Mayfair

A medieval mead drink with extra cloves and spices - and civet juice! :) To my nose, this fragrance is led by (and structured around) a gigantic honey/beeswax note - most of the other elements simply reinforce and highlight aspects of this note, with wood and leather providing a base. For example, the excellently-blended civet enhances and brings out the animalic aspects of the honey. I'm picturing a medieval stable, leather saddles rubbed with beeswax hanging off the walls, the smell of straw, wood and warm animal fur hanging in the air. The dark corners of said stable are the scene of furtive, lusty liaisons... as others have pointed out, this is a very sexy and carnal perfume. Boadicea Mayfair is the fragrance I imagine certain Game of Thrones characters wearing. In fact I'm certain that they do! Very rich and well-blended; smells top-notch and expensive, whilst retaining a certain unpolished, rustic quality. Somehow, it manages to be both refined AND rustic!! Because of its warming qualities and overall richness, I anticipate Mayfair would work best in cold conditions.

BTV Mayfair has become my most worn fragrance. It is animalic amber, with a prominent note of tamed, warm but still slightly fecal and urine like civet. It starts off with a bitter, mouth drying cypriol, spicy honey, and piercing, warm animalistic leathery civet. Cypriol evaporates in 30 mins and the fragrance settles down to golden bed of sweetened tea like civet. Civet urine qualities are more prominent in heat, while tea and leather are more noticeable in cooler weather. Normally I am not wearing more than two sprays of any perfume, but with this I prefer to go harder on the trigger. Which means that the projection and sillage are average, or just above average. Though it stays for whole day as a skin scent and lasts days on clothes. It is gorgeous, decadent and absolutely unisex fragrance. Recommended for those, who are into smooth, elegant animalics.

2 years ago I was looking for something different and then I found Mayfair. It is very potent , provocative ,nocturnal and masculine. I think this perfume was created for the nightlife. I can imagine a sexy and elegant man , the one that has warm and big hands, the one who gives hugs and handshakes intensively. This perfume is not for shy personalities , because if you wear this , all eyes will be over you. I love it , but it could be a monster if it is over applied, and could be cloying in order to create headaches , so in my experience don’t apply it if you are in a hurry, take your time and wear it directly to the skin ( specially put a little bit in those points where you would like to seduce your partner). This perfume has provided me, pleasant and intense romantic memories.

Mayfair, so uncompromisingly seductive. Dirty, woody, dry, animalic alluring perfection. With a drop of labdanum in the opening and the inherently subtle sweetness of floral beeswax, there is just enough nectar in this fragrance to hook me in without ever becoming cloying. At the fore is dry, musky civet and spicy oud, perfectly pitched against the cedar, birch, leather and patchouli. Yes, woody, woody, woody! Vetiver shows a dark rooty facet here that gives great structure and earthy integrity. Oh my word. My heart is exploding at the scent of Mayfair -- meditative and soberingly sexy.

Beeswax candles and church incense burnt in a wooden stave church. There's a strawlike undertone, or maybe it's an animalic tone that reminds me of animals' cages with straw. Medieaval.... nice. On account of all this wood, a fairly masculine scent but without any sharp edges. Intensely comforting.

Wow, this is powerful. Animalic oud, cypriol heavy, some sweet beeswax, herbal patch, some leather; this is overwhelming and intense like Complex is. A powerhitter that I love.

Better than leather oud if you like a tad less animalic notes, and a little more beeswax. Incredible stuff! As perfect as it gets!

Unexpectedly, my colleague comments that it smells very sweet. I think that it just special case for few people though.

This scent is raunchy delirium. It is dirty and lusty. Does not overpower your senses. A subdued animalic skin scent.

The best!!! Instant love!!! Ultra mega blaster good!! A gem in my collection and one of my most favorites.

Mayfair is an interesting beast. It opens with a sharp leather, dry and quite realistic, not at all sweaty or synthetic. The oud is present from open to close and manages to be surprisingly smooth and well balanced. The animalic notes shimmer in and out of focus over time, lending a heavy dose of dirty, almost vegetal skank under some conditions. Temperature seems to play a big part in this, as I notice a distinct difference in the overall feel of this frag moving between warm dry outside and airconditioned inside. There's a rather heavy-handed patch here that almost ruins it for me, but is saved in the drydown by the most glorious, singing, natural beeswax I've ever encountered. Later in the dry-down this floral-sweet beeswax oud combination is remarkably similar to Oud Ispahan. The quality of ingredients here speak for themselves - though at this kind of price point, they'd damn well want to!. Mayfair is up there with some of the best leather frags I've ever encountered. If the hefty price tag doesn't put you off, you won't be disappointed. Sillage is heavy, but not nuclear. Longevity is borderline eternal. Expensive, but you're getting what you pay for.

