Notturno Fiorentino

I bought a 20ml decant that was discounted. I’d never experienced this house before. It’s rare in my country. It’s gorgeous. Big soft rose bolstered by jammy fruit and a lot of pepper (almost pink pepper) which with the musk gave an almost clovey, pink smokers lollie effect. The vanilla then pickups up and it’s again fluffy and sweet but not sickening. I have no other scents like this. It’s comforting and a bit delicious without getting too gourmand. I saw a full bottle at a good price which I also nabbed, so I’m set for a while with this scent. Looking forward to wearing as it cools down again. ❤️

This is a lovely vanilla, subtly spiced, cuddly sweet and softly lingers on the skin. Totally different from BOIS 1920 Vaniglia, this one is the demure sister with nothing dirty peeking at all. NOTTURNO FIORENTINO is charming and nothing is loud about it. A gorgeous vanilla-tonka combo with hints of soft pepper and musk. The wood notes come out eventually and it gives the whole scent more depth. Vaniglia disappointed me but Notturno Fiorentino got me hooked. Such a lovely fragrance.

My bottle came used, and after spraying, it 1smelled strongly of alcohol for about 10 seconds. Then it turned in to a vanilla floral. It is really nice once it settles in, and with the complexity I have begun to expect from Bois 1920. I definitely smell the middle notes. They are fairly jammy smelling. To me, the vanilla is always there, but gets stronger the longer I sniffed.

This is a beauty! The black pepper is such a terrific opening, I get much more woods in this than floral and it lasts and lasts and lasts getting deeper and richer. Definitely a keeper.

Bois 1920 Le Voluttuose Notturno Fiorentino fell into place within my collection purely by chance. Attracted by its stunning pink bottle, I placed an impromptu bid on this fragrance on Ebay several years ago and won a full 100ml bottle for $30 AUD. When a niche fragrance is being sold at such a low, bargain price, I expect very little. Notturno Fiorentino to this day is still one of my best blind buys. Notturno Fiorentino is a syrupy, dense and rich vanilla scent with added notes of tonka bean, pepper, rose and musk. It's best worn and enjoyed during the cooler months and has excellent longevity and sillage. I have worn this fragrance multiple times this Autumn and Winter but whenever I look at my bottle, it looks like a haven't used it at all. The lightest of sprays goes a long way. The pepper and musk notes stop this fragrance from becoming sickeningly sweet. It's a vanilla fragrance focused more on the oriental-woodsy aspect rather than the gourmand. As I mature I find that I prefer the more subdued, less sweet vanilla scents such as this one. I keep meaning to explore more from the Bois 1920 range but unfortunately they are difficult to come by in Australia. I was lucky to have found Notturno Fiorentino and I have a clueless Ebay seller to thank for that.

My grandmother told me a story that when she was younger, she had 3 men propose to her around the same time, and she picked my grandfather. Looking back at old pictures, she looked like Jackie Kennedy. What I am trying to say here is that my grandmother has always been a beautiful, classy lady. Her house always smelled like potporri, and she always smelled lovely. For some reason I always thought she wore CK Obsession. She has the soap in her shower, I thought this was what I was smelling my whole life. I have tried Obsession many times because I loved the way she smelled so much, I wanted to smell like it too. But Obsession always smells screechy and weird on my skin, I get no vanilla. I got a sample of this 1920 stuff, and as soon as I put it on I was reminded of my grandmother. THIS is exactly how she smells. Peppery, spicy, with a deep vanilla, a little bit of flowers. Obviously this can't possibly be what she has been wearing all these years, but this is a perfect recreation of whatever it is. It is lovely.

To me subjectively, this is mostly a spicy, woody vanilla that hints a bit to some sweeter tobacco perfumes. It might be the patchouli-vanilla-tonka combination that tricks me into sensing this tobacco accord. The floral and fruity notes play a small but beautiful part. Completely unisex in my opinion. I often go for typically masculine perfumes and I enjoy this thoroughly as an interesting variation. It’s funny how the marketing for this is explicitly feminine, it puzzles me.

Patchouli strong opening with dirty vanila and Tonka drydown. Very lasting and opulent, a single spray is more then enough for a whole day. Has a mature sophistication, not a typical vanilla perfume for young girls. It is not from a musk category at all. Should be listed as a gourmet.

Contrary to La Vaniglia I had a terrible experience with this actually is the vanilla I wanted. An inviting blend of my favourite notes of vanilla and tonka with fruity blackcurrant undertones. Perfect for spring and summer. Not overpowering, but noticeable.

So far, I like it, but don't love it. The opening reminds me a little of a cherry cough syrup, which is unfortunate - yet as it warms on your skin, it's a beautiful woody vanilla. Nothing show-stopping, or especially daring, but very nice.

