Another boundary pushing creation by Antonio Gardoni, this almost animalic gourmand dense and bold benzoin-based perfume created as a limited edition of 50 bottles for Luckyscent's 15th anniversary celebration is for those who like heavy, old style, perfumes like Gardoni's own classic "Maai". The central note here is dense benzoin which is surrounded by a flurry of notes like most of his creations - in this case, bergamot, yuzu, mandarin, petitgrain, buchu, black pepper, mint, basil, mustard seed, cassis, rosemary, ylang ylang, jasmine, rose, lavender, geranium, rosewood, labdanum, olibanum, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, tonka, siam wood and cedar (Phew!). Starts shape shifting the moment it lands on your skin with very strong projection, sillage and longevity, this will appeal to those who like their perfumes dense, bold and resinous. For those with strong, "dont care about the world" personalities, this is edgy, brilliant, modern perfumery at its finest. I loved it but there is a good chance you will hate it, especially if you love perfumes like Aventus and Gypsy Water. Enjoy!

Noun is my first try from Bogue, and as an exclusive Luckyscent release to celebrate the boutique's fifteenth anniversary, it's a particularly daring entry. It's a gourmand, but not a sweet one, as Sebastian Jara notes, its particular ensemble of green, woody, and spicy notes conjuring spicy vegetables and meat to my nose. Mostly, the spicieness stands out with an undercurrent of resins to render the blend slightly creamy and at the same time still a bit animalic. In the dry down, I get more of the floral/herbal side of it, the lavender in particular, and it smells a bit more like a traditional men's fragrance. Performance is strong, but it comes pricey, at $210 for 50ml, so one really needs to love the stuff to splurge for it. 7 out of 10

Something has gone very wrong here. The opening of Bogue Noun smells like rotten fruit —specifically, there’s a cloying Concord grape smell, mixed with some sweaty, savory cooking spices, and something powerfully camphoraceous and minty, like a Ricola lozenge. There’s even a rich, dark note that reminds me of chocolate — in a context where that’s just *wrong*. It’s strong — I can smell it wafting up a foot from my wrists — and similar smells are mentioned by other reviewers, so I know I’m not just imagining it. Ignore the mentions of citrus or green notes in the official list — this is funky, stinky fruit and medicinal camphor. And I can *enjoy* fruit + stank (Rochas Femme, Bel Ami) or even stinky fruit + camphor (Chinatown) but this is just a whole other level of foulness. This must be an experimental perfume where Antonio Gardoni tries to see exactly how far he can go. It does mellow eventually, as the laws of physics say it must. A good hour in, the fruit has subsided, and Noun is primarily a dark patchouli smell, with dark spices and a much more manageable amount of herbal camphor. It’s like an edgier Chinatown, and I can only wish Noun *started* here, instead of that overkill opening. At the two-hour mark, it’s still intensely spicy (cloves?), darkly resinous, and now woody. It smells like actual cedar and spruce, not ISO E Super. And the rosemary is starting to pop out too. At this point it’s got a distinctly masculine character: dark, sweet, and outdoorsy. It belongs on someone who’s into sailing or ice climbing or something. Not something I seek out personally, but definitely fills a niche. If you’re a hardcore spice-and-camphor fan, mayyyybe try Noun — but wake up and put it on at least an hour before you have to interact with any human beings.
