403 Myrrh Shadow

This is such a pleasant surprise for me. For some reason, I have an impression about Bon that is not very positive and I have no idea where it came from. I hate to say it, but I think it's because they are cheap. That's very wrong of me because I actually have never gone through and smelled their fragrances. I'm just making a judgment because of how cheap the prices are. I took about an hour just now to do research on the brand. I'm very glad I did! Everything I said earlier is wrong. I find that very helpful and now everything makes a bit more sense. This fragrance house is not cheap. It's actually very high quality and very creative. The prices are lower for a multitude of reasons I'm not going to bore you with now. The fragrance we are talking about now is an example of a very high-quality perfume. To me, this smell is very similar to Tonka Hysteria. I love that fragrance! 403 is very similar, but not identical. This one is a little bit more aromatic and has a touch of pepper in the beginning. It's not as dense either if that makes sense. It seems like there is more air coming through. Makes it better for spring time. It's like the difference between a winter sweater versus a spring sweater. I will be honest and will tell you I am a huge fan of Quentin Bisch! He is by far my absolute favorite perfumer. I don't care if he is not classically trained or if he is young. He understands what it means to feel sexy. Attractive. To be desired. And he understands how to create a complex fragrance without overdoing it. He has talent and that is undeniable. For the price, 403 is absolutely worth it! The only thing I can say is the longevity is not quite as good as I thought it was going to be. But I recommend you take that with a grain of salt because my skin absorbs things very differently than other people. If Tonka Hysteria is too expensive, I highly recommend 403 Myrhh Shadow!

Sampling Bon Parfumeur 403 Myrrh Shadow, released earlier this year as part of the extrait line, a fittingly resinous, woody, spicy, and semi-sweet blend that has a prominent use of akigala wood. It’s very accessible and classy, yet sharp and distinctive, not too sharp, sweet, or otherwise standing out negatively, but effectively blended in way that makes it viable for everyday wear while still feeling special for a night out. The significance of akigala wood makes it a bit reminiscent of Tom Ford Fougere d’Argent, another fragrance that uses the note somewhat heavily, but while Fougere d’Argent is a bit of a minty, tingly, spicy, semi-fresh play on a fougere, Myrrh Shadow is more so a sweet and spicy resinous mix, albeit still with some of the tingly sharpness of the akigala wood that I find so distinctive. Myrrh Shadow is extrait concentration and is priced at $220/70 for 100/15ml, sold in the US via the house website and great boutiques like Perfumology. It performs well, while not a powerhouse, and I feel the price point is very reasonable in the current market. I love the 15ml option as a way to avoid committing to a big bottle, especially since there are several fragrances in the house that I quite like. Overall, this is a great entry, right up there with Iris Cartagena as an early favorite. 8 out of 10

This is so damn good. I absolutely cannot stand the smell of cumin. I strongly get the BO accord with cumin. If I see cumin as a listed note in a fragrance, I immediately run for the hills and blackball the fragrance. As others have pointed out, Myrrh Shadow does teeter on the edge of cumin BO vibes, yet still I am in love with it. I don't know how that is possible, but in this particular case, I am willing to look/sniff passed Myrrh Shadow's indiscretion because it is otherwise an amazing smelling fragrance. Aromatic Aromatic Aromatic ... maybe it reminds me of my grandmother's vegetable and herb garden, the spices in her kitchen, or the room in her basement where she canned her own pickles. I don't know ... but I do know that I absolutely love the smell of this stuff. And I also know that my wife is absolutely going to hate the smell of this stuff on me lmao. Myrrh Shadow is also spicy, balsamic, woody and musky. But in the end, it is a GREEN AROMATIC BOMB. 10/10 and a Fragrantica Score of 4.65 from me, one of the higher scores I have ever given a fragrance.

was intrigued the moment I tried Myrrh Shadow 403 it instantly reminded me of the addictive woody spicy aura of Bois Impérial. That clean yet sensual contrast, the crisp brightness meeting the deep resinous myrrh, has ‘Quentin Bisch style’ written all over it.And I was right! Discovering that Quentin Bisch is one of the perfumers behind this creation made me smile he truly is the perfumer of my heart. There’s always this touch of elegance, a refined sparkle and a signature addictive trail in his work that makes me fall in love every time.Myrrh Shadow 403 is a perfect balance between shadow and light, resinous warmth and modern brightness. A sophisticated scent with that unmistakable Bisch magic.

