403 Myrrh Shadow

This is such a pleasant surprise for me. For some reason, I have an impression about Bon that is not very positive and I have no idea where it came from. I hate to say it, but I think it's because they are cheap. That's very wrong of me because I actually have never gone through and smelled their fragrances. I'm just making a judgment because of how cheap the prices are. I took about an hour just now to do research on the brand. I'm very glad I did! Everything I said earlier is wrong. I find that very helpful and now everything makes a bit more sense. This fragrance house is not cheap. It's actually very high quality and very creative. The prices are lower for a multitude of reasons I'm not going to bore you with now. The fragrance we are talking about now is an example of a very high-quality perfume. To me, this smell is very similar to Tonka Hysteria. I love that fragrance! 403 is very similar, but not identical. This one is a little bit more aromatic and has a touch of pepper in the beginning. It's not as dense either if that makes sense. It seems like there is more air coming through. Makes it better for spring time. It's like the difference between a winter sweater versus a spring sweater. I will be honest and will tell you I am a huge fan of Quentin Bisch! He is by far my absolute favorite perfumer. I don't care if he is not classically trained or if he is young. He understands what it means to feel sexy. Attractive. To be desired. And he understands how to create a complex fragrance without overdoing it. He has talent and that is undeniable. For the price, 403 is absolutely worth it! The only thing I can say is the longevity is not quite as good as I thought it was going to be. But I recommend you take that with a grain of salt because my skin absorbs things very differently than other people. If Tonka Hysteria is too expensive, I highly recommend 403 Myrhh Shadow!

Sampling Bon Parfumeur 403 Myrrh Shadow, released earlier this year as part of the extrait line, a fittingly resinous, woody, spicy, and semi-sweet blend that has a prominent use of akigala wood. It’s very accessible and classy, yet sharp and distinctive, not too sharp, sweet, or otherwise standing out negatively, but effectively blended in way that makes it viable for everyday wear while still feeling special for a night out. The significance of akigala wood makes it a bit reminiscent of Tom Ford Fougere d’Argent, another fragrance that uses the note somewhat heavily, but while Fougere d’Argent is a bit of a minty, tingly, spicy, semi-fresh play on a fougere, Myrrh Shadow is more so a sweet and spicy resinous mix, albeit still with some of the tingly sharpness of the akigala wood that I find so distinctive. Myrrh Shadow is extrait concentration and is priced at $220/70 for 100/15ml, sold in the US via the house website and great boutiques like Perfumology. It performs well, while not a powerhouse, and I feel the price point is very reasonable in the current market. I love the 15ml option as a way to avoid committing to a big bottle, especially since there are several fragrances in the house that I quite like. Overall, this is a great entry, right up there with Iris Cartagena as an early favorite. 8 out of 10

This is so damn good. I absolutely cannot stand the smell of cumin. I strongly get the BO accord with cumin. If I see cumin as a listed note in a fragrance, I immediately run for the hills and blackball the fragrance. As others have pointed out, Myrrh Shadow does teeter on the edge of cumin BO vibes, yet still I am in love with it. I don't know how that is possible, but in this particular case, I am willing to look/sniff passed Myrrh Shadow's indiscretion because it is otherwise an amazing smelling fragrance. Aromatic Aromatic Aromatic ... maybe it reminds me of my grandmother's vegetable and herb garden, the spices in her kitchen, or the room in her basement where she canned her own pickles. I don't know ... but I do know that I absolutely love the smell of this stuff. And I also know that my wife is absolutely going to hate the smell of this stuff on me lmao. Myrrh Shadow is also spicy, balsamic, woody and musky. But in the end, it is a GREEN AROMATIC BOMB. 10/10 and a Fragrantica Score of 4.65 from me, one of the higher scores I have ever given a fragrance.

Discovering that Quentin Bisch is one of the perfumers behind this creation made me smile he truly is the perfumer of my heart. There’s always this touch of elegance, a refined sparkle and a signature addictive trail in his work that makes me fall in love every time.Myrrh Shadow 403 is a perfect balance between shadow and light, resinous warmth and modern brightness. A sophisticated scent with that unmistakable Bisch magic.

If Guerlain Shalimar was created today, it would probably smell like this. While Shalimar leans feminine, this one leans masculine. It starts off fruity and green - black currant leaf takes the main stage with a slight pissy undertone and lots of basil in the background. The scent quickly turns into spices on a soft bed of vanilla and musk. The myrrh is definitely there but it comes and goes instead of taking the limelight. The transitions are smooth, very smooth. 3 sprays get me compliments - that's very rare in my culture, so I suppose the sillage is better than what I perceive. It lasts a good 8 hours on my skin.