I like it but it's so far from Cuir Beluga and Cafe Chantant. Much fruitier, and although it's powdery, it's not as smooth. It's nice but these two are MASTERPIECES.

So far, everything from BOIS 1920 has impressed me. Well, at least until now. I'm not rather sure if I'm ansomnic to something in "Notturno Fiorentino" or it's just how it's supossed to smell, but I got zero flowers. The whole creations sat so close to the skin, that within 2 hours I was almost sure that it's gone (it was not, I felt it 6 hours later). So, what I'm getting out of this? The first blast is pepper, then something with loads of tonka and vanilla and a very, very tiny idea of flowers. Then there is a sharp musk/cedar that goes on until fading completely. The thing is that this is sooo light, that I can't even say which of the notes are the most dominant as, well, none of them are. Nothing deep nor rich, transperant sweet vanilla-musk with a healthy dose of cedar at the base. Dissapointing.

Finished my 18 ml bottle! Had high hopes from the votes and some of reviews, but - a big NOPE! Not even close to baby powder, it's more like cat litter with powder scent. Very weak, disappears in no time. If I haven't bought it from original maison, I'd strongly believe I'm scammed because It gives impression of homeopathic edp concentrations (edp diluted 10 fold multiple times). There are a lot of other great perfumes from this maison out there but -sorry Bois 1920 - this is not the case.

Nothing interesting: the usual sweet spicy floral fragrance. Everything smelled already, nothing new, but far too expensive for the actual value. Save your money and your nose for fragrances more 'original.

I tested this one today. In the beginning, there is a very noticeable black pepper note mixed with bergamot : black pepper is hopefully not pungent as in "Tentations" by Paloma Picasso, here it gives a somehow medicinal wierd note. You need to overcome it : it hopefully doesn't take long. The composition doesn't evolve a lot, it stays quite linear : I got always the black pepper but not pungent and the bergamot, I guess rounded by a bit of blackcurrant but no fruity notes, no florals, I would swear a little of sandalwood but that is surely the association of tonka bean and cedar wood. I can't detect vanilla but maybe it adds roundness to the whole composition. This creation is not an oriental, neither a vanilla fragrance : I guess Fragrantica is right to classify it rather as a floral woody musk. Not unpleasant but actually nothing special, nothing outstanding : I wouldn't wear it. I don't dislike it but I don't like it. For sure, you can spot it is quality perfumery though. About longevity , I sprayed it four times on my wrist around 9AM and still present now at 8.30 PM. Sillage is arm-length.

At first this composition seems rather congested with spices and the like, and reminds me quite a bit of one of the Frapin oriental perfumes, and also A Lab on Fire "What we do in Paris...". After a few minutes, Notturno Fiorentino dries down nicely to a smooth, slightly sweet and woody oriental. There is not a lot of detectable rose here--or any floral--perhaps because all of the oriental components are so much stronger? Other reviewers have complained of the lack of originality in this creation, but it smells good and will fill many an oriental lover's craving for a solid winter perfume. I consider Notturno Fiorentino to be unisex, although it's true that it's on the sweet side. Not overly sweet, but the vanilla and tonka are unmistakeably present.

I had to order this after seeing it smells like Oriental Brulant. It does not smell like OB, it is not exactly like it, it is not a dupe at all. It sorta has a similarity to Cuir Beluga, about 10% I'd say. It's not a bad fragrance, but don't expect it to be Guerlain's Oriental Brulant or Cuir Beluga. Well, just saying, because there are few bottles around left unopened, and it's not easy to come by. It's very faint too, but I sprayed just a small spritz. Sigh, what a bummer, had high hopes. I wish they made OB again :(

This perfume is absolutely captivating! The initial burst of black pepper and bergamot is so refreshing, then it melts into this gorgeous bouquet of roses and jasmine. The vanilla and musk in the dry down make it warm and sensual. It's definitely a sophisticated scent that lasts all day.

This smells so good when I sniff the nozzle of the bottle. Its like a sweet rosy cherry. But when I spray it it becomes a bitter powdery tonka patchouli. Its not bad but that nozzle just smells so much better. Strange.. I might just keep my decant to sniff the nozzle...

This is almost ideal for cozy winter days spent baking or reading. The cedar is a little too strong for my taste but as a whole I like the composition. If you love woody vanilla scents with a bit of floral background try this.

This could have been magnificent. I was looking forward to loving the opulent bouquet but then came the vanilla and tonka bean overload and this girl was not impressed. Yawn.

Pepper and light vanilla. I tried it today and I dont really like it.
