Rose Sapphire

Given its ratings and description I really expected to be barrelled over by this one, but I regret to say Rose Sapphire is really underwhelming to me. A vague, slightly spicy rose scent with other miscellaneous notes you really don't find yourself compelled to chase down. It's definitely not *bad*, but not as good as the reviews had me expecting - and certainly nowhere near as good as the price tag would imply!

Beautiful, spicy rose, Taleb below is right, very similar to RNDD, but... I think it’s better. Comparing both of them side by side, I find Rose Sapphire more delicate and not as ‘burning’ as RNdD. Added it to my collection since RNdD has been discontinued and my bottle is only half full. But... I wouldn’t say it’s a nuclear version of POAL. Yes, both have rose overdose, for me the difference is in the ‘feel’. POAL to me smells, and always have smelled, like a fragrance with ‘cooling, wet’ effect (must be the minty patchouli and incense), while Rose Sapphire gives the impression of warmth and dryness (my guess: coming from turmeric, myrrh and labdanum). It’s like a garden soaked in still warm, autumnal, early October sun (RS) and a garden right after cold November rain, with sun just coming out (POAL). (In an imaginary world where in the Northern hemisphere there are still roses in full bloom in Oct or Nov! 😆) If using colours I’d say RS is warm red and golden yellow, while POAL is ruby red and intense deep blue. I’m happy to have all three, especially with two of them now being discontinued (RNdD and RS). Also, it’s not similar to Rose d’Arabie (as suggested in the Similar to section). RdA is a metallic, super sharp rose. I adore rose themed perfumes, but couldn’t stand RdA.

Lovely. I have the dupe oil from arabian perfumes (no affiliation), and if the original is anything like it, this is one GORGEOUS Oriental! I too prefer it to Portrait Of A Lady, as that one is more patchouli based to my nose. There is patchouli, but here it's warmly well rounded and gloriously bolstered by incense and spice. Mature but by no means dowdy or boring. A plush, rosy-incense-spice is Ideal for cold weather. Recommended for winter!

This one is more delicate than the blue sapphire, it has that Turkish sweet rose, patchouli, labdanum, with slight saffron, musk, myrrh, and some balsamic notes. The dominant sweet Turkish rose is quite impressive and delicate specially when it calms down. The only drawback is that it doesn't worth it's price rage at all, overly overpriced.

This is odd. The turmeric kind of throws me off a bit. Mustard, Musty, Play-doh, spicy, is all kind of thowing it in a weird direction. Other than that, it is a sensual and alluring amber with rose and a hint of sweetness. Immortelle is one of my favorite materials and is very earthy and ambery. Need to test on skin.

Very much reminiscent of Gurlain's Rose Nacree du Desert but with much more strength. not much creativity here. Edit: this is a nuclear version of Frederic Malle's portrait of a lady.
