Defender

Today I found myself traveling to West Virginia for work, and instead of saving Defender by Boadicea the Victorious for a special moment, I decided to wear it—after all, every day should feel special. Dressed confidently in my skinny black jeans, sleek ankle boots, and a loose white cotton shirt accented boldly with bright red lipstick, I felt an incredible surge of empowerment the moment I applied this fragrance. Defender is an Oriental Floral fragrance that's intriguingly unisex yet profoundly personal. From the very first notes, it exudes strength balanced delicately with elegance, wrapping me in a luxurious aura that felt both comforting and exhilarating. The blend of floral softness against a deep, oriental warmth created an atmosphere around me that spoke of boldness and sophistication. Throughout my day, Defender continued to captivate, providing a consistent yet evolving aromatic experience. This is one of the epitome of perfumery that I have acquired to-date. I have Amouage Jubilation 40 and King Blue that I felt were luxurious, Boadicea Defender is another. It opens with spicy, honeyed, boozy red berries notes that made my mouth water the first time I tried it yesterday. I knew then I had to obtain it though I find the price quite steep. I bought a full bottle today. Its much more expensive than Jubilation 40 and King Blue...almost their combined price in Nigeria and I don't think this should be more expensive than Amouage Jubilation 40. Then the packaging is awesome. It oozes class and elegance. Even the Boadicea sales person confessed she had never seen anything like it when I opened it.

As an avid fan of Boadicea, first I may say, the packaging and presentation of this one is absolutely elevated from even the Sapphire and Zodiac collections by far. It is like you’re unlocking a gem when you open this. As for the juice, a floral boozy honey fragrance with some hints of fruit and woods. This is very good. It is very consistent with Boadicea quality but nothing like I have in my collection. I would absolutely recommend sampling this. This is going to be magic this fall and winter!

The fragrance smells nothing like Angels share!! This is an intoxicating creamy fragrance.

I feel Defender is a spring/summer fragrance. Defender has a buttery aura - a sweet concoction of cherry compote, honey, ginger, cognac, Peru balsam and licorice -- that reminds me of a tart dessert, and jasmine flowers tend to bloom in the spring and summer. The opening of the honey and cognac accord is surprisingly light, likely because of the ginger's spiciness and offering some brightness to counter the honey's richness. Meanwhile, the licorice gives it some texture, so it doesn't come off as animalic. The cherry compote mixes well with the honey and cognac, giving Defender that aforementioned sweetness. The honey and cognac mix also reminds me a bit of Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey, being both warm and comforting. The tonka bean is rich, sweet, and spicy, and the orange blossom is creamy and indulgent, adding that perfect touch of sweetness. Finally, the combination of the hay, leather and musk gives Defender a grounded element that prevents it from being cloying. The fragrance is light enough that it can be worn in warm weather, and in some environments, a year-round fragrance. The only downside so far is that Defender seems to have average projection and performance (a surprise considering Boadicea fragrances are known for their projection and performance). Hopefully, those will improve as the bottle ages. EDIT: I wore Defender after letting it sit for a few months. The scent lasted much longer on me (4 hours projection to a skin scent over a 12-hour window).

Interesting slightly sweet and slightly fruity scent. Only when looking at the notes I realised that these can be red fruits or berries (as they have been represented in scents) that are most prominent here. And they stay like basenotes, they're not only the disappearing top notes as it is with many other top notes. There's definitely more than just berries/fruits that makes it smell posh and expensive but when compared to their other two samples I've tested so far this one is simpler and lighter, not so strong, not so distinctive, but not too generic or cheap-smelling either.

Firstly, this doesn't smell like Angels share AT ALL. It actually reminds me of a more buttery/creamy & more unisex & less fresh version of Initio Rehab. It gives you a thick buttery aura and I do actually like this, although not quite enough to buy. I slightly prefer Rehab due to the more masculine & fresh profile but this is worth sampling as it smells quality. It's not quite my style overall but it's a great fragrance, performs well & will no doubt be pleasing to others too. It's so buttery lol.

