sometimes with half of the performance and double the price. Anyways, let's talk about Blue Sapphire. This is a fragrance that I find to be difficult to classify. This one starts out with citrus, bitter herbs, and sharp florals; it definitely smells like a fougere opening, very old school and like something I would expect someone's grandpa to have had in his wardrobe since the 1960's. As the dry down starts, a lot of those bitter notes fade, the florals change from fresh marigold to an earthy warm chamomile with powdery (jasmine) nuances. I swear, on my skin, a subtle rosewood and cinnamon accord start to develop along with some sweet amber undertones. At this point, this is no longer fougere, but a spicy oriental amber. Over the course of the next hour or so, a chamomile note fades in and out and absolutely magnificent against the cinnamon and what's left of the citrus. For the next 3-4 hours, I am getting rosewood, cinnamon, chamomile, jasmine with a touch of very natural smelling patchouli. There's no note that ruins a composition more for me than a cheap patchouli note, luckily that doesn't happen here. I am not detecting amy real Oud here, but there are certainly some non-descript woody notes grounding the composition. Every so often I get a hint of the bitter opening, but it's definitely no longer the star of the supporting character, it's more of an extra at this point. This is a beautiful crafted creation and expertly balanced. Performance is very good, the entire wear is about 9 hours with very strong projection in the first hour, strong in hours 2 and 3, medium projection in hour 4-5 slowly receding to a skin scent by the 7th hour and just about gone by the 9th. This is not an eternal or nuclear production by an stretch of the imagination, but it is long lasting with strong projection. I imagine people claiming 12+ hours with monster projection are suffering from cognitive dissonance at the prospect of having spent $500+ on this and it not lasting for days on end. As far as who and when this fragrance is for: I would say it's unisex leaning masculine by classic fragrance gender conventions. It's definitely a mature scent, I would say for people in the 30-50 year old range. I would wear this fragrance any time, any day, year round. Maybe go a bit lighter on the trigger in the hottest and most humid days in the summer. It has enough green and citrus notes to work in Summer and the florals definitely keep the woodier notes at bay. Blue Sapphire exudes class and elegance. It smells beyond having one's life together, it smells like you are near the top of the food chain in a corporate structure. It smells like you have money and good taste. It may be difficult for a younger person to pull this one off, but it should be experienced and enjoyed by all. Good job Bodacia, even if this is based on Al Qurashi Blend. Christian Provenzano delivers as he usually does. This would make an outstanding signature scent for someone who can afford it. This is perfect for a white collar worker in his mid-30's that has string goals and ambitions and is speed running the company hierarchy up to CFO before 40.

Boadicea was on my shortlist of perfume houses to try. The rave reviews contrasted by the pessimistic critique; I just had to find out for myself. Valiant was my first purchase (that gorgeous bottle 🥰) and although I wasn’t blown away, I could definitely appreciate the quality and blending within. So I went down the rabbit hole and discovered that BLUE SAPPHIRE, was also one of the more popular perfumes. Tried it at Niche Essence in Toronto and it stuck with me enough to keep an eye out for a bottle in the grey market. Finally got a bottle and upon first spray I was revisited with that pleasant unique smell. I wasn’t blown away with this one either, but knew that it was a beauty. And yes like others have mentioned, the word regal comes to mind. You know that smell you get when you visit a niche boutique store? It’s a mix-mash of perfumes and the stronger middle eastern inspired scents take centre stage. So you really want to purchase one of them, but when you spray it on you’re disappointed because it didn’t live up to the overall scent profile or it does and then turns into a synthetic trash pile in no time. Blue Sapphire doesn’t do that. And you can go heavy on the sprays and it actually smells better and without the headache. Took me several wears to absolutely love this one and I can’t get enough of it now. The opening and mid is kinda like a citrusy cardboard (think pack of baseball cards) almost bubblegum profile. The florals are different than what would typically accompany an oud profile as well. I roll my eyes at everyone who groups everything under the Oud rose fragrance bracket, just because there is oud or rose listed in the notes profiles. It’s unbearable. You can hardly detect rose in this one by the way. And the Oud is not going to be like anything found in a high end artisanal Oud house like Jinkoh Store. But it works. And it’s glorious. Totally unisex and the more I wore it the more blue the perfume felt to me. I’ve worn this in the heat and in the cold and they both work wonders with the colder gaining the tiniest advantage. Lasts all day but in a subtle fashion If you can find this for cheaper than retail, I suggest picking it up. Absolutely incredible.

