Oro Rosso

#1046 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Not much to say about this. So similar to BR540 and 540 Extrait. Take your pick. But this is $100 on Jomashop, so saves you a bunch of cash, has identical quality, and doesn't have the synthetic undertones of the Maison Alhambra and Fragrance World clones. So if you can afford $100, I'd go for this over the $20 variety dupes out there. Beyond that, everything that applies to BR540 applies here. Women always think this is masculine, men think it's feminine. Certainly not business wear or even casual wear for men IMO. Way more feminine than unisex. All day longevity, strong initial sillage, no tight spaces, more of a date scent for the ladies.

Nose Note #1029 Oh yeah, this is closer to BR540 than Instant Crush, but still different. The cotton candy is a little burnt and the iconic medicinal safron note is a bit different. Still a great dupe. The greatest is yet to be outrun - Armaf Untold. This is actually quite similar to Untold! BR540 is, I think, made to be a little on the feminine side, and this hits home. I still love wearing it though! Leaning feminine. Satisfying performance. OK price, could be a bit cheaper. 8.6/10

Very nice masculine fragrance, has a classic vibe to it. Although it opens as a classic barbershop type of scent, it doesn’t have that screechy, synthethic note, that many modern perfumes have. It’s soft, smooth, masculine and woody, yet I can smell the florals, herbs and citrusses. The drydown is similar to BR 540, and Oro Rosso has good perfomance. 1-2 sprays creates a 1-2m scent bubble that lasts for hours. Oro Rosso smells like it’s made from quality ingredients and doesn’t cause a headache. The ingredients are well blended, as everything mixes together nicely. The scent isn’t unique per se, and Bois 1920 has created a nice version of a common scent.

I like BR540 and I love Trajan by Electimuss. I have as a hobby to try all the dupes as possible. This is male BR540 version without the medicine scent. On the other hand, it has a very week performance. Doesn’t project at all and disappear after one hour. So sad I can’t smell the blood orange and citrusy as described, and which I love in Trajan. Still very nice smell while still there 🥲

Gonna offer an opposing viewpoint here--if you like BR540 but don't like it's overpowering, almost oppressive strength and sweetness, then you'd probably prefer Oro Rosso. Just because something doesn't have nuclear performance doesn't mean it's bad. The performance on this is perfectly fine; if you can't smell it after an hour, it's because you went noseblind.