I finally acquired a bottle. I have been fantasising about this fragrance since I first discovered it, and am delighted to own and posess it. I'm still getting familiar with it, and thought I'd share my thoughts. It is remarkably similar to Diors Leather Oud which is perhaps the point of its design, and an obvious comparison. If you do own LO then this is perhaps overkill unless the exact genre of LO is what holds you in rapture in which case you will love this. It is similarly dark, dirty, filthy rich, animalic and beastly, the differences are very hard to discern. This has a chocolate effect missing in LO and is slightly less ferocious straight out of the bottle. The coffee and cardamom are slightly clearer here than in LO and despite the fabulous civet pong they make this a scent slightly more appropriate for wearing during the day. This is essentially a unisex composition and its opulence could float either consumers' boat, but the sheer carnal strength of this animal is best gained by a man - a virile and suave sophisticat. Regal enough to be a signature scent (if used in moderation) you could save LO for nights when you really know what you want- Mayfair is just a hair less sexual, whilst still reeking of privilege and libido. Still, unless you are a predator this may not be an everyday scent rather something for special occasions when you want to exert a strong carnal pull. There is nothing floral or heady about this fragrance, no bright aquatic or ozonic notes to indicate cleanliness, this perfume speaks in very low bass tones, lingering on pauses and staring intensely. It does have a lot of civet which in a curiously pleasant way slightly strangles you and drives your hormonal system wild. It would be hard not to flirt with whomever wears this. It is so similar and not inferior to LO that it would share the honour of most sexy perfume had one not beaten the other to the post. This fragrance is wasted on jeans, sneakers and a tshirt really it needs matching shoes and belt. An ironed shirt. A watch. A sports car. A yacht. Nothing that is said about LO can't be said about this too, so read reviews about that to get a better understanding of what to expect if you go ahead and buy this, which I believe you should, because it is so agonisingly sexual and louche. The raunch aside, it is also fantastically opulent, enigmatic, and fashion forward.

This smells straight up like Leather Oud. I am wearing both of them and really no difference. The only difference is that Leather Oud is a bit harsher where this one is more refined but same exact accords and feel as far as the fragrance goes. The most daring fragrance out of this line. Highly animalistic, stinky, musky, powerful, sexual, vibrant and deep. It is an intensely masculine fragrance, with strong character in which leather notes intertwine with those of Cardamom, Gaiac Wood, Cedar and Sandalwood. Development: It is complex. The scent opens with its stinky civet, leathery, oud and dirty accord which is delivered to you in a very classy and expensive way and as it settles on your skin and starts to dry down the patchouli, bee wax and labdanum notes give this animalistic scent a warm rich and quite sweet volume.

I neeeeeeed this. i NEEEEED THIS!! I w a n t this. i covet it. I desire it, eery night it fills my dreams. It is *extraordinarily similar* to Leather Oud by Dior, it has much of the same everything - filth, sex, leather, oudh, woods, etc. I find them hard to distinguish and will update when can do this better. I know they are different, and I could see myself wearing it much earlier in the day which I would never ever do for leather oud, as much as I love it, it belongs to the night. I am drawing the energy from the universe bringing a bottle of Mayfair and myself closer together and we will hopefully be united soon and then I will be able to write a more lavish and in depth comparison, but in the mean time, shoud LO float your boat, you will love this, though might be wasting your money on something you already have.

Although initially this scent is reminiscent of urine and fur, the process of wearing this perfume truly becomes you in a way that seems almost natural, pouring out of your sweat glands, very primal and basic, all the while sophisticated. It is currently the only scent my body chooses to work with and acheive some degree of personal uniqueness in its combination to my chemistry. Perhaps this is due to the oud.

Cardamom with civet, beeswax, and leather on top of a piny coniferous base. Very very different from their usual fragrance style. It is a nice change, it just seems a bit much and loud/headache inducing. Not sure how to feel about this one. There is a dusty quality to it.

The opening smells like Oud Ispahan/Oud Palao. But it quickly transitions into Leather Oud. You can get a 250ml bottle of Leather oud for the pricebof 100ml of Mayfair. Either way, they both are great scents with high quality/Luxurious smells.