This is an absolute banger!. Smells like a white floral, smooth honey. Not the sharp kind you find in Guerlain Tobacco Honey. This fragrance oozes with class and boardaline gourmand elegance. Truly a dressed up scent. Drydown has a slightly nutty creamy effect. Not sure what's causing that but definitely welcomed.

A lovely sweet licorice and cognac opening dries down into a waxy thick matte balsam, reminiscent of the naphthalene sticks my grandparents used to wax their skis. The ingredients come through as high-quality , but the overall composition requires a particularly acidic skin chemistry to become pleasant. Otherwise, feels very sluggish.

while it is a lovely smelling fragrance, i feel it lacks originality. to my nose, it's just Xerjoff's Naxos with some red berries added to the mix. not full bottle worthy in my opinion considering how much they charge for the full bottle

Smells fruity and boozy. Very smooth, but very weak projection and longevity. Personally don't think it's worth the price tag.

This is absolutely gorgeous, rich, delicious... and very similar to many other scents.

The bottle is beautifully presented and has an aura akin to a precious nectar. It almost appears to be glowing but Boadicea have mastered presentation and packing by this point. I am in two minds about the smell though... to start, I cannot understand the comparisons to angels share. I just don't smell it that way on skin or card. It starts almost medicinal, warm and intriguing and certainly sweet. Honey and liquorice swapping places and as it dries down, it warms up further opening to those base notes that are all so familiar. Whilst I am not sold on the opening, I do find myself going back to my wrist, back to the bottle time and time again. Performance on me is moderate, but as someone who owns quite a few from the brand, that is par for the course. I would not recommend a blind buy unless fanatic about the brand

This is gorgeous! I attended a BTV event at Neiman Marcus today and instantly fell in love with this. The honey and red berries translated prominently but smoothly on my skin out the gate. The night-blooming jasmine came out a little later. It smells like Mizensir For Your Love (my all time favorite fragrance) with honey and NBJ added. She had to come home with me. I also got a 10 ml in a cute replica bottle as a gwp. It's so cute and tiny. It is suitable for everyday wear -- to the office or date night. It's boozy without smelling like a distillery. If you like Bodacious, Angel's Share, you'll like this one, especially since it's far less booze in this one than the aforementioned. I dare say it's blind buy safe. Don't let the name fool you! It's unisex but does lean slightly feminine in my opinion.

With its sweet, candied, fruit mix opening it could be put in the same realm as Äican and Lamar from Kajal and Xerjoffs - Erba Pura. Thankfully, not nearly as "high frequency as Äican. Defender is smoothed out with ambery notes, especially in the dry down. On my skin it comes pretty close to Ormond Jaynes - Bukhara but not as pointy, Bukhara has rose in it with a faint oud that helps it push out, but they are suprisingly similiar in the mid. Worth testing if youre into the kind of fragrances mentioned above, but may not project as much as those mentioned, which may be positive, for me it is since this is not my favourite style of perfumery. The dry down is decent, more refined, more edible, creamy smooth ice tea, but faint. Might edit after a full wearing.

Ignore the negative reviews they are probably from untalented noses . This is perfumery on another level pure and simple , the quality is sublime I'm not entirely sure fragrance can get any better than this a few kilian fragrances come to mind but defender is just so much more sophisticated a very classy fragrance that only serious experienced frag heads will appreciate. The notes are blended to perfection I cannot fault this and I have been collecting for a while I have all the amouage fragrances so I know how controversial fragrance can get in terms of pushing boundaries but this is just stunning !!!!Absolutely 100% intoxicating

Its so cringe leaving false reviews on fragrances you have not smelled. Monkey see, monkey do. Christmas in a bottle; sofisticated and elegant, Defender is "oozing" with quality. The honey is light but spicy which leaves a beautiful impression of a gourmand scent. Can be somewhat comparable to Angels Share by Kilian, but I find Defender much better in terms of longevity and performance. The price is steep but you get what you pay for.