Let me preface by saying I am very much against clones as a primary source of fragrances/collecting. I think they have utility in that they can be used to live with a scents DNA prior to purchase and also to supplement the real one on off times like work, casual etc. So that's how I got to know the Blue Sapphire DNA , through Alexandria Fragrances Dubai Lifestyle. That said, I found myself picking up a bottle of Blue Sapphire at a discounter for $540. Next to Bonds Andy Warhol and Limited Edition Liquides Imaginaires Liquide Gold, the 3rd most expensive purchase in my collection. Surely I expected either a magnetic cap or lazer precision cut cap and pressured atomizer. Nope, none of the above. In fact the atomizer was cheap feeling as was the cap. Clone quality almost. In fact some clones I know are better in that department. But I digress. As for the scent. I compared it to my Alexandria and to my surprise it was nearly identical save for the more prominent Oud in Blue Sapphire through the Mid. 24 hours later I did a blind smell test on both strips of paper and picked which I believed to be the Boadicea...I picked Alexandria instead. Not only did it smell stronger but the scent was fuller and more vibrant. Overall identical "profiles " but the Alexandria presented it much better. That's the difference. One could argue the Boadicea was slightly smoother but for christ sake you would have to be incredibly picky to even notice. So my conclusion is that Boadicea is ridiculously overpriced and in fact is in the same quality bracket as a higher end clone brand. What a disappointing experience this has been, and I am biased against clones. If your thinking about getting this grab a sample of both and make an informed decision which is for you. As for smell. It starts woody/lemon/sage fresh with a "blue " feel. But the oud gives this alot of depth. Later the rose come out but more a candy rose mixed with sour lemon/woods drying down with little transition other than loosing some sour vibrancy. The Scent is absolutely phenomenal no two ways about that. It's pure royalty, rich elegance. But not worth more than $250 for 100ml.

Amazing!!! For me Provenzano rewrites the Oud/Rose book here with Blue Sapphire. This fragrance is quite simiply stunning. Why am I not surprised that this nose is responsible for many of the recent Boadicea line as well as Clive Christian C for Men. He's done something here which is akin to Amouage and the take on roses displayed in Lyric. It's a light touch which lets the ingredients tell their own story in a very understated way. I say understated, the strength and projection on Blue sapphire is massive for the first couple of hours then dying back to a lovely skin scent. Opens with quite possibly the stickiest, jammiest, rose tinted, candied effect I think I've ever encountered. This opening is somehow fresh too, as is the rest of the fragrance, still warm but not stuffy and constantly invigorating. It reminds me of tropical fruits as well and even a touch of Bella Bellisima White Leather. Having said that it never tips over into the cloying, Blue Sapphire is perfectly balanced, I have a suspicion this is what heaven smells like. Deep Amber warmth in the base, can't say I can smell patchouli at all in here and there's hints of magic which I'd be a fool to try to describe. Two things which could be conceived as negative... 1) The price. I'm certainly not going to be splashing out on this anytime soon. 2) Also could be perceived as feminine, because it is... VERY FEMININE. I actually don't care about that because it smells so good. The drydown may also be reminiscent of some more common fem-fare but that's generally because you've already journeyed as far as you can and the vibrancy of that opening is a distant memory. Bravo Boadicea you've done it again!