If Guerlain Shalimar was created today, it would probably smell like this. While Shalimar leans feminine, this one leans masculine. It starts off fruity and green - black currant leaf takes the main stage with a slight pissy undertone and lots of basil in the background. The scent quickly turns into spices on a soft bed of vanilla and musk. The myrrh is definitely there but it comes and goes instead of taking the limelight. The transitions are smooth, very smooth. 3 sprays get me compliments - that's very rare in my culture, so I suppose the sillage is better than what I perceive. It lasts a good 8 hours on my skin.

One of the most beautiful, soft, smooth, myrrh dominant perfumes I’ve ever tested. But unlike other myrrh centric perfumes, Myrrh Shadow has a very citrus, green and fresh opening, with a noticeable bitter orange, grapefruit, basil and cypress note. It transforms in half an hour into a soft resinous, ambery scent with a hint of black pepper, cinnamon and vanilla. Everything superbly blended with a pinch of fresh patchouli and some woody accents. The perfume is absolutely superb but it kinda lacks in longevity and radiance, it’s something that will last you for maximum half a day, without additional sprays.

I am not a Quentin Bisch fan and usually I don’t like his perfumes (I know shocking). This is why I was concerned about this one. But looking at the pyramid I was very intrigued. And this is a very interesting perfume for sure. It opens up citrusy and leafy, then quickly settles into a woody-balsamic scent with the sweetness just peeking through. It settles more woody-spicy-citrusy than sweet. I like the sour and cypress notes and the fact they linger. This is a spring or fall scent, even though I am curious how will it open up in the heat. Not a safe blind buy but I am happy I got it.

I am absolutely obsessed with this fragrance. I’m a huge fan of Quentin Bisch, and this is one of his best to date. Warm, cozy and utterly addictive. Myrrh Shadow somehow manages to feel both slightly nostalgic and totally of the moment, taking you on a dreamlike journey that’s both sensory and soulful. From first spray to dry down to the evolution on skin, like all great journeys it keeps unfolding in new and surprising ways. Exquisite!!!

Wow, so many memories here! At first sniff, I’m taken to a lush basil garden, followed by a domesticated Diptyque Tempo vibe (I finished a whole bottle of it) then evokes Laura Biagotti Roma in my grandmother’s sunlit living room. Of course, this fragrance is far more than a trip to the past -especially since I don’t even like retro scents on myself. I’ve been smelling it for two days now, and it’s genuinely addictive.

Not what I was expecting based off note breakdown. It’s less resinous than you’d think and more like a molecular fragrance. It’s very fluffy and powdery yet metallic. Reminds me of how the color white would smell. Very futuristic take on a powdery fragrance. I find that sometimes is can lean to barbershop type of powdery. Nice but not something I’d wear.

Somewhat smell of decaying flesh of a heroine addict, but in a good way. Beautiful.

Myrrh Shadow 403 wears like a secret—velvety, aromatic, and full of restrained power. It never needs to resort to being shouty—it’s perfectly content leaving behind a polished trail that affirms its intentionality. When compared to Mortal Skin, the contrast reveals their shared soul. Where Mortal Skin peers through a veil of smoke and ink like fog on a ritual path, Myrrh Shadow emerges in crisp focus—no less mysterious, but more linear, clean-lined, and immediate. One is elusive and shifting; the other, grounded in structure. Myrrh Shadow doesn’t mystify—it’s simply confident in its mystique.

The opening was a zesty heft. Enjoyable, to me the top notes are very peppery. I got a very nice whiff of basil. I love the smell of fresh basil in general, so this is favorable to me. The green aromatic balances out the cinnamon accord, a note I’m overall not fond of. It works here though. The top and middle notes present themselves pretty quickly in succession. The base gets a little interesting. I think the scent somewhat dies down and comes back. It's very much giving something like how Coca-Cola and more notably Dr. Pepper would smell. I'm attributing that to the cinnamon and vanilla. It's soft, sweet... like the warm smell of candy. It's sort of nostalgic, like when you had those brown bottle shaped gummy candies. The scent is soft but persistent. I went to sleep, 12 hours later and it still gives off a skin scent. The naming probably comes from the fact that it’s on you like a shadow; “Your skin but better.” A quiet whisper that reminds you it’s there every now and then.

