Bob Mackie

This is one of my very first fragrances that I ever had. I had a tiny bottle of this PARFUM What is now, I believe, called extrait. Just like Chanel number five. I don’t think that PARFUM is even available anymore. I absolutely loved this! I was quite young, probably 16 or 17. So I didn’t really know much about fragrance at the time. And it was a very, very, very long time ago. I remember seeing it and smelling it. I remember thinking I’d never heard of it and didn’t know anyone who wore it. I remember it being heavily white floral. Possibly some yellow florals as well. But that’s all I can remember. I think it had gardenia like heady gardenia. But I do not remember, but I do know I loved it. I bet there’s some out there somewhere. That’s still good if it is pure. It’s in that black bottle so it could’ve been protected. I know if I ever saw it again I would grab it.

After giving my bottle to a coworker years ago, I have purchased 8 more bottles for other coworkers, and one for myself again. I'm not one to be able to wax on about the nuances and complexities of a perfume, I can tell you it is a good quality heliotrope, gardenia, and maybe white flowers perfume, VERY long lasting, and extremely inexpensive. After smelling it on my friend, almost all who smelled it, wanted it. I also started to appreciate it, and it will always be one I will own. For $10-20, you can't lose trying this perfume. If you like heliotrope and gardenia, this is the one to own.

I just blind-bought a .25oz perfume, from ebay. There is apparently an EDT version (I saw a picture on google somewhere) not listed here on Fragrantica. My sleuthing found that a company called Florasynth made it, which was later purchased by Bayer. I'm dying to know what the notes are. Mine isn't sealed so I took a risk. If it's truly like Gypsy, I think I will like it, since Gypsy gets favorable comparisons to Alien, which I love. I'll update once it arrives! Update: smells like Caron Narcisse Noir

i'm testing from a vintage vial, and trying to figure out what i am smelling here...definitely floral and woody notes. i am guessing white florals, maybe lily. i get a woody note that leans a bit maple-y as well. maybe some oakmoss, it's a bit mossy. then after a couple minutes i get a more heady/bold floral note, possibly gardenia? but i think there are other florals here...maybe hyacinth or something like that-there is a bit of a dewiness. i really think lily is the star floral note here but i dunno. it's mostly this one white floral note that leans more clean, with a woody background. pretty but it gets kind of soapy/shampoo-y over time. it's quite strong and smells very 80s.

What, not even a pyramid for this scent? Oh well, there doesn't seem to be much interest in it. This very pretty bottle came to me in a vintage lot, and I was quite excited because Bob Mackie was on my want list. The excitement fizzled soon along with the perfume. The opening has a prominent carnation note but then things get muddled and a bit musty. Maybe the bottle's off. I can't imagine the scent is supposed to be like this. So Mackie is a no-go. It's a pity, I had such high hopes for it.

I have a 30ml parfum of this and I’m shocked that I can’t find hardly any information about this fragrance! All I come across is the 1991 version.