Okay so after a long series of longevity & sillage tests I finally purchased BTV blue sapphire. This juice is BEAST of beasts. Not gonna lie, scent lingers on the skin for approx 24 hours even after a good shower . Till date I had only heard of such perfumes. (nothing stays on my skin type for more than 3-4 hours) Sillage bubble is enormous. Like you’ll move thru a place and people will keep catching a whiff of it. Fills up the elevator types. Now coming to the scent, it’s a beautiful blend with a great middle eastern vibe thrown over citruses. I love it. You get citrusy florals in the start , dries down to a beautiful dark oud & rose combo. The opening stays for easy 2-3 hours. I started my hunt for my first niche category perfume months ago tried a ton of other brands like creeds, ROJAS and thameens... nothing comes even closer to longevity and projection. I also tried electimuss auster which allegedly is a cheaper version of it, wore both side by side. Yes they are a bit similar but BTV is more intense, dark & oudy. Performance is day and night different. This perfume is mad expensive hands down , but in my line of work I cannot keep reapplying fragrances all day so went with it & quite happy. The only downside I felt was atomiser & presentation could be tad better. Got it from $522. So won’t buy anymore fragrances for atleast 10-12 months. Peace. (Haven’t tried al quershi blend so no idea how close it is, heard it’s performance isn’t that good)

This new addition to my collection is presented in a stunning royal blue glass flacon that hints at the mysterious beauty of a gemstone, it features the signature Boadicea The Victorious pewter, this time plated in gold and adorned with a certified blue sapphire stone.💎 The composition is like a candied citruses laid upon a bed of sweet honeyed florals spiced up with saffron, herbs and amber with a leather-rose-oud patchouli mix to die for as the base of the fragrance. It is spectacular but honestly not easy to wear. Unless you are a King, a Sultan or an ambassador somewhere in the Middle East, you will not be able to pull this fragrance like it is your everyday scent.😊 This is for special occasions when you don’t want to give any chance to your potential fragrance competitors.😅 Blue Sapphire is with its other brother interlude Man by Amouage, another blue beast in terms of performance. If you spray on clothes it could stay easily a month on them.😊 Overall an oriental masterpiece and quite a luxurious pricey one, but worth it for those who are into unique things in life. This one I promess I will spray with caution.😅🤦🏽♂️

Price aside, this fragrance is phenomenal. I picked up a decant quite a few years ago and have only worn this sporadically....mainly at home due to COVID. Since I've been going into the office more, I've had more opportunities to give it a full wear. Because the projection and longevity are nuclear, I only have to apply 3-4 sprays. Smelling this up close on skin or clothes can be a little off-putting but the sillage is what garners the attention. It's mysterious and non-offensive....unless you go ham with the sprays!! Oud, saffron, rose, and amber.....that's what my nose picks up. It does lean on the masculine side of unisex but I think can be worn by women, too. If you wear this to the office, go light with the sprays. Very much a shirt/tie or casual wear fragrance but would kill with suite/tie. Is it full bottle worthy? In my opinion, no. BTV prices are insane. Most of their frags are borderline nuclear and can get years out of a 10ml decant. Cheers!!

I had a handwritten sample of this in my collection from a year ago. At the time, I don’t know how I missed this. I think each bottle needs to macerate for a few months which is why I think I was not impressed initally. But I sprayed this yesterday before sleeping, and my hair and clothes were still as strong as ever 8.5 hours later. I headed to NM the next day and had to have the bottle. This is the type of fragrance that changes your emotional state. I have a full collection of niche perfumes, and nothing, I mean nothing, comes close to this. She is elegant, fierce, rich, and powerful. The sillage is incredible, and there is nothing like it anywhere.

This is different and it's great. The blend, the herbal oudy-flowery profile is very appealing to me and easy to love if you are into fragrances. I doubt this would be mass appealing, in fact it might be the opposite. But I can see the appeal and would love to own it if the price would be around 250 eur. Honestly the price really hurts this one, price-value usually tapers down on fragrances the more the price goes up and this one is no exeption. There are few reasons to ever pay this much for a perfume but I love the profile, blend and the ideea of this perfume. It's a great one, the price is the only deal breaker for me.