Reviewing a sample from 2025. Myrrh Shadow was launched in 2025. This is a gentle lovely herbal/spicy/wood fragrance. Myrrh Shadow opens with bitter citrus then by an anise accord ( ? combo of green egyptian basil and blackcurrant bud) which takes over the freshness . This is followed by african myrrh and French cypress. Soft aromatic woods , sweet vanilla musk and chocolate tinged patchouli in the dry down. Subtle spices of Timut pepper and cinammon . Not smoky and definitely no cumin as some have wondered. Quality-very good Unisex Performance- stays close ; lasts 4-6 hours. This is a very interesting multilayered herbal- myrrh fragrance. Nicely balanced. 7.5/10

This is really pretty, but you must get past the super spicy opening. It's not listed, but I do get something like a cumin note in the top, it could be the Timur, but I've never smelled that before. Fortunately that lasts about 10 minutes and you can only smell it right up close to your skin. Once this has dried down, it becomes a very smooth and slightly sweet amber, that retains some fresh spicy facets from the grapefruit and something aromatic, possibly the basil. Do not judge this until you let it drydown! The opening is vastly different from how this wears overall. Definitely unisex!

Wow. What a unique amber fragrance! The blackcurrant leaf is simply divine, and even though I sprayed this perfume about twenty minutes ago, that is all I can really smell, along with vanilla. The cinnamon was also present at one point, as the blackcurrant gave way to its gentle warmth. I was enticed by the review that claimed this smelled like an old painting, which I unfortunately don't get, but it is a unique and yet wearable scent, it almost brings to mind a sugary sweet pancake with jam.

As soon as I put this on I was transported back to 2009 when I was wearing a lot of Prada l’eau ambree...I can’t do a smell check because I don’t have it anymore 😭 but I think it reminds me of that! I’m getting something a little more anise-y. Maybe the timur? This is deep and rich and complex and sexy. Winter night out scent. Gives me a little bit of a headache though.

This was a blind buy based on reviews, and having bought others from the house I gave it a chance. Definitely not what I expected, but instantly liked it and was impressed. To me it smelt very luxurious but after reading that it kind of smells like play dough It’s all I can think of now, but enjoy the uniqueness of the fragrance.

the basil note is strong in the opening, sadly it fades rather quickly. dries down to a vanillic myrrh, very smooth and wearable. the scent would benefit from a stronger pepper note, in my opinion. a gently sweet, lingering scent, pleasant stuff.

Very elegant dusty amber with just the right amount of sweetness. Stable and potent, gummy at opening. Good blind buy for Chanel lovers. A bit too safe for me, but I would not be dissapointed if someone gifted me this perfume.

Tonka forward soft spicy powdery scent, vanilla cola myrrh. Not sure why Tonka bean isn’t listed it’s the most dominant note. Soft comforting scent.

Very natural, very soft, a quiet mhyrrh. This would be perfect on my husband.....if he would only indulge me (I can’t get him to wear scent).

This myrrh is inoffensive but a bit shy. Warm, sweet, but also slightly earthy and woody in a way that feels true to the spirit of its name, the bitter orange, basil, and cassia provide a bright edge reminiscent of amber classics from Emeraude to Obsession. However, unlike Emeraude's effervescent ebullience or Obsession's streamlined postmodern vampiness, Myrrh Shadow is timid and wishy washy. It eventually settles into a base of, you guessed it, myrrh, but stretched a bit too far in two contrasting directions: gummy, vanillic sweetness, and scratchy, sour woodiness. While this does embody the duality of myrrh, both appealing and a little funky, the tension between the accords here reads as more accidental than intentional on my skin. It's not for me, but it's not awful. If anything, it's begging for a touch of oakmoss or another earthy note to help tie the two ends together.

I totally get what another reviewer says about this smelling like play doh. I do think there is a bit more depth here than in play doh but I’m not convinced it works. The dry cedar & akigalawood base does not quite mesh with the myrrh and the result feels like a disharmonious split to me. I much prefer the cheaper and simpler 4711 myrrh and kumquat as far as this profile goes.

