Dolce di Giorno

I have a lot on my mind these days - and I can't cease the burning questions of what my life would have been like if I had done something else at so many pivotal points - education, love, location, friendships, jobs, and the list goes on. I've always taken my time to make decisions and have, unfortunately, hesitated at a lot of moments that I believed were trivial at the time - I was dead wrong. So much of my life has been derailed because I cannot find what I need to in the time I needed to - I can't decipher what's important until it's done and gone. I think those who have it figured out have a civil duty to share that knowledge for those who are eager but lost! I digress...it's another grey and cool day in my land, so I felt like tucking into something cozy and unintentionally sexy - Dolce di Giornio! Oh my gawd! I cannot resist the sexuality that oozes from this scent - it is my Kryptonite! If I ever came across a woman wearing this....I legally could not be held responsible for my actions!! Thankfully, I have never come across anyone wearing this. It opens with a sultry spiced plum - very crisp and clear notes of a narcotic nutmeg, powdery cinnamon and clove, and a juicy plum all drenched in a syrupy labdanum! YUM! Somewhere in the depths of this gooey goodness there is a touch of smoky and green cypriol to counter some of the richness - but I sadly cannot find many of the notes....patchouli is elusive as is most of the wood notes. I do get a very rich and creamy sandalwood alongside the labdanum and vanilla - maybe it's a modified sandalwood accord (sandalwood as the main attraction and the other wood notes accentuate its nuances ) in the base. Whatever the case, it creates a sense of gratifying warmth - like snuggling with your true love, deeply satisfying with a trace of carnal sexuality. Simply blissful! Upon first couple sprays I almost wrote this fragrance off. I have seen several people mention the soapy/powdery aspects of this fragrance. That is what you get fairly strong for the first 5 minutes. This, however, is a perfect example of niche fragrances evolving like designer fragrances won’t. That soapiness doesn’t last. Instead it turns into a wonderfully mildly fruity woody scent that continues to change throughout. I highly recommend giving this a chance and not being afraid by the powdery top. There is a very mild similarity to both Costume National Homme fragrances, but mostly in that if you like those you should like these upon mid/dry down. It’s worth noting too that this fragrance can be had for a very reasonable price on discounters or third party sites like eBay (when buying from trusted seller). I think I paid $68 for a 3.3oz. Worth it! Happy hunting!

Got a chance to pick this up in Florence recently. I've had my eye on a Bois 1920 frag for awhile, based on my friends Sushi Imperiale he had. I loved this one from the first smell. The spice and plum notes compliment each other well, and the woodsy top note brings it all together. An excellent oriental frag. Longevity is outstanding and it performs well in cooler temperatures. Bois gets a bad rap for being overpriced, and true they are on the pricier side, but this one is def worth a sniff.

Big plum lover and this one’s.. okay. whatever is mixing with the plum (maybe the cypriol oil) is leaving it with this old lady like note. I don’t know if you’d call this a deep fruit note but imagine like a compost of plums only- it’s that kind not a sweet one. Unisex for the fact the cinnamon and pepper are most in your face. Silently put it on and the gf complimented me. 7/10. Hope to try more from this house

Absolutely fascinating. The underated gem with smoothness flow. Im sensing powdery vibe but not heavy, creaminess of sandalwood and vanilla. The cinnamon, plum, light pepper and other spice is in nice transitioning period of time. The recipe might be not so unique, but i just love the smoothness. Nothing rough edges or imbalanced notes. Wonderful if you can get it under market price.

This is a very nicely blended scent though i really dont enjoy the scent of plum much, here it works better than most I've smelled and it definitely smells like costume national homme, but its way better, also reminds me of jubilation man 25 from amouage but less masculine... note: i just blended this with jazz club and am about to eat my arm! 10/10

This comes across as a nice woody, slightly sweet, barbershop scent. I love it. I'm wearing it now, and the dry down is phenomenal. So far it has lasted 4 hours no problem. I'm interested to seeing total longevity. Projection is about a 7/10. Scent is 9/10 but its growing on me and changing my perception of barbershop scents for the better.

Fantastic. Cinnamon and cedar. Spicy and sexy. Unisex. I can’t smell the vetiver, luckily, because I hate vetiver. It has so many base notes, none prevail and none turn me off, not too much sandalwood etc. Night time scent, not office. Gorgeous. Bois makes such high quality scents.

has grown on me since my last review, the cinnamon and plum compliment each other well. nothing too complex but a good own for plum lovers or someone wanting to try fruit based fragrances that aren’t too sweet

The bottle colour tells exactly what's inside. Silvery sweetish citrus, very good! Sweet notes are more at the beginning and less later. It's like that bergamot up there has been dipped into silver.