This is such an intriguing scent - the best thing for me is the dry down which turns into an herbaceous, green and smooth smell. I wonder is the combination of sage and patchouli combining to smell like tennis balls which I absolutely love - maybe it’s just an associated smell of summer days with all the flowers in this. I absolutely love it. The top is bright with lemon and then very camomile heavy and not so much for me, but the dry down with this longevity and sillage is insane. Probably not worth the price (is any fragrance truly worth that?) but it’s phenomenal.

Theres something almost but not quite incense like about this. I like incense but wearing it always makes me feel a little unclean since incense smoke gets everywhere and clings. Im wearing it at day when this feels much better for night and its not quite fall yet when this would be better for winter. I like the freshness to the aromatics. Well blended and smooth. Leans masculine. I would prefer this on my husband. Interestingly I caught no citrus from this, unless that was what was making the herbs smell spicy on opening- but it didn’t smell of lemon.

Great White floral scent which can be worn by either 30+ (gentle)men, or/and women. This is not for the younger crowd. I bought 10ml for 80 euro's, which CAN carry you throughout the season, bc of the great longevity and sillage. Of course we see the oud/rose combination, like we see in so many frags. So thats not very unique. What is more unique tho, is the chamomile and marigold with this combi. It's a shoulder season fragrance for me. Not a winter nor summer frag. Scent: 7.5 Versatility: 6.5 Longevity: 8 Sillage: 8 Uniqueness: 7.5

Today, I went with the intention of buying Boadicea Bodacious, then changed my mind to Green Sapphire, but left the store with Blue Sapphire instead. This is beast mode top quality citrus-floral-woody-oud-chocolatey patchouli fragrance at a murderously expensive price. Despite the undeniable niche quality, it is still way overpriced. But if you want to smell like British royalty and can afford it, go for it. 9/10 (10/10 if not for the overprice).

I have above 400 perfumes if not above 500 and I tell u blue saphair is so unique and different in a very lovely way. Frist oud fresh take I saw ! Never believed oud can be a fresh scent ! Usually when they say it is oud fresh it doesn’t smell oud at all. However , blue saphair does that amazingly Blown away the moment I smelled it. Very elegant rich luxury scent to wear in special occasions when u want to impress .

ASQ Qurashi blend is muted compared to this no depth and detail vs. Blue Sapphire and I am starting to think the same perfumer for both. Regardless I have both and the scent is so special I only use it for special occasions when I want to smell regal. I usually am a heavy sprayer not so with Blue Sapphire 4 to 5 sprays lasts all day and night with excellent projection as well. ASQ Qurashi is muted in comparison.

Blue Sapphire is a luxurious signature scent for mature ladies and gents, opening has potent lemon and complex floral, when its dry down the oud, amber and a little bit animalic vibe, very long lasting and strong projection, it is very expensive, so try before you buy, I absolutely love it Blue Sapphire is 9/10 ps : this is not the typical oud and rose combo and definitely not for the youngster

Its an upscale dupe of ASQ Al Quraishi Blend. I've owned both this probably projects a little better. IMO not worth the difference you pay. I’ve editted this post since ASQ have come out with Qurashi Blend Blue which is clone of this. Clone wars on another level any value left in Blue Sapphire definitely now outweighed by the price ASQ Qurashi Blend Blue. On offer could be had for around $125.

Definitely not a new DNA or profile scents to me. Sharp white floral with Oud. Many will talk about the rose /Oud soapy impressions but to me is more of a sour candy at first that later became a bit more sweet with an ambery undertones. Extremely potent and only for formal occasions . Would I buy it again? I hope the full bottle I have last me for ever bc it’s expensive, so I’m not sure.

Coromandel with dark chocolate Unlike others, I don't get much of the oud... but a lot of patchouli. The flower notes give the amber-patchouli combination a touch of feminine elegance, which I didn't aspect. This made me love the fragrance even more. To me, Blue Sapphire is very sweet, so much that it remeinds me of a darker version of Coromadel by Chanel.

