Sandalo e The

I sampled and Liked this a year or two ago, and I'm upgrading this to a Love after re-discovering it in a Traveling Samples Box. I'm not sure why I like it so much more now, but it's been quite warm here today so it's possible that's helping its performance. I'm more apt to like less overtly-macho fragrances than I used to, so that might be another reason. I voted this as Unisex leaning Masculine...women could probably wear it but it seems quite suitable for a civilized Man. And yes, the nice lemony Tea scent is in there if your nose hunts for it! For me, anyway :-) I'm not picking up on a very distinct and strong tobacco note, but I think I detect it in the blend. Very good frag, if this sample were full I'd want to keep it and wear it, but it's a low fill so I'll be passing it on so others can sniff it too...

bottle 233601 i like. gray cold monday morning and a shot of bitter lemon. spot on. lemon is funny smell. it has a wide range from sweet to sharply bitter. adding spice and flowers with some resinous base takes this scent out of the "cologne" genre into something more perfumy and interesting for me. it is friendly in most types of weather. while we each react to smells differently and they bring certain memories, i find comments that refer to "curry house" to be racist. i frankly don't know what a "curry house" smells like since i have visited restaurants that serve curry around the world and curry varies from country to country from region to region. and moist towels come in a variety of overpowering alcohol based deodorizers. if a reviewer is reminded of something so particular as a south indian restaurant, a little bit of background might help rather than some ethnic based comment that may not mean anything to someone of a different culture or experience. i cook with many spices, including, but not limited to, tumeric, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, ginger. i also use a lot of herbs like rosemary and caraway, plus oregano, basil, thyme, dill, etc. there is generally a different palette for spices or herbs (tho often they are mixed). but spices and herbs are not interchangeable notes in perfumery. also, it has been my experience that fish restaurants, chinese restaurants, bbq houses, and others offer the same wipe-ups, so why the racist reference to "curry" house? anyway, back on point, i respectfully disagree that there is any similarity to moist towelettes. as sandalo e te dries down, the lemon subsides into a more soapy clean body scent. there is no strong sandalwood for me. as written above, i like it. rather ordinary but also rather likeable.

I also smelled black tea with lots of lemon and honey. Sharp lemon at the beginning, which later turned into aromatic sweet tea. Cold tea, by the way! Thus perfect for summer and early autumn. It exactly reminds me of windy September day, when you already have to wear something long-sleeved and last traces of hot sunny summer are reflecting in your cup of honey-colored drink... In the base I also got the tobacco note. Not the sharp one, softened by other scents, but still present. No sandalwood thought! I would rather rename it Sandals and Tea :) No floral notes developed on my skin though, which i am partly comfortable with, because i dont't get on well with rose and hyacinth. On the other hand, this might have enriched the complexity of this fragrance, as someone mentioned earlier. Personally, i missed the evolution of this perfume, it seemed pretty uncomplicated with fading of citruses and emerging of tobacco being the only things that changed as time elapsed. To sum up, I liked this fragrance a lot. For me it's not a masterpiece, not the one to die for, but very pleasant and comforting. It brighten up my day by bringing some warm summer memories. Sillage was very moderate, but longevity very good: 5-6 hrs for EDT

This stuff lasts way longer than it has any right to for an EDT. It’s still clinging to my skin 8 hours later. Projection chills out after 2 hours and it becomes a skin scent. The vibe? Imagine a spa day sponsored by lemon jelly candy—sweet, citrusy, slightly bougie—with a side of sandalwood and tea to keep it classy. Basically: summer in a bottle, perfect for not offending your coworkers or your date. It’s not a showstopper, but it’s giving “reliable king” vibes. Smells great, priced right, and definitely worth a sniff if you’re fragrance curious.

It reminded me of an especially harsh mosquito repellent at first, but within a minute or two the herbal scents (rosemary, lavender) blended nicely with the citrus top notes, and I discerned something that seemed more like a traditional cologne, more on the "masculine/woodsy" side. There's a bit of a soapy quality, too, and the overall effect reminds me a bit of the much cherished sample bottle of original formulation, late '80s Eau Sauvage that a friend gave me and that I wore for years. I could see buying a larger bottle of this one.

Sandalo e The smells exactly like the lemon tea my mother used to make me whenever I was down with a cold. She used to pour a lot of lemon juice in it and leave the lemon peel in the tea. So when I smelled the warm vapors, there was this sweet honey - bitter lemon - herbal tea accord that's strikingly similar to what I smell in this perfume. Sandalo e The is a beautiful, refreshing fragrance, with an amazing lemon note going on. It would be fantastic in summer days.

A citrus masculine fresh scent. I don't smell tobacco or honey at all. It is a perfect scent for a flaboyant man who lives nearby the seaside. Seaside? Yes; some citrus scents reminds me of the fingerfrsheners you'll get at a fishrestaurant on the seaside:-)

This is a nice, well-rounded, masculine, woody fresh scent. I get the lemon, the orange, the tea & rosemary, the cedar, and the geranium most prominently. It reminds me of a lemon ginger cough drop. Not my personal taste, but it's good.

