Desert Spirit Luxe Fragrance Mist

If you love Byredo Mojave Ghost or Saltair Santal Bloom, this is a nice affordable inspired-by alternative to try. This is a clean, airy woody floral musk fragrance. It opens with an almost citrus-like brightness that continues throughout the fragrance, giving it a fresh yet refined quality. The floral notes are subtle, allowing the warm, creamy woods and musk to take center stage rather than feeling like a traditional floral fragrance. It has a gentle softness as everything blends together beautifully, creating an expensive skin-scent effect. It’s a gorgeous, refined fragrance that could easily lean unisex. I wasn't very impressed the first time I tried it, but I decided to give it another chance and sprayed it more generously on my skin. I'm so glad I did because I ended up loving it. It's become one of my favorite everyday fragrances. I do apply all my body mists fairly heavily, and and on me, this one lasts a decent amount of time with a nice light projection. My favorite way to wear it is right after a shower. I spray it all over my body, concentrating on my arms, neck, and even my hair. Sometimes I'll lightly mist my clothes while I'm getting ready, then later apply my fragrance for the day. So far, it's layered beautifully with everything I've paired it with and never competes with my perfume. Instead, it sits quietly in the background, adding a clean, soft depth, and sophistication. You know it's there, but you can't quite put your finger on it. When people get close, they usually just tell me I smell really good. I prefer this over both Fine'ry Desert Spirit and Sand + Fog Violet Sandalwood. Fine'ry Desert Spirit was nice, but it didn't appeal to me as much, it seemed as if there was just something missing. As for Sand + Fog Violet Sandalwood, I found it harsh and not very well blended. The Bodycology version is much smoother, balanced, and more versatile. It wears beautifully on its own and is an excellent layering fragrance that adds depth. Side note: If you're interested in layering, I think Bodycology Santal Dreams body wash and matching body cream would pair beautifully with this. Their description says it blends creamy woods, delicate violet, and golden amber, which I personally think would complement the soft floral, creamy woods, and musk in Desert Spirit. They also have a matching body mist.

I've never smelled it's inspiration, so I can't say how close it is in comparison. But! I can say I really like this. Much different than the gourmand sweet things that are popular and what's in my collection. I could see it being unisex. It's straight what you see on the notes, a powdery amber musk with a gentle santal background.