Christian Provenzano's masterpiece. A fragrance that is like nothing else. The most intense plume and persistence. It will always have an honorable place in my top 3 fragrances. I absolutely love this fragrance – the opening is phenomenal, the dry down is smooth – it’s turns into my favourite oriental fragrance – unfortunately is the price a bit too high for my pockets and becomes this only a fragrance for “very” special occasions or I have to replace it by a perfume oil

Wow great stuff!!!! when i saw the price i was a bit disapoint since i dont know if i can convince myself to pay a exorbitant price like this but its realy realy good buble gum in a botle but not to sweat juste nice and wearable!! botle worthy maybe a crthismas gift! too fiminine maybe!

This is beautiful, what is that velvet? I tried about 10 Bodicea today and this is one of my favorite. The retail price is outrageous; 905.00 retail!? GTFO! I'm going to try ASQ Qurashi. Scent 9/10 Performance TBD Edit: drydown is not as good as that magic opening and mid.

Boadicea either do it very wrong, or very good, and this one is outstanding. It's a blend of Oud, Taif Rose, Orange and Saffron. It long lasting dry down is a soft gentle Oud with a touch of rose. Very complex and intense in the best way possible ★★★★★

Lol. Reading some of the reviews. This is spectacular. Aromatic herbal bliss. Is it worth the price? 🤔 Hell no. But it is a high quality fragrance, that is unique and potent. If you drive a Rolls Phantom, get this quick. If not, there are clones....

Heavy rose syrup and oud undertones. I dont get any lemon. nose can tell bit of flowers though. Very sweet, rich, opulence kinda fragrance. I can see it worn nicely on my women as well. Use sparingly, way too strong, enough to cause headache.

@Hadi Koko..After hearing the late Kevin Samuels talk about "Blue Sapphire" so much I gave in and did a blind buy BUT after just one sniff of that smell good I immediately ordered a back up bottle.🔥💰👍🏼💯😎

I tested this fragrance and was immediately impressed. I loved the oud, patchouli, rose, and sage. It feels very regal when I wear it and is good to wear all-year-round. This is my first Boadecia.

Very nice unique scent. Slightly sweet citrus and blue cotton candy top note with a nice woodsy and smoke dry down. Top Shelf Fragrance.

Wow perfume. An aromatic scent that caresses the nose for long hours. The perfume has presence, people knew you were coming. 9.5/10.

Amazing fragrance to wear when you want to make a statement. Just for the record, it is a copy of Al Qurashi Blend by ASQ.

One of the BEST! I can wear this year round BUT for summer heat,2 spray is good for me.

Very Nice Perfume .........loooooooooooove it.

This one's not for me, just from a personality standpoint. With fees and shipping from Harrods it also costs about eight hundred dollars, which feels weird to type because I remember when I was a kid and what I'd say if someone asked me how much I thought something really valuable was worth, and I'd be like, "probably like a thousand dollars." Well, this is just shy of that hyperbolic childhood sentiment. I'm fairly sure twelve-year-old me would fly off the handle at my adult self if I ever bought this fully knowing how many video games I could have purchased with that money. But I think this is very pleasant, and I'm enjoying smelling it while I have the sample on. Like I said, the particular combo of elegance and exoticism, or what my nose perceives as that, and assertiveness doesn't align with how I feel when I'm just walking around day to day, so it's an easy pass, but people out there love this, and rightfully so. On me I'd label it a chamomile oud, both of which are notes I enjoy, and here they're both employed in a surprisingly fresh and bracing context. It lasts REALLY well too, and it evolves over time to where the oud becomes tamer and you get a lot more of the sage and magnolia than you do on the front end. The chamomile combined with the florals gives a kind of Light irisy effect. It screams quality, and I think it's really creative as well, but I'm just not the man for this perfume. But I can tell you something about that guy-- he has a thousand dollars to blow, and hopefully for his sake a lot more than that in his bank account if he's considering pulling the trigger on this guy. Sample first at the very least.