I like the fruity smell of this one, but the Caraway gives it a cumin like smell that is a little off-putting. My Score: 6.5

classic scent I think it for age from 45 years old and older. It remind me of my grandma smell

Taste is a funny thing. On the one hand, we derive comfort from the familiar, so it's nice to immediately recognize a genre. We feel that we have a sense of control over the situation. "This is a woody oriental perfume." If a perfumer pushes too far to the outer reaches of our categories, then we may feel confused and disconcerted. At the same time, we may criticize other perfumes for being so similar--too similar--to so many other creations. It must be difficult being a perfumer attempting to reconcile all of these contradictions because no matter what one creates, even with the finest of ingredients, one faction of wearers will charge that it is familiar to the point of banality, while another may claim that it strays too far from already established icons. Should perfumers today be creating sandalwood-vanilla compositions, given the predominance of that genre among celebrity and mainstream designer fragrances? What I have learned from Bois 1920 Sandalo e The is that I don't really like this particular genre all that much, because I have criticized it aplenty in reviews of mainstream and celebrity fragrances, yet in this niche rendition I find myself somewhat bored, though I am confident that the materials used were top notch, given the reputation of this house and my experience with some of their other perfumes. Looking at the "official" notes, I recognize that I am obviously missing something here. To me, Sandalo e The smells very similar to many mainstream designer sandalwood vanilla scents, only with a marked cinnamon component--something like cinnamon-dusted sandalwood with a light sprinkling of vanilla sugar is what I smell. The sandalwood note is quite strong, and there is some source of sweetness here, just as in the mainstream analogues, although vanilla is not listed among the notes. Nor is cinnamon! Others report that this is a tea scent. That I do not get at all. Unless they mean Good Earth cinnamon tea? Perhaps that is what they mean. In any case, this composition has convinced me that I simply am not that keen on strong sandalwood scents, even when they don't turn sour (as many mainstream versions do), and even when they are not cloyingly sweet, as this one is definitely not. Wearing Bois 1920 Sandalo et The has been a learning experience for me. I have discovered that my harsh rebuke of sandalwood vanilla frags has often been misguided. My real problem with this type of composition comes down to a matter of personal taste.

A warm blast of dry tobacco mixed with myrh is immediately apparent, followed by the dark notes of tea & sticky patchouli. This lightened upside down on my skin, strangely, to the citrus notes and something faintly medicinal - probably the rosemary and lavender. The caraway is present throughout, but in the background (thankfully, as I'm not a huge fan) rather than shouting out its presence. The hyacinth, rose and jasmine didn't fully emerge for me, which is a shame as I would have liked a little more of the florals to balance the mix. An extremely interesting and quite complex fragrance - far more difficult to pinpoint than one may imagine by reading the notes. A must-try for tobacco note fans who aren't fond of fragrances that temper this with fruit or vanilla. At first I thought the longevity would be excellent, as the first couple of hours sillage was almost overwhelming (I overdid the sprays, obviously!), but this seemed to fade quite suddenly. Or perhaps I got used to it. I can never be quite sure. Perhaps you should ask a passing stranger (tall, dark & handsome, of course) to sniff your neck and see? Wearing Sandalo e The is like sitting on the porch of a tea shop located somewhere vaguely exotic, overlooking a herb garden at twilight and opening a fresh packet of tobacco, breathing in the delicious mixture of aromas and sighing with pleasure.

Surprised I haven't reviewed this considering I've owned a bottle for quite some time: I've owned a bottle of this fragrance for quite some time now, and it's long overdue for a review. I first purchased a sample from Luckyscent.com years ago, and that initial experience was enough to convince me to buy a full bottle. Simply put, I really enjoy this fragrance, so does my wife! At first whiff, you might be caught off guard depending on your scent preferences (think along the lines of Amouage Opus IV’s cumin note), but be patient. Let it dry down. What you’ll find is something strong and slightly dark, with notes like tobacco and patchouli leading the way. It’s woodsy with a hint of citrus (thanks to cedar, tea, orange, and geranium), and it carries a spicy edge from the caraway and myrrh. There is some subtle sweetness from the lavender, rose, and rosemary. Overall, it’s a spicy yet sweet fragrance; bold, unique, and in my opinion well-balanced.

This one starts off a bit odd. I must admit I was bit turned off by the opening. Must be the caraway that I am smelling, because it strongly reminds me of cumin. And I've always associated that note with the middle east. Not my cup of tea. Anyhow, fast forward 30 minutes later and the fragrance becomes really enjoyable and pleasant. Quite refreshing actually, like sweetened Ice tea on a warm summer day. Patience is key here. I would put this under the same category as Lalique Equus, Gucci Pour Homme II, etc. But the BOIS quality is much more refined and its quite apparent.

Sandalo e The opens with a sweet-citrusy-the accord that is not so impressive. The Sandalwood note is very efemeral and shows up after half an hour or so. In the drydown the whole scent gets woody and somehow sweeter. Overall ithis is an ok perfume but after the good suprise I had with Bois 1920 Extreme this one is a bit disappointing. Nothing special and quite expensive. Rating: 5.5-6/10

Lemony, herbal, woody, soothing. But the caraway note is the most prominent on my skin, it can be too much at times. It also has a nice rose note that comes and goes. Excellent performance on my skin. Unisex.

Mint, citrus, sandalwood. Tea comes after. It is relaxing. There is something of JOVAN Sex Appeal in this one but in much more classy way and much higher quality.

This remind me of 2 perfumes mix together, Declaration de Cartier and Air du Desert Marocain, if you like those 2 it's definitively a must try.

Heady combo of sharp notes with cedar as a standout. Old school flare. Not my style of fragrance. Unisex with masculine lean. ✨

Strange because I liked Sushi Imperial over this but now it's switching roles and now I love sandolo's spicy edge over SI

Expensive famous brand, but where is nothing special going on with this one, niches can be very disappointing.