Very interesting scent. Opens up spicy and heavy balsamic, dries down to a heavy ambry, powdery/dusty benzoin and vanilla scent with a green woody undertone. Unisex and I would even say : old school feminine leaning from the powdery vanilla/ benzoin. Worth sampling if you like powdery, ambry scents. Not bad but not my cup of tea.

To me, this smells like baby powder, almost like the scent Love's Baby by Dana which I liked in middle school. It also reminds me of a Chanel fragrance my mom wore when I was young. When it dried on my skin, it vaguely reminded me of vomit. This is the scent that made me realize I don't like 'powdery' smells. Not for me.

Strong scent association/similarities to Play-Doh.. as someone who played with Play-Doh a ton as a kid I couldn't imagine ever wanting to smell like this.

Myrrh Shadow 403 smells like the Crypt Keeper's signature ice cream flavor, an inexplicable combination of sour medicinal powders and resinous, demulcent sweetness. Apothecary ice cream served in dusty parlors where softly spiced cola syrup was dispensed by skeletal hands, bittersweet olde-timey remedies dispensed, ironically, in a dusty tomb lined with crumbling marble shelves and cobweb-draped medicine bottles, stone walls saturated with the balsamic phantasmagoria of centuries-old incense. It vaguely recalls the whispery smoke and mysterious veils of Annick Goutal Myrrh Ardente - except Myrrh Shadow 403 emerged from the freezer creamier, sweeter, colder: mystical tree resins churned into midnight, ghoulish horror host gelato.

This is absolutely stunning. I had a sample and tried it on.. all day I kept falling more and more in love. And I kept thinking.. this is like something in my collection that I know and love so much. And then it hit me.. this is an almost spot on replica to the now discontinued masterpiece of Guerlain Bois D’Armenie. I went to my perfume cabinet and sprayed my arm with my Guerlain treasure.. and sure enough it is 98% close!! Now mind you I have 2 backup bottles of Bois D’Armenie because I love it that much. But the fact that this is sooo close to that masterpiece AND has better performance.. I can guarantee you this will definitely be a full bottle purchase this fall! Gorgeous and worth every penny!!

403 Myrrh Shadow is exactly what the name says. Dry, dusty myrrh with a hint of benzoin, in other words with a more illusory resinous sweetness. The perfume is not as you would expect seeing the notes listed to be a spicy warm but on the contrary old school, as if kept in a closed room for many, many years. Very discreet, skin scent, a shadow that keeps you company for a few hours. It certainly has its fans but I am not one of them

This IS NOT unisex. The opening is strange and different with the basil, but make NO mistake...GUYS....this dries down 1 millionth % feminine and a womans perfume. You would have to be delusional to smell anything remotely masculine in this whatsoever. Zero. Dry down smells amazing....on a female. Girls, try this you''ll see. I call it how it smells, not how I smell it. Girls get your nose on this.

This is my blind buy and it was a mistake. For some reason I have assumed that it will be more herbal than warm and slightly spicy. It does open herbal and almost fresh, you def smell basil, but in 10 mins in turns into “old lady perfume”. I watched reviews on luckycent and everybody was wow this is interesting. But honestly I want to know if they wear this perfume.

I’m really shocked no one is pointing out the basil note in this? I literally feel like I’m shoving my face in a bag of basil. It does settle, with the myrrh coming through in the base. Interesting scent, quite unique really. Projection is moderate but it lasts a good while, would be suitable for all seasons and any occasion really.

Very soft resinous scent. Slightly sweet, aromatic myrrh. It is a skin scent, doesn't project much. It doesn't last long either. It is a good scent but very soft and brief. If you like this but want something with a very similar profile around a core of myrrh but with a more robust performance, I would recommend Seta.

A dusty balsamic myrrh heaven, like the dusty dye on an old painting would smell. Wearing this I feel like visiting the art gallery enjoying the beauty, the silence, the depth.... This fragrance is in itself a modern version of an old-school unisex masterpice

Vanilla, amber, spicy, aromatic, a little nutty creaminess in the background. Not too shabby but what is with applying the house branded sample. No dabber, no sprayer, just upturn the open mouth vial? WTH BP SMH.

I perceive this as smelling like play doh. Nice play doh but play doh all the same. Not really my jam. Sample it for yourself, it might just be me.

Starts off with a sort of cumin-like body odor blast but gets better in the dry down. Very nice spicy amber.
