Lannosea

Lemon is definitely the star player in this ensemble. The supporting roles are played perfectly but are there to support the star. Lannosea would be a knockout home run from Acqua di Parma but is a solid contribution from Boadicea. I mean that in the best way possible. The lemon is done well without bite or becoming cleaning fluid migraine inducing. If you want to smell like a lemon this is what you should aspire to. As the intensity gets dialed down over the first 30 minutes I get an impression of very well thought out yellow florals. There is a mild sweetness that is detectable that enhances the lemon. At the base is a hint of something woody. After reviewing the notes I can see what they mean by oud smoke. Not that the oud smells smoky but that you just get a whiff of mild pleasant oud. Personally I can’t differentiate the leather or coffee beans. The base never really steals the show. The woody slightly oudish base if that is a word slowly builds to a solid support of the lemon and ends being extremely well balanced. This is a fragrance that you can blindly grab on any day or event and feel confident that you will smell great and won’t be mistaken for a designer fragrance. That is where this excels. If you are looking for a strong unique one of a kind divisive Extrait this is not it. I purchased the edp and have not smelled the Extrait version of this. It does perform like an edp. The first time I tried it I got a compliment and the person was standing about 10 feet away from me. Personally I was surprised she could detect it that far. It becomes a skin scent around the 6 hour mark but it varies depending upon the environment and the condition of my skin. I did get it at a discount and I am not sure if I would have paid the full $600 ish price for it. Depending upon how much $600 sets you back you may decide it is worth it. Overall very glad I got it and it was a blind buy. It’s a front row fragrance for me if you know what I’m talking about.

Pretty dang good so far. I just got my sample in from boadicea. Still giving it a test run, but Lemon zest, bergamot (orange) and dates are the major players here so far. I'll be picking this up. Update First 15 minutes smell exactly like lemon heads candy on me. From there it transforms into fruity pebbles cereal. The third and final phase I haven't quite been able to peg down yet. But I'll update again when I do.

I think people’s noses might be broken. After reading some of the reviews for BTV Lannosea, I genuinely have no idea where the "lemon Pledge" comments are coming from. What I get is a very realistic lemon note that has texture to it. It's slightly oily, almost as if you're expressing the peel over your fingers, rather than the sharp, piercing citrus opening that so many fragrances use. It's actually quite lovely. There is some sweetness present, but all the talk about candied or confit lemons isn't what I'm getting at all. And as a chef, I actually know what confit lemons taste and smell like. Thankfully, neither the furniture polish comparison nor the overly sweet citrus profile people describe showed up on my skin. The only explanation I can come up with is skin chemistry or perhaps people are judging it from a paper strip rather than wearing it properly on skin. What really impressed me about this fragrance is that it genuinely delivers distinct transitions throughout the wear. Fragrantica is full of fragrances with listed top, heart, and base notes, but many of them don't actually take your olfactory senses on that journey. Lannosea absolutely does. For roughly the first hour, I get that textured, oily lemon paired with a subtle date-like sweetness. It's unique, engaging, and incredibly pleasant. Then it clearly transforms into something else entirely. This is where things get interesting. Sometimes I pick up a green facet. Other times I notice the orange blossom extending the citrus character. On some wears, I even get a roasted coffee nuance. It's a fun ride because I don't always experience exactly the same thing. A couple of hours later, the base begins to arrive, and this stage is much more consistent. Here I get a refined woodiness with just the faintest touch of what BTV describes as oud smoke. It's subtle, interesting, and every wear has landed in essentially the same place. As for versatility, I think this works in almost any situation. I'd probably avoid extreme heat, but I wore it on a 24°C day and it performed beautifully. Interestingly, it behaved a little differently than it does in cooler weather, which only adds to its charm. To me, this fragrance is underrated and somewhat misunderstood. It's not a fragrance that should be judged from a quick paper-strip test. It's one that deserves multiple wears. Spend some time with it and learn what it's trying to do. Once you understand it, you'll find a fragrance that adds something genuinely different to a collection and works across a surprising number of occasions. I'm also happy to see this direction from BTV. The CP era was starting to feel a bit tired to me. He was never one of my preferred perfumers. Lannosea feels more adventurous, more dynamic, and ultimately more rewarding. A very pleasant surprise.

Creamy, woody lemon that at times becomes Pledge like during the opening. If you let it sit for 15-30 minutes, it is very intriguing. Nothing worth the price but a nice summer night scent.

All I can smell on my skin is bergamot, lemon , lemon zest and little dates in the opening followed by orange blossom elderflower and cedar wood.🙄

A bit like lemon pledge in the beginning , and many interesting notes that all got pushed out of the way by the oud smoke. Maybe the dry down is better , but the initial opening made it a scrubber for me.

Lannosea by Boadicea the Victorious is a flop. It opens like lemon furniture polish you’d use on your grandma’s dining table. The dry-down is surprisingly smooth, but For the cost? Absolutely not worth it.

My husband and I just used the sample for the first time. The opening is so zingy lemony with woody warmth. Another reviewer mentioned lemon heads and fruity pebbles— we said exactly the same thing. This is definitely in a good way. It’s not sticky sweet or childish. The woods balances that out. For me, I keep wanting to smell my husband. We aren’t huge fans of Boadicea overall. As amazing as the bottles are, the ones we have smelled have a hairspray smell in the background that has a sharp bite to my nose. This fragrance is different. We smell a LOT of new things. This may be the first one we decide to buy. I’ll see how the longevity is and then we will decide.

People keep saying Lemon Pledge as if it is a bad thing. You may have the cleaner scent memory, but the scent in Lemon Pledge was intentionally added for appeal to turn a chore of cleaning into a pleasant experience. Lemon Pledge was first sold in 1958 and has made the company billions. I suppose I can relate to this negative nostalgia because I hate patchouli due to its historic usage by disgusting hippies. I honestly think the lemon pledge scent memory will pass in another generation, because people don't use it as much anymore. I predict it will be an appealing scent again in 10-15 years.

Smelled this for a quick second the other day. Right away, it created a scent memory from my honeymoon in Positano last year. Sugared lemons with a lovely fresh woody undertone. Can’t wait to spend more time with this!

Jesus fing Christ this smells so good. To me it's like a lemon pie, a citric gourmand. The deep dry down does bring out the woody aspect , though there is no oud to be detected.Very very nice

Very similar lemon note like 1907. Scent feels more sweet compared to 1907 in drydown. Lemon dates and rum good combination. overall nice scent competitor to angels share on the rokcs.