As usual with this house, very well blended, complex, pleasant. A true beauty! Does resemble Costume National Homme quite a bit but with a higher end quality.

Plum, woods, cinnamon, black pepper, that's about it. In the same family with Baume du doge. Beautiful oriental, the plum here is very similar to the one in Gold Leather but less strong and pungent.. I love the perfume, but I cannot help and wonder how many spicy orientals are enough .... Although I appreciate it, I was expecting something gourmand, sweeter, given the Dolce name . I find myself craving a simple vanilla or some fresh flowers after this one. Still , I never smelled a bad Bois 1920 and this doesn't disappoint . My favourites however remain Come L'Amore and La Vaniglia. Also very good are Real Patchouli and Sandalo The.

This one is all about juicy, sweet plums and warm, spicy cinnamon. It borders on gourmand, evoking the scent of a freshly baked plum cake straight out of the oven. The fragrance leans slightly feminine, but its unique and intriguing. Performance is solid, but be cautious with overspraying—it can quickly become overwhelming. Pretty solid unique warm fruity scent but a bit too feminine for my taste.

Really at odds with the reviews here... Dolce di Giorno is a mildly spiced fatty aldehydic scent - and the immediate thing that comes to mind is a fancy BAR OF SOAP. I can detect the pepper, cinnamon and plum in the opening but they're only companions to the soapiness. It's nothing impressive, memorable, offensive or challenging. It's the kind scent you spray on days in which everything else in your collection seems too special. When you just want to smell like you're fresh out of the shower. But sadly even that doesn't stay with you too long as the performance is very weak so it'd probably be wiser to spray on clothes instead.

For me this fragrance conjures medicinal cough syrup memories a bit. Really heavy on syrupy synthetic plum. It isn’t horrible by any stretch but just doesn’t move me. There are some pretty nice soapy aspects but they don’t do enough to offset that scent association I make of something like robitussin. 6.7/10

It's... alright? Dolce di Giorno's intriguing combination of notes drew me in, but there's something that pierces my nose a bit, possibly the plum or spices. It's a little dusty and I think it's too heavy on the cedar- it actually reminded me of being in a furniture store. Not for me.

This is a very nice fragrance. The two notes that I smelled the most of was the cinnamon and the cedar, with it backed by a bit of vanilla, plum, and pepper. The first thing that comes to mind when I smell this is walking through a candle isle in a supermarket. If I remember correctly, I think this either smells like a gingerbread or a vanilla-cinnamon candle. I would say this is a very festive fragrance and would be great to wear during the holidays.

The opening just smells weird. Plum note here is very strong. Smells like medicine and old people maybe because of plum with cinnamon. Projects well but not for me

Just wanted to add that this is more masculine than feminine for someone who is interested about it and I personally bought it and I am a female and I do not like it on me;( I wish someone have mentioned that in their reviews so I wouldn’t make this mistake

*To the opening strains of Beethoven's 5th* PLUM PLUM PLUM PLUMMMMMM! ...and no, that isn't a snarky judgement. More like me doing a happy dance at how delightfully the plum here is carried off. It would be very easy to read the top and heart notes and mistake it for a rather "interesting" mulled wine recipe, but here the sum of all the parts truly is greater than the whole....or the whole is greater than the sum of... oh whatever. Upon application the grapefruit and cinnamon are very apparent, but they rapidly soften as the dry plum boost kicks in. This particular plum is just SO right in my esteem! Just enough sweetness and bouquet to announce what it is, but not so sweet as to go down the candied fruit path. I believe it's the nagarmotha giving a slightly animalic, musky tang as well. This seems to sustain its note quite consistently, allowing for the plum to swell, and the woods to warm up and join in. Although there is something underneath that gives it a very slight synthetic feel (or maybe it's just the particular vanillin), I don't feel that it's so strong as to be a downside. The drydown really is something special to behold, as the spices and plum soften into the cushiony woods. Very much a YES from me!

