Oro Nero

#31 on my Fragrance Review Journey I purchased a two-pack sample of this prior to Amouage Interlude Man arriving. I wanted to compare them separately and side by side. I was encouraged by the reviews stating this was a more wearable version of Interlude Man. When the samples arrived, I applied them to the backs of both hands. I waited for a few seconds before boing hands to nose. As my hands hung down at my waist, the strong smell of cloves resonated and begin fill the bedroom. Going hands to nose, I was not impressed at all. The smell was rancid. I decided to get past the initial few minutes and see if the dry down was better. It was not. The same rancid smell was linear. I ended up washing it off my hands the best I could. Fast forward to today 2/21/26, I decided to try one more time. Something didn't sit right. Bois 1920 is top notch. This time, I used the second sample. Boy what a difference that made. It became obvious right away that the first sample had gone bad. This time around I could not stop smelling my hand. The opening was glorious with cloves, bergamot, and patchouli creating mastery. I sprayed Interlude Man on the other hand. It became clearer to me that while some similarities, they are two different fragrances to my nose. Interlude Man is more smokey and incense driven. It also lasts a bit longer than Oro Nero. Even though they take different paths, I do not believe you should own both. I purchased a full bottle of Interlude Man (with a discount) at the same price I could have gotten Bois 1920. That said, I would be completely happy with owning this one and feel you cannot go wrong with the value prop and quality. Job well done!

The graphical notes are incorrect on here, read the description for accurate notes. I blind bought this, the bottle is amazing. Matte black, fine, smooth finish with a rough gold flake coated cap. This fragrance really has nothing to do with the original Oro 1920, im not sure why there is a shared name. Oro is Suederal leather with character and refinement. Oro Nero is a woody oriental with an eastern flare. Starts out spicy, smoky and smelling of dried tobacco from a combination of the saffron, cloves and I can smell some opoponax in this one still with its sweet, powdery nuances. If anything I would say this one borrows slightly from Galardi's BOIS 1920 Dolce Di Giorno. A distant relationship with Amouage's Jubilation XXV. It is a sweet finish from smooth sandalwood with vanilla and a touch of ambery resins. Teasing whiffs of Guerlainade. No leather though, interesting. Simple but effective at the end. Im happy to own a heavily discounted bottle and imagine it would be stunning on either a man or woman with a foot of snow on the ground.

#1036 in my "Tour de Fragrance" As others have noted this smell likes Amouage DNA all the way, but to me it's much more like "Reflection Man" than "Interlude Man." I think it's a great Amouage style male scent at a much better price point, equal if not better quality, and I actually prefer it.I'd say if you like any Amouage male fragrance you'll like this. It's not that interesting in the opening, just as with Reflection Man, Interlude Man, Beach Hut Man, Jubilation XXV, but it gets more complex in the dry down. There is that hint of pencil shavings from the cedar in both this and Reflection Man that I could do without, but it doesn't ruin it for me. 12 hours in this is still a potent skin scent. Go easy for the car pool, elevator, small office space. I think this one is more for a night out than the office. I've got a lot on the shelf already that is very similar to this, so I may not be in for a bottle at this time, but I would say if you're considering any of the pricier Amouage scents, try a decant of this from FragrancesLine first.

Another great scent I had the pleasure to try from this brand. Natural, aromatic and mysterious. A pleasure that passed a test of my constant focus during a day. Aromatic start of high quality feels so effortless, genderless I would say. Just beautiful. A unique blend of saffron and cloves with such a dose of citrus and fruit that it is enchanting. Smoky and spicy yet bright. Patchouly pefrectly blended with cedar, leather with floral aspects. The most beautiful and natural yet not too edible black vanilla pod finish - so smooth, spicy, lovely. It has a lot to offer. I would consider it universal - day and night, fitting many seasons. It stays with you till next morning, but not in a tiring way. Even then it's the unique sensation of "good to feel you again"..

Oro Nero by Bois 1920 stands out because of its unique blend of saffron and cloves. These two notes give the fragrance an unexpected twist right from the start. The saffron adds a luxurious, slightly leathery spice, while the cloves bring a warm, almost sweet depth that sets it apart from more typical woody scents. This combination makes Oro Nero feel rich and exotic, adding layers of complexity that unfold as you wear it. I already own and love Interlude Man. I received a sample of Oro Nero with another full bottle order. I have to agree with many others how similar this is to Interlude Man...but a little less intense. I do love it though. If you are after the Interlude Man incense scent profile, then this is a cheaper way of getting there.

A mature, Italian style, barbershoppy, fragrance. Took me two years to realize it. Try it (2-3 sprays) in the warmer times of Spring and Fall, you’ll see. An awesome and surprisingly versatile scent.

Very nice and pleasant spicy leathery scent, wouldn’t say it’s original but one of my favorite leather fragrances

A lovely, rich patchouli and birch mix that would appeal to hardcore Santa Maria Novella fans: something proudly Italian, defined by its classical past while edging into a contemporary oriental mix. Any resemblance to Interlude Man is purely accidental. Oro Nero stands on its own two feet, like the statue of David in its native Florence: bold, passionate, defiant.

This smells like sweet and sour pork garnished with an overload of fragrant dried saffron threads. Savory, sweet, and strange. I don’t even hate it. Completely shocked to see everyone saying it is vanilla+cloves. I’m getting a lot more teriyaki sauce than wintry candle. 6.5/10

This one smells exactly like a current formulation of Interlude by Amouage. Quite indistinct, has some bitterness to it and much less lasting than Interlude. cant justify its existance.

When you want to copy or take a lot of inspiration from Amouage's Interlude Man, you can't go wrong. That unique perfume, a monolithic perfume original for the period in which it appeared and remains a perfume impossible to replicate, precisely because of the raw material from which it is composed and because not everyone is Pierre Negrin from Firmenich. I consider it to be of I don't know how many Interludes wanna be, failed, of course. Given how successful this perfume has been, it's no surprise that it already has dozens and dozens of active clones/inspirations.

I love this, I can't stop smelling my hand, I'm quite to new to all this so I'm not great yet at picking up notes. It just smells different to the norm. It lasts OK on me and settles to a mellow vanilla ish skin scent. Ive got this and Oro and think they're both great.

This has my favourite dry down, Smokey vanilla clove, so smooth and lasts a very long time. Really blasts out of the atomizer strong, leathery and spicey, can be polarizing up front.
