Vibrant

Vibrant, was not what I expected! Well, I don't know why I expected citrus, or something light.. Maybe I just think or citrus COLORS when I think of the word "vibrant." The perfume, ladies & gents, is altogether a different animal! Vibrant opens with a citrus note, similar to the very bracing lemon-lime of Guerlain's Eau De Cologne Imperiale, not a polished citrus, raw, peel & all. Along with the bracing citrus, I smelled a very assertive pepperiness which I think was vetiver, included in that "woods" description. So, we have the beginnings of an Eau De Cologne, citrus, sharp vetiver, woods nuances.. Then slap! Here comes the leather! Not a "posh leather goods shop" like in Odori's Cuoio, more of a Bandit, or Etat Libre leather. Slightly rubbery, treated Harley Davidson Jacket leather, with a backup of vetiver, it progresses more & more to what I would consider a men's scent! I could almost picture a man getting off his bike, walking in, tossing the jacket on the couch, & coming in for a cuddle, where I smell the last bits of a classic cologne. Very nicely done. This could have been boring, but it is indeed a "vibrant" composition, it kept me on my toes. At about 30 minuites, the "rubbery note" is a bit like in Bvlgari Black, but not as sharp. Finally there is a beautiful melding together, a nice state of balminess, existing between the resins, musk, woods (which have finally lost the peppery sharpness) & leather, now mellowed to a more pleasant composition. I would definitely recommend this as a must-sniff for leather lovers, & those seeking an adventurous take on a classic EDC. not for me, but I can't wait to sniff it on my husband! Sillage is pretty good on this one, sprayed I bet it would be very powerful, a few dabs from my sample were enough to achieve arms length sillage. It's been around for about 5 hours, & I bet this leather balminess will stick around for another couple at least. I really love this stage, the musk has a similar tone to Kiehl's or vintage Coty Musk Oil. Tenacious juice, but not monstrously so. Bandit lovers, Gents & adventurous ladies, this is a fun sniff if you enjoy leather!

I blind bought this and was wary because I'm not very keen on citrus fragrances at the best of times, the smell of the fruits themselves so easy to identify there's little mystery the result being that I feel I smell like a fruitbowl so usually spur fragrances with heavy citrus in sharp focus. So it's just as well that I don't smell a preponderance of citrus here. It very quickly settles into a very nice leather, which is what I had hoped. It's an unusual leather, similar to Peau d'Espagne, definitely in the physical sence a soft piece of leather; a malleable chamois used for years to lovingly tender to a prized item, perhaps a large jewel, as opposed to the hard leather of a briefcase (TF's Tuscan), sports car (Irish Leather by Memo, though sharing similarities), or military boot (mona di orio's 'Cuir'). It has a light smoky aspect which is well balanced against the balmy sweetness. This isn't nearly as loud as Intense or Complex from the same house, but is no less enjoyable. I'm very pleased with this blind buy not least of all because I got it for a song, and recommend it. I am definitely now a fan of this house. I think Complex wins my heart above this by a hair, but if you only can manage one from this house and have money to burn, buy Almas whose dry down, especially on fabric, is to DIE for. Anyway, back to Vibrant. It seems like a strange name for something so low key but sales spiel aside, this is lovely, soft leathery juice. // ed: but erm where has it gone?! That did not last nearly as long as I expected or hoped!! Will try again and report back...

Ok - they should have named this 'Unsafely vibrant' because if one goes only by the notes they'll be in for a nasty surprise! The 'citrus' is a green and screechy as it gets - forget a refreshing citrus punch, this is untamed, wild fruit growing well away from civilization squirted directly onto your face! It's then unceremoniously followed by a bashfully pungent rough n tumble leather - the sort you would place as a saddle of a humpy leaf-eating dinosaur if they were still alive and tamed by us, lol. Yep so that's my picture- oldskool, raw and loud 'dated' themes make a potent return. Not '80's powerhouse, more just 'prehistoric', a bit like this houses other take of notes and 'ancient medieval' themes. A nasty surprise for me indeed. Scent: 4/10. Quality: 7/10.

I applied this today on my skin and it reminded me a lot old perfumes that my mother used to wear at my age.I don't get citruses I only smell leather,a hint of rose and resin.It's a dames perfume,nice