This is a very interesting fragrance. To me, its quite animalic so it might have real ambergis in it. Its balanced really well. The performance is fantastic for the genre of fragrance that this represents. The price is insane and I am not in love with the scent, but I highly respect the blend for sure. Ill give it a 7.75. Ill revisit when it starts to warm up to see what other notes shine. For now, its headed to the back of the drawer. Ill probably seek out more from this brand and I don't think the quality of ingredients can get much better than this and its apparent to me that they know how to put them together.

A super refined woody Oriental scent that radiates delicate positive energy. The perfume opens brightly with citrusy herbal notes of lemon, chamomile, sage, saffron and tagetes. The heart is a delicate floral rose, jasmine and magnolia. It settles into a gorgeous powdery base of oud, patchouli and amber. The unisex perfume has moderate to strong sillage, subtle projection, and extremely good lasting power. Such lovely blending, so elegant and classy, just like a sparkling blue sapphire. My favorite from the superb house of Boadicea. Enjoy!

Oh how the nose comes a long way. When I first smelled this, I thought it smelled like sweet piss straight up. Fast forward a couple years, and now I can appreciate this fragrance much more. It is still not my style, I think it’s very opulent and has a lot of depth, but it doesn’t particularly suit my fashion or personality. But I do like how it smells now compared to when I first smelled it. A lot of Bodicea fragrances took some coming around to and this is no exception, not a beginner fragrance

Very clean oud with aromatics and floral notes. Leaning masculine. Longevity is very good and projection is also over average. Herbal notes with florals gives it an aldehydic feel to it that makes it an easy scent to wear all year round skipping hot summer days. Price however is like ouch! Although it's a very nicely blended fragrance, but way overpriced for what it is. Definitely unique also. A confident woman can pull this off easily. If you can overcome the price tag, I would recommend this

Christian Provenzano strikes again. I fell in love with his perfumes since Clive Christian C. BtV Blue Sapphire is an absolute beast in projection and longevity. For some reason I get notes of sweet myrrh in the dry down. Must be the agar wood and the amber. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10 Absolutely superb fragrance. Not a blind buy as it is not for everyone but definitely worth testing. Smell it, like it, buy it wear it.

Gemini recommended me this to be my bridal scent, as I told him I'll wear sapphire jewelery. Very very very very expensive, royal- like citrus. As citruses are very opposite to my taste in fragrances, I try them frequently to see if I'm biased or not, still, never smelled any citrus that high quality. The pyramide would be like; Sharp citruses Creamy citruses Aromatic citruses, almost minty

A nice fragrance with dominant green notes. I can smell at the beginning oudy notes which then settle down and become only slightly detectable. Amber and wooods become more prominent, green notes remain all the time. Longevity is very remarkable as the scent is good detectable on my sleeve four weeks after applying.

This is a very unique perfume. I can’t think of it as unisex, it is very masculine! (In a good way) It is a very expensive perfume but also smells very expensive which I love on a man, I feel that it’s the kind of perfume for confident people only. The bottle looks ugly, I hope this brand does something about it.

Very elegant and pleasing fragrance. Very versatile. Quite similar in profile and performance with Taif Al Emarat’s Kuwait, ASQ’s Al Qurashi Blend and Auster by Electimuss. Above average projection and longevity. Shukran Habibi!

Its not good when there is more discussion about the price than the fragrance itself. However, if you can get your hands on some samples, I dont think you will be disappointed in the least.

Oudy scent which is beautiful and strong but not up to the hype for me. The patchouli drydown was really too much for me, and so it’s just a like.

Very well blended - it's very bright and juicy yet dark & woody/floral as well. I could see this being cloying - it's very strong & sweet.

Oud Silk Mood with some extra piss, both fresh and stale, like a piss-soaked mattress sprayed with expensive air freshener.