Amazing juice; sweet, slightly boozy, cinnamony, with some tangy/citrusy fruit. Dolce di Giorno starts with the cinnamon on top and the plum following right behind. I agree with Happyme2009, that this is slightly similar to Atelier's Gold Leather and that similarity being miniscule. Yet, it does have more of a Vento nel Vento kind of a vibe going on. This is definitely in the family of Bois 1920, shall we say the cousin of Vento nel Vento. (Gold Leather's sweetness makes up for the camouflaged minty menthol feel found in Dolce Di Giorno; Dolce Di Giorno's spicy combination, presented as a minty feel makes up for the sweetness found in Gold Leather.) After the initial sweetness has dissipated, the Sandalwood, Vetiver, and Cardamom show up in full force to give this fragrance a sharp (sweet cherry) woodsy feel. There's an array of other notes that make this fragrance stand out among its counterparts. I think this one sets the bar really high... I really like this one from Bois 1920 limited edition. Longevity: 8/10 Performance: 8/10 Silage: 7.5/10 Overall: 8/10

Recently I received a sample of this from MiN. This is a very well made, lightly balanced fragrance. Started off green/woods with just a peep of floral underneath, and after three hours is very soft, the patchouli pokes its head out but doesn't jump out at you, and I can smell a bit of the cinnamon, a bit of powder, a bit of sandalwood. It has a wee touch of soapiness to it that makes me think there might be lavender in this but I don't see it listed in the notes description? Three hours after applying this, Dolce is very soft; you could wear this in a professional environment quite easily, in my humble opinion. This is a nice unisex fragrance, but I'd really like to smell it on a man. I think it's better suited to men, but that's just my opinion...

It's a lovely day, this is a pepper dance, pepper festival day! i smell a huge amount of pepper with side effect of cardamom sweetened with either vanilla OR cinnamon and not both, & most likely it is vanilla cause i can't smell that Christmas cinnamon in this juice! i guess something woody is there but not cedar. so after all it's spicy sweet which makes it good if it's within the price range. not risky but happy. i didn't like it from the first spray, but after several tries it became quite good. to be honest, sometimes i get the feeling that i want to sneeze! don't know whither if it's because i know there is allot of pepper, or it does truly makes me wanna sneeze! and ironically i didn't sneeze for this so far :D

Identical to costume nationale homme, but with s softer clove note. Certainly no need to have both. I'm wearing dolce on my left arm, costume on my right - and I just can't tell a difference. It's my own dumbass fault for blind buying dolce without doing my research - but how can companies do this? It's literally identical to another company's fragrance. Oh well. I guess it can be a backup. The scent itself is enjoyable. Clove, cinnamon, spice - fairly intense. Masculine. Definitely winter. I don't smell plum whatsoever - unless it's a weird variant that I'm not familiar with. I get cinnamon and clove. 5/10

Considerably more on the Gents side of the unisex measure A nice blend of cedar, sandelwood, thyme, cinnamon and cardomom swimming together, none bolder than the other. There is a faint and good tangy wood, maybe gaiac, in the area This is a fragrance, you won't get lulled into thinking this is a wood, or flower, or fruit. Also, it just doesn't fade to a single base, hangs in there complex all the way to the end. The closest fragrance might be Opus IV, but, far enough away to not overlap. Sillage 4/5 Longevity 4/5 Bought it an that was an easy decision.

Why are lots of wonderful scents labelled as being "more for men"? I beg to differ. This is magical stuff, I'm immediately under this perfume's spell. Mysterious, warm,cinnamon... Lots of woody goodness, it doesn't get any better! Too bad the price tag is a bit hefty, but it's going on my list anyway. Update: the only thing that bugs me is there seems to be a strong musky note showing up after a while.. Strange- as musk isn't .in the list of notes. I'll have to test a bit more, I guess. Still, the beginning is epic, I just wish it lasted longer.

This is a fantastic combination of plum and cinnamon. The opening smells like freshly made plum preserve made from juicy, ripe plums with a pinch of cinnamon. The base is woody, enriched with creamy vanilla. It can be classified as a gourmand, but without being overly sweet. On my skin it lasts around six hours, with projection reaching about an arm’s length.

I'm mid week in wearing this fragrance and... What a beautifully soft cinnamon and cedar combo with some memories of a green field to top it off. This is a really enjoyable fragrance that you just want to smell all day. It's soft, inoffensive and so damn pleasant. Beautifully done for either one ( man or woman )

Morinatk04, be patient, I had a same impression at first... It is masculine for first hour, but after that, the most beautiful plum, ripe und feminine, became a star of perfume. I've met this sort of plum in first Dior Poison, before the reformulation.
